Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston is set to play blacklisted Hollywood screenwriter Dalton Trumbo in a new film, according to reports.

The casting news comes as Cranston prepares to say goodbye to his U.S. Tv drama character Walter White on 29 September (13).

Trumbo will tell the story of the blacklisted screenwriter, who penned many Hollywood screenplays such as Spartacus and Exodus, and went on to win two Oscars.

In 1947, Trumbo refused to testify in front of the U.S. Congress during an investigation of Communist influences in the movie industry and he was sent to prison in 1950 for contempt.
