Fashion designer Calvin Klein has begun demolishing his $30 million (£19.35 million) New York mansion to make way for a more modest property.
Klein has been bidding to tear down the lavish 55,000 square foot home in the posh Hamptons area of Long Island, nicknamed Dragon's Head, and replace it with a smaller, modern structure.
And he appears to have been granted permission by planning officials to go ahead with his plans, after workmen were seen knocking down the walls of the huge house on Wednesday (20May09), reports TMZ.com.
The design guru's new home will be a fraction of the size of Dragon's Head - it will span 17,000 square feet and will be spread between three buildings connected by underground tunnels.
