Simon Cowell Reveals He Had To Pitch 'Britain's Got Talent' To David Walliams "Twice"

‘Britain’s Got Talent’ has long been one of the most successful television shows in Britain, but Simon Cowell has revealed that it nearly didn’t happen at all, saying that he had to pitch the idea to David Walliams twice to get him on board.

Music mogul Cowell and former ‘Little Britain’ actor Walliams are famed for their on-set banter every springtime on ‘BGT’, but their friendship was very far from certain, particularly when Cowell first decided to run the idea for the show past him.

“I think he’s always been un-sackable,” Cowell said when he was interview on ‘Lorraine’ on Thursday morning (April 12th).

Not Willing To Take Simon Cowell's Shtick, Britain's Got Talent Act Walk Off Stage

‘Britain’s Got Talent’ head honcho Simon Cowell was left staggered after one of the acts auditioning for a place in this year’s series simply walked off stage, rather than remain to face criticism from him.

A report emerging on Friday (January 20th) claims that the extraordinary reaction came during auditions this week in Blackpool, when a 37-strong choir called Dale Divas had attempted to impress the panel of judges, headed by Cowell, with a version of Adele’s ‘Rolling In the Deep’.

Fifth Harmony Panned For Being "Tuneless" And "Boring" On 'Britain's Got Talent'

Fifth Harmony Britain's Got Talent

‘Britain’s Got Talent’ viewers were busy on social media again last night, this time panning the live performance by Simon Cowell’s American girl group Fifth Harmony for being “flat, tuneless and boring” during Thursday night’s semi-final.

The five-piece group were formed in 2012 on the second season of ‘The X Factor USA’, and are currently the world’s highest-selling girl group, with a social media following of over three million and signed to ‘BGT’ judge Cowell’s Syco label.

They performed as special guests during the interlude between the judges picking the last finalists for this weekend’s season closer, with a rendition of their recent UK Top 10 hit ‘Work From Home’. However, Twitter users were quick to jump on them, criticising their stylisation, choreography and singing.

‘Britain’s Got Talent’ viewers on social media are calling for judge Alesha Dixon to be kicked off the panel after she described one act on the show as “sexy chocolate men” on Wednesday night's semi-final.

The 37 year old singer, formerly of noughties girl group Mis-Teeq, made the remark while praising the opera group Vox Fortura after they gave a rendition of David Bowie’s ‘”Heroes”’. Four sexy chocolate men,” she said as they finished, “with amazing voices, polished to perfection. That was sensational.”

Immediately, irate fans took to Twitter to call for Dixon to make a public apology for the reference, while others demanded that she be fired from the show.

'Britain's Got Talent' Misled The Public Over Stunt Double Dog, Ofcom Report Says

Britain's Got Talent

ITV is offering a refund to any fans of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ who voted by phone or text for the competition’s winner Jules O’Dwyer and her performing dog Matisse, after Ofcom ruled that a performance involving stunt double dogs was misleading.

The broadcasting regulator determined that the talent show was likely to have inadvertently misled viewers after a lookalike dog was used instead of Matisse to perform a tightrope walking routine during the live final. ITV received 1,175 complaints when the incident was uncovered the week after the final episode at the end of May 2015.

In delivering their report, Ofcom said that ITV broke rule 2.14 of the broadcasting code which states “broadcasters must ensure that viewers and listeners are not materially misled about any broadcast competition or voting.”

Richard And Adam Living The Impossible Dream After Britain's Got Talent

Jahmene Douglas Richard Johnson Britain's Got Talent The X Factor

TV talent show winners haven’t been so successful of late; think The X-Factor’s James Arthur and The Voice’s Leanne Mitchell. But Britain’s Got Talent Winners – Richard and Adam – have topped the U.K album charts following their third-place finish on Britain’s Got Talent.

In doing so, they beat another talent-show product, x factor runner-up Jahmene Douglas, off the top spot. Richard and Adam’s profile was raised somewhat when a woman ran on stage to throw eggs at Simon Cowell for his influence on the music business.

Their album - The Impossible Dream - features hearty renditions of The Power of Love, Unchained Melody, Amazing Grace and Ave Maria. "It's amazing - you've made our Nan extremely happy, so thank you to each and everyone of you who's bought the album," Adam told the Official Charts Company.

I’m Sorry, Actually No I’m Not! – Britain’s Got Talent Egger Withdraws Apology

Simon Cowell Britain's Got Talent

The public apology following Natalie Holt’s eggy protest against Simon Cowell on the Britain’s Got Talent final seemed to draw a line under the matter, but having reconsidered her apology, the 30-year-old violinist has decided to take it right back.

“I planned to do it once the song was finished but I got a bit nervous and went slightly early, she explained of her stunt. “I sincerely apologise for overshadowing their moment as well as to anyone watching who felt that their evening’s entertainment was marred or even ruined,” she added, before a vital caveat was revealed. “However, I am not sorry for pelting Simon Cowell with eggs. I think he has too much power and influence in the entertainment industry. I felt that, on behalf of musicians everywhere, this is an institution and a man that needed standing up to.”

Holt claims she has received messaged of support from many high-profile musicians who, for reasons we can all probably understand, are “unwilling to express their support publicly”. She said: “I don’t dislike Cowell personally, I don’t like what he represents.”
