Busta Rhymes allegedly threatened to slap fans at the BET Awards in June.

The 43-year-old rapper is being investigated by police because of the incident, in which he reportedly told a woman he would ''bite'' her if she bumped into him and charged at her at the Black Entertainment Television event on June 28.

Kim Simpson claims she was dancing with her friend near the rapper at Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater and attempted to apologize for bumping into him.

According to TMZ, the 'Pass the Courvoisier' hitmaker allegedly retorted with a warning that he would ''bite'' them if it happened again.

He said: ''I'll bite you and not that kinda bite.''

The situation escalated when the women were taking photographs with reality TV star Deelishis, and Busta was caught on camera, at which point he reportedly said ''Don't make me slap you'' and charged at them.

Police are now attempting to interview the rapper as part of a criminal investigation.

The 'Break Ya Neck' rapper - whose real name is Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr - was also arrested last week in connection with an assault after he allegedly threw a protein drink at a member of staff in Manhattan's Steel Gym.
