A replacement has now been found for Bryan Singer after he was axed from the 'Bohemian Rhapsody' project, with Dexter Fletcher stepping into his shoes. Filming is expected to resume next week, just days after Bryan was let go for his unreliability and frequent absences.

51-year-old Dexter will be directing the forthcoming Freddie Mercury biopic starring Rami Malek, after Bryan Singer was fired for neglecting the project while he tried to care for a sick parent. The new director certainly has less experience in the job, but there's every reason he'll do it justice.

He's the man behind 'Eddie the Eagle', 'Sunshine on Leith' and 'Wild Bill', the latter of which earned him his first BAFTA nomination in 2013. Of course, he is probably more famous for his acting career, having appeared in films the likes of 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', 'Layer Cake', 'Kick-Ass' and 'Smoking Guns' as well as TV shows such as 'Hotel Babylon', 'Band of Brothers' and 'Press Gang'.

However, there's some question of whether or not Dexter will be able to add 'Bohemian Rhapsody' to his growing list of film credits, given that Bryan Singer had all but completed principal photography on what he described as his 'passion project' when his contract with Fox was unexpectedly terminated.

'I wanted nothing more than to be able to finish this project and help honor the legacy of Freddie Mercury and Queen', Bryan said in a statement. 'But Fox would not permit me to do so because I needed to temporarily put my health, and the health of my loved ones, first.'

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Dexter was also attached, along with Matthew Vaughn, to an upcoming Elton John biopic entitled 'Rocketman', which is rumoured to be starring Taron Egerton in the lead role.
