It looks like Cara Delevingne's Instagram audition for the role of Harvey Quinn in Suicide Squad has paid off. The supermodel posted a picture of herself dressed as the Joker's accomplice earlier this month, and it caught the attention of top executives at Warner Bros.

The studio has already announced that David Ayer will begin a new slate of movies with the super villain movie Suicide Squad and Delevingne is now in-line to play Harley Quinn, who first appeared in the Batman stories.

The report comes from the Latino Review - a website with a track record of accurate exclusives - with wrier El Mayimbe posting: "Got tipped off by sources that Warners is seriously looking at 22 year old English fashion model, socialite, actress, and singer Cara Delevingne for the villainous female role in the film."

Early drafts of Suicide Squad are not believed to have featured Harley, though producers appear to have changed tact.

Delevingne, who has numerous film credits under her belt, is also being considered for a role in Pirates 5. She will next be seen starring opposite Kate Beckinsale and Daniel Bruhl in the thriller The Face of an Angel.

Suicide Squad is scheduled for an August 2016 release, with Tom Hardy, Ryan Gosling, Will Smith and Margot Robbie all rumored to be in discussion for roles. Jesse Eisenberg could also appear in the movie, given he plays the primary villain Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
