With the release date set for this time next year, only a few official details of the upcoming action sequel The Expendables 3 have been confirmed so far leaving the rest to gossip. At this stage though, it's safe to say that Nicolas Cage won't play a baddie in third in the series, but the actor has not publically ruled out any future Expendables action, meaning fans who want to see a Sly/Cage face-off can remain hopeful.

Sylvester Rocks Up For Some Filming.

Stallone and Lionsgate have confirmed some key details regarding the cast members and the bones of the plotline so brace yourself. Mickey Rourke, Chuck Norris and Bruce Willis will no longer feature in The Expendables, with the latter having being booted off the film recently after an argument with Sly. This means the bellicose band of baddie-bashing bruisers will comprise of Stallone (duh), Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Terry Crews.

A Sky advert starring Bruce Willis has been banned in the UK by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The organisation claim the advert is not clear on what customers were expected to pay.

A voiceover at the end of the advert suggested the cost for the "unlimited" broadband service was £7.50. This is not the case, as anyone capable of reading the miniscule writing at the bottom of the screen could tell you. The text informed customers that this deal was only available to existing Sky TV customers.

Sky have been dealt a blow by the Advertising Standards Authority who have ruled that their new advert, starring Die Hard actor Bruce Willis, was misleading. The TV and broadband provider is accused of using cunning tactics to obfuscate the truth; hiding crucial details in the television advert's small print in a move that hasn't got past the UK's advertising watchdog.

The advert shows Willis, who has recently been dropped from The Expendables sequel after a fall-out with Sylvester Stallone, complaining about the speed of his current broadband provider until another character steps in to advise him to "try Sky Broadband, it's totally unlimited." A voice-over then informs the audience that the service cost £7.50 a month. The enticingly low price is emphasised whilst the tiny, white small print at the bottom of the screen - invisible to those hard of sight - virtually whispers that the deal is only for existing Sky customers.

Action movie fans were collectively outraged on Thursday morning (August 9, 2013) when a source revealed to the Hollywood Reporter the real reason that Bruce Willis left The Expendables 3.

As we already knew, Bruce and Sly Stallone appeared to have a falling out, resulting in Harrison Ford replacing the Die Hard star in the forthcoming action-movie. Sly's tweets about being "greedy" hinted at a dispute over money, though we had no idea of the extent of Willis' demands.

Now, a source close to the project reveals how the actor was offered $3 million for four days work shooting in Bulgaria, though said he would drop out of the movie if he didn't get $4 million. "A million dollars a day. Stallone and everybody else involved said no," said the insider.

Bruce Willis was set to become the latest action star to join forces with Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and the rest in the upcoming Expendables 3. Unfortunately though, Willis won't be channelling his inner John McClane in the next Expendables film after all, as the Hollywood Reporter have revealed that due to contract disagreements, the actor has decided to walk away from the project.

On Tuesday (6 August), Stallone tweeted that Willis was out of the upcoming action project and Harrison Ford was in. He then went on to tweet, "GREEDY AND LAZY ...... A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE," to allude to his wage demands, but didn't follow-up his message with any kind of explanation as to why this happened. A day later, THR cleared up any confusion by confirming the reason behind Willis' axing, saying that it was his massive wage demands that made him surplus to requirements on the film. According to THR, Willis was offered $3 million to feature in the film, meaning he would have to take four days out of his busy schedule to film scenes on location in Bulgaria. It turns out that Willis wanted $1 million-per-day, threatening to walk away from the project if his demands weren't meant.

Harrison Ford is set to replace Bruce Willis in the all-star action franchise, The Expendables, as we move on to a third film, and Sylvester Stallone – who broke the story - seems mighty pleased with the news.

He Tweeted: “WILLIS OUT... HARRISON FORD IN !!!! GREAT NEWS !!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!” before posting: “GREEDY AND LAZY ...... A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE”. Now, we don’t think it takes a master of interpretation to ascertain that somewhere, somehow, Rocky and John McClain have fallen out somewhere down the line.

The Bruce Willis starring action comedy Red 2 is going into opening weekend with lukewarm reviews – more of a gentle maroon, if we’re going with the color metaphor. The film chronicles the events of Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) life three years after the original, when the former CIA agent has settled into a comfortable life with his damsel in distress from the first movie Sarah Ross (Mary-Louise Parker), but the couple are forced to come out of retirement by the murder of a friend and their own framing for a Cold War era mission by one of those pesky government agencies. As far as plots go, this one definitely suffers from sequel fatigue, which seems to be what most reviews hold against the film. However, various reviewers find various redeeming aspects of the action, driven by gun-toting pensioners.

