Adele Brit Awards Ed Sheeran Dua Lipa Billie Eilish

It’s no surprise, given her history, that Adele with her first album in six years, 30, took home all three main prizes at the 42nd Brit Awards, but it’s still a jaw-dropping achievement. With Mastercard Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for Easy on Me, Adele’s collection of BRITs is now at twelve in total.

“I’d like to dedicate this award to my son”, she said in her tearful Album of the Year acceptance speech. “And to Simon, his dad; this album was all of our journey, not just mine. I’m very proud of myself for sticking to my guns and putting out an album that was about something so personal to me, because not many people do stuff like that anymore.”

Who Made History At The 2021 Brit Awards?

Brit Awards Taylor Swift Dua Lipa Little Mix

It's fair to say that the 2021 Brit Awards show was an event like no other. Not only was it the first major indoor live event in over a year (thanks to COVID-19 restrictions), it also saw the most women taking home awards in BRIT history.

Dua Lipa rocked the night with a win for both British Female Solo Artist and British Album of the Year for her second album Future Nostalgia, but it was Little Mix who made history by being the first all-female group to win Best British Group six months after the release of their sensational Confetti album.

BRIT Award Nominations 2021: A Triumph For Diversity With The Likes Of Arlo Parks, Celeste And Young T And Bugsey

Brit Awards

The nominations are in! This year's Brit Awards features a remarkable blend of artists from different ethnic minorities, forming the majority of the nominees. There's no tokenism here, which is usually to be expected of a major awards show. It goes to show just how much the country is changing to see the whitewashing of the indie and pop industry slowly ebbing away.

Among the top nominees of the year are London indie newcomer Arlo Parks, who is tipped for Breakthrough Artist, Female Solo Artist and Mastercard Album for January's Collapsed in Sunbeams. The 20-year-old Nigerian-Chadian-French-British singer is about as diverse as they come, and being openly bisexual she represents the LGBTQ+ music community.

Holly Willoughby Slams BRIT Awards Paparazzi For 'Upskirting' Shots

Holly Willoughby Brit Awards

Holly Willoughby launched into a furious condemnation of paparazzi tactics yesterday, the day after she and a number of other female celebrities were pictured attempting to protect their modesty as they left the Brit Awards.

The 37 year old ‘This Morning’ presenter took to Instagram on Thursday (February 22nd), the day after the annual music awards bash in London, and bemoaned that “time’s apparently up” for Time’s Up, the much publicised campaign for gender equality.

“At the beginning of the night we held white roses and walked down a red carpet full of the hope and pride that comes with the #timesup campaign,” she wrote, captioning a photo montage of herself, Rita Ora, Louise Redknapp and Abbey Clancy all getting into cars and attempting to shield themselves against the intrusions of cameras held low to the floor.

Dua Lipa And Stormzy Win Big At BRIT Awards 2018, Ed Sheeran Snubbed

Brit Awards Stormzy Ed Sheeran Dua Lipa

It was an interesting night at the 2018 Brit Awards, with both Dua Lipa and Stormzy each taking home two awards and Ed Sheeran leaving empty-handed.

Indeed, it was the grime artist who took home two of the most prestigious awards of the evening, edging out the multi-platinum-selling Sheeran on both occasions to win British Male Solo Artist and the big prize of British Album of the Year for his debut LP Gang Signs & Prayer.

Having been nominated for five awards, the most of the evening and also a record for a female solo artist, 22 year old Dua Lipa took home two prizes, for British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. However, her signature hit ‘New Rules’ was confusingly pipped to the post for British Single of the Year by the personality vacuum of Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, whose ‘Human’ single was released all the way back in July 2016.

Ariana Grande Pulls Out Of Manchester Tribute At BRIT Awards 2018

Ariana Grande Liam Gallagher Brit Awards

Brit Awards organisers have been left with a headache after Ariana Grande pulled out of a secretly-planned tribute to the victims of last year’s Manchester terror attack, leaving them scrambling to find a replacement with just hours to go ahead of tonight’s performance.

Reports on Wednesday (February 21st) suggested that the 24 year old pop star was lined up to perform at tonight’s ceremony at the O2 Arena in London, in tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack last May at Manchester’s Arena during one of her concerts, which was set to be the pinnacle of the ceremony.

However, it’s understood that Grande has fallen ill in recent days and, despite her intention to come to the BRIT Awards in spite of that, has been ordered by her doctor not to make the trans-Atlantic journey.

Mitch Winehouse, the father of late singer Amy Winehouse, has said he doesn’t want his daughter to win the Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist at tonight’s ceremony. Speaking about the award nominees Mitch said “You have Jess Glyne, we’ve got Adele. and we’ve got Amy. At least she is being nominated for her music, for the soundtrack from the film. So that’s quite positive and it just shows you that Amy’s still up for awards five years after her passing.”