The L.A. Times focuses on the commercial side of things, noting that both audiences and the studio already know that the “Red” concept works and it gets a specific audience into theatres. It’s now mid-July and it seems that the summer, which started out so promisingly just two months ago, is already fizzling out. Most of the films opening this weekend – Turbo and the dead-on-arrival paranormal action R.I.P.D most notably – pulled in disappointing numbers at the box office. While Dreamworks’s Turbo pulled in a disappointing $21.3 million over the entire weekend, R.I.P.D was even worse off with a pitiful $13.1 million – all figures, courtesy of Deadline.

After being rumoured to be joining the Expendables 3 cast, Knowing actor Nicolas Cage has shot down such murmurings in an interview with Den of Geek putting it plainly that he'd had no involvement so far: "I have not had any formal discussions about that movie," he said referring to Expendables. "I'm not in Kick-Ass 2 and I don't think I'm in Expendables 3. And I like those guys, but I would say it would be highly unlikely that I'd be in that movie," he added, destroying another fervent internet rumour while he was at it.

Dwayne Johnson and Vinnie Jones are two fellow actors who've also been rumoured to be starring in the mega-action blockbuster, set for release in August 2014. Cage's denial follows Sylvester Stallone's claim that he had "no knowledge" of a potential Cage addition back in November 2012.

After Red 2 enjoyed its star-studded premiere it's time to get down to the nitty-gritty of whether 2010's Red was deserving of a sequel or not. How many chances is M. Night Shyamalan going to get to direct a big-budget movie without making it toe-curlingly horrible? The Indian-American filmmaker proved he had the talent to put together an entertaining narrative with The Sixth Sense, though audiences are still waiting for Shyamalan to recreate that magic. They have been waiting for a long time.

There were flashes of quality in his two efforts after the Bruce Willis horror-drama, Signs and Unbreakable, though both suffered from sequences that bordered on the ridiculous. The dip in form continued with The Village (2004) though reached a terrifying low with Lady in the Water (2006) - or so we thought.

The Happening, starring Zooey Deschanel and Mark Wahlberg, prompted the New Republic to assert, "[A]n astonishment, so idiotic in conception and inept in execution that, after seeing it, one almost wonders whether it was real or imagined," though Shyamalan's career eventually reached its nadir with the infamous Last Airbender (2010) about a 12-year-old boy who provides the last hope of restoring harmony to a land consumed by chaos. "$150,000,000 well wasted. The Last Airbender is an insult to those wanting sophisticated, entertaining or even competent cinema," said Michael Leader of Film4. In his scathing review, Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian said, "After the first five seconds, it seems as if you have been watching it for around two-and-a-half hours, and that this time has passed in four-and-a-half days."

Will Smith and Jaden Smith at 'After Earth' New York premiere

The New York premiere of Will Smith's new action movie 'After Earth' was almost like a reunion for the actor as several old friends showed up to offer their support.

The event was truly a field day for photographers with celebrities from Wyclef Jean to Bruce Willis making their appearances on the red carpet. Will Smith was the star attraction alongside his son and co-star Jaden Smith, and he also brought along his other two children Willow Smith and Trey Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith. Joining them were 'After Earth' director M. Night Shyamalan (the man behind 'The Sixth Sense' and 'The Village'), Smith's co-star Kristofer Hivju, Oscar-nominated director Spike Lee and rapper 50 Cent. There was even an appearance from Smith's former 'The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air' co-star Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Will's rich and very spoilt cousin Carlton Banks. Another notable attendee was genuine NASA astronaut Buzz Aldrin, best known for being the second man to walk on the moon in 1969.

Roger Ebert, the esteemed American journalist, movie critic and screenwriter, has died aged 70 after a long battle with cancer. Ebert worked as a critic for the Chicago Sun-Times from 1967 right up until his death, making him one of the best known film critics in America. He was the first writer of his kind to win the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism and had his columns syndicated to more than 200 newspapers in the United States and many abroad.

Many will remember Ebert for his barbed war with rival critic Gene Siskel, often verbally sparring whilst discussing films in public. The pair created the trademark 'Two Thumbs Up' when both hosts gave the same film a positive review. As a director, if you had the two thumbs up from either Ebert of Siskel, you were invariably onto a good thing. In 1999, Ebert launched his own annual film festival called Ebertfest and six years later became the first critic to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His colleague Neil Steinberg said Ebert was "was without question the nation's most prominent and influential film critic." A positive review from the Chicago native could boost a movie's box-office takings, though a mauling could ruin everything. Last night, the Contact Music gang settled in for a night of Sunday night viewing. After many arguments, we finally decided upon National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets. This got us thinking: what is the worst film to dominate the box office charts?

Die Hard – A Good Day To Die Hard is certainly up there. The 5th Die Hard film managed to top the box office this weekend, beating out some admittedly pathetic competition, taking $25m in the process. With a hugely embarrassing 16% score from collected reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, it surely has to be the worst film to prosper in ticket sales.

No longer a solid trilogy, the Die Hard franchise now boasts a quintet of films with arrival of A Good Day To Die Hard. And while many critics denounced the film as rubbish, plans are to make a 6th. And why wouldn’t you if you keep topping the box office?

A round $25m saw the latest Bruce Willis action bonanza shoot to the top spot, but it’s not as if it was surrounded by critically acclaimed films – far from it. Second was Identity Thief, starring Melissa McCarthy, which managed a paltry 24% on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. That didn’t stop it from accumulating over $23m over the weekend, though. Another film with a derisory review score (13% to be exact), Safe Haven managed 3rd in the box office with a touch over $21m. All we can confidently surmise from these figures is that a lot of people have seen a lot of bad films this weekend.

Escape From Planet Earth, as you probably guessed, also didn’t fair too well with the critics, but as a silly kids film, claims redemption from the rest. It came in 4th with $16m. And what’s this? A film with a decent review score? It is! Warm Bodies - last week at #2 drops down to fifth position with $9m on its third week of release. There’s your top 5 box office films this weekend, now scram!

The New Die Hard flick – A Good Day To Die Hard – has topped the U.S Box Office charts despite its poor critical response. Admittedly, though, it wasn’t exactly up against Oscar-worthy competition.

Bruce Willis shot, jumped, smashed and crashed his way to $25m from Friday through Sunday as the latest Die Hard instalment slowly chips away at its $92m budget. Just behind it was Identity Thief with $23.4m – another film with a paltry score on Rotten Tomatoes finishing high up the charts because of the lack of options. It’s a similar story with Safe Haven, as the romantic drama, directed Lasse Hallström pulls in the crowds despite having 13% on the review site. Safe Haven managed $21.3m. Escape From Planet Earth opened this weekend to a 4th position finish in the box office table, grabbing just over $16m while Warm Bodies completes the top 5 on its third week with a round $9m. With 78% on RT, Warm Bodies has a better aggregate review score than the 4 films above it combined.

Beautiful Creatures opened to $7.4m, with 90% of that total comprising mourning Twilight fans (we predict, anyway). Another film with reviews above its station in the charts is Side Effects, which, with $6.3m places 7th. Silver Linings Playbook, Hansel And Gretel and Zero Dark thirty complete the top 10 with little over $10m between them.

Being Valentine's Day week, cinemas are flooded with romantic movies like the new teen franchise-launcher Beautiful Creatures. US audiences can also weep their way through the new Nicholas Sparks drama Safe Haven, while in the UK couples instead can laugh at Judd Apatow's epic rom-com This Is 40 and the clunky British farce Run For Your Wife. And for alternative viewing, there's the ultimate date movie A Good Day to Die Hard, Bruce Willis' fifth instalment in the crashing, exploding franchise.

And this kind of action dominates the week's new selection of trailers, starting with the very explosive-looking Olympus Has Fallen, starring Gerard Butler as a Secret Service agent trying to retake the White House after a terrorist invasion. The muscly cast includes Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett and Melissa Leo. It opens in March.

...But not in 'A Good Day To Die Hard.' Bruce Willis received so many complaints about his interview for BBC's The One Show that he said sorry, citing jetlag for his shoddy showing.

"I have to apologise," explained the aging action film stalwart to Jon Holmes in an interview for XFM (via The Guardian). "I didn't get very many compliments about it. They said it was a little stale. But I was so jetlagged. I'm very sorry, you kids on The One Show." Willis added: "I'm sure it's not their problem. I was a little bit boring, I think. I had a little sinking spell, that's all." We can all forgive a shoddy performance, but twice? Perhaps Die Hard 4.0 should have been the sign; the sign that read 'stop doing Die Hard films because the trilogy was really good but now you're spoiling it.' That (very real, we put it up) sign was emphatically ignored, as is evidenced by A Good Day To Die Hard, which, by all accounts, is the worst thing to happen ever.

We're not joking; it's the worst thing ever. 14% on Rotten Tomatoes is just pitiful. It's not really Bruce Willis' fault. They probably would have just made the film without him in it. We still love the original trilogy, but that love wanes exponentially with every subsequent film.

Bruce Willis, one of the most prolific and profitable actors in Hollywood, has been speaking about his Oscars drought, having never received a sniff of a nomination despite strong turns over the years in the likes of The Sixth Sense, Die Hard, Pulp Fiction and The Fifth Element. The actor, currently starting in A Good Day To Die Hard, spoke to GQ magazine about why he thinks he’s never been considered for a golden statuette.

“I don't think about it too much. It just always has seemed whimsical to me, to think about it. You don't get an Oscar for comedy, and you don't get it for shooting people. You get it for novelty, for being fascinating to watch in some character role.” It’s probably agreeable that Willis hasn’t taken many character roles over the years, though perhaps there’s still time for a clearly talented actor to win true critical acclaim. Clint Eastwood - initially regarded as a real journeyman actor - wasn’t nominated for an Oscar until he was 62, though Willis questions whether he has the same staying power. “The middle years to now makes me start to think that there should come a time when I should not work so much. I don't question other actors in their age and what they do; I just think, 'Wow, they're still fucking great.' They're still doing it,” he said.

It’s hard to determine where Willis’ award winning roles – if any – are going to come from in the coming years. He’s set to appear in the Sin City sequel and will star opposite Jamie Foxx in the crime-drama Kane & Lynch about a pair of death-row inmates. A turn in Jeffrey Nachmanoff’s American Assassin is unlikely to bare Oscars riches.

25 years after the first Die Hard film was made, Bruce Willis struts down the red carpet for the 5th instalment of the action franchise, A Good Day To Die Hard. And he's not done yet. 

On a rainy red carpet in London's Leicester Square last night (Thurs Feb, 7) Willis said to The Huffington Post: "I seldom think about the passage of time. I'm always surprised to hear that it's been 25 years. It's still fun to do." And at the age of 57, he admitted that the early starts and long hours don't put him off. "I still like making movies. They're fun to do, especially these Die Hard films," explained Bruce. So will we be seeing a sixth Die Hard movie? It would appear Willis isn't ruling anything out. Die Hard 5 sees John McClane team up with his son, Jack, to fight off the terrorists. 

Australian actor Jai Courtney - who plays McClane Junior - says the experience was "fun" but "surreal" at times. "Bruce is a lovely guy. We had a lot of fun making the movie. It was surreal and kind of strange but a lot of fun," he said. "You need a lot of trust too and we were able to work together in an organic fashion and had a lot of fun in the process. There was a lot of chemistry there," added Courtney.

Just as Quentin Tarantino was quizzed relentlessly about America's gun laws ahead of the release of Django Unchained, this week it was Bruce Willis' turn to defend the use of firearms in his new movie, A Good Day To Die Hard. Whereas the acclaimed director shrugged off the questioning with consummate ease, Willis was only too happy to comment and gave a pretty surprising answer.

Most Hollywood liberal types are pretty keen to back President Obama's gun-law proposals, though Willis remains cautious. "I think that you can't start to pick apart anything out of the Bill of Rights without thinking that it's all going to become undone," the actor told the Associated Press. "If you take one out or change one law, then why wouldn't they take all your rights away from you?" Willis - whose films have grossed over $2 billion in North American alone - reprises his most famous character John McClane in the fifth instalment of the Die Hard franchise, hitting theaters on February 14, 2013. The Hollywood hard-man makes a living out of shooting bad guys, though Willis played down a link between Hollywood and massacres such as those in Connecticut and Colorado last year. "No one commits a crime because they saw a film. There's nothing to support that," Willis said. "We're not making movies about people that have gone berserk, or gone nuts. Those kind of movies wouldn't last very long at all."

Bruce Willis has spoken out about his opposition to the suggestion of a proposed gun ban in the US following the tragic Connecticut school shootings.

In an interview with The Associated Press, the 'Die Hard' star spoke of his fears that any change to the second amendment to the US constitution could result in all human rights being relinquished. 'I think that you can't start to pick apart anything out of the Bill of Rights without thinking that it's all going to become undone', he said. 'If you take one out or change one law, then why wouldn't they take all your rights away from you?' He has also argued with the suggestion that violent movies and video games are the type of thing that causes gun violence in America such as the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Connecticut and at the cinema in Aurora, Colorado - two events which took place last year within months of each other.  'No one commits a crime because they saw a film. There's nothing to support that', Willis said. 'We're not making movies about people that have gone berserk, or gone nuts. Those kind of movies wouldn't last very long at all.'

The actor is well-known for his violent action movies such as 'Pulp Fiction', 'The Fifth Element', 'RED' and, most famously, the 'Die Hard' movies; the fourth of which, 'A Good Day To Die Hard', is due for release on February 14th 2013.

Updates From Sundance Film Festival And The London Critics' Circle Awards Plus Trailers For, Stoker, Emperor And Red 2

As the Sundance Film Festival continues in Utah, buzz is emerging about the new Nicole Kidman movie Stoker, in which she plays the widowed mother of teen Mia Wasikowska as they deal with the arrival of the unexpectedly sexy Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode). From the director of Old Boy, a new trailer depicts the film as a stylish, warped and very black comedy. It comes to cinemas on March 1st.

Here in Britain, two leading awards contenders open this week. Steven Spielberg's Lincoln stars Daniel Day-Lewis, the front-runner in the Best Actor race. This would be his unprecedented third win in the category. And Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty stars Jessica Chastain, who is currently the favourite for Best Actress, although Jennifer Lawrence in Silver Linings Playbook is giving her some serious competition.

But no one should write off iconic French actress Emmanuelle Riva's astonishing turn in Amour. She won the London Critics' Circle Film Award for Best Actress on Sunday. The London critics also gave Amour their Film of the Year title, and it's up for Best Picture at the Oscars as well.

Bruce Willis, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich and Mary-Louise Parker star in RED 2 - the sequel to RED - which is scheduled to be released on August 2, 2013.

Praised for its wit and style, RED proved to be an unexpected success, and while not every critic was impressed, a worldwide gross of $186,100,000 certainly pleased the studio. RED 2 brings back the team of retired CIA operatives as they use their old-school style to take on a new set of enemies all across Europe. Filming started in Montreal in September.

Futuristic action thriller Looper was released on DVD and Blu Ray on New Years Eve. Now, we can understand you not rushing out to buy it while you were busy blowing up balloons, calling your friends and deciding what to wear on NYE, but if you haven't picked it up yet, here are five reasons why you have to.

Alright, we'll admit it: DVD extras are never that good, and you can usually catch them on YouTube without shelling out. But hear us out. With deleted scenes, and a mini-doc that guides us through the film's fantastic score, they're probably worth sitting through once you've given the film its 5th run. Here are the features in full, as well as a peak at the animated trailer, which will look much better on your trillion megapixel, thousand inch TV. We promise.

Divorces usually mean families being torn apart, but in the case of Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore's divorce, the only thing being split is bank accounts, as the pair continue to bicker and draw out their divorce just that little bit longer.

Considering both of them are absolutely loaded, you'd have thought that they would have something else to argue about other than money, but apparently not. According to TMZ, Demi is stalling on the divorce, which took a year to arrive as it is, because she wants a big cash payout from the split.

When she split up from Bruce Willis in the 90's, Demi apparently got one heck of a divorce settlement and this time round she wants something along those same lines, despite the fact that Demi is richer than Ashton by quite some way. Whilst testimonies from differing sources vary, one excuse for the elongation of the divorce process says that Demi is just waiting for the right financial resolution to be settled before she is ready to pull the plug on the marriage. Other sources say that Ashton was waiting for Demi to file proceedings for the divorce, something she never did.

Little has caused more contention in the contactmusic office than our recent discussion about the Christmas films list! Obviously, everyone has their own favourite, and to them that will always be the top of the list. One thing that became all too clear to us was that - with the exception of Elf & Bad Santa - there really hasn't been too many full blown Christmas films so we'd like to make a plea to Bill Murray and the other Hollywood greats - PLEASE make a new (top quality) Christmas film to join these festive favourites! 

I can't say we particularly advocate parents encouraging their offspring to watch films above their age certificate, but it appears we all grew up in houses that didn't really mind what we watched - and let's face it, some of the best Christmas films might have a few boobs or rowdy drunken behaviour... As children of the 80's and 90's, we're fully aware that there's original to some of these remakes, but as is always the way, these are the films we grew up with and as such, they are our favourites. 

Enough explanation, in no particular order here are the films we recommend you watch over the holidays!
