Billie Lourd confirmed at the weekend (12Mar-13Mar) she will return alongside her famous mother in Star Wars: Episode VIII.

The actress will be following up her brief cameo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens where she was seen playing a Lieutenant to her mother, now known as General Leia.

She even sported plaited, Princess Leia style hair buns in homage to her mother's iconic Star Wars look.

Billie can be seen in show Scream Queens as Chanel. And at a Fox promotional event for the show at PaleyFest in Los Angeles she revealed she has spoken to Star Wars director Rian Johnson.

When quizzed if she had been asked to return to the film, she told "I can't say much about it, but yes."

She also confirmed to another reporter who asked what her next movie project was, "I am working on Star Wars VIII​, but that's all I can say," reported

In The Force Awakens, Billie's character was Lieutenant Connix, who was seen in a scene at Resistance Base. Her only line was, "General, are you seeing this?" addressed to real-life mum Carrie, but she indicated her role would be bigger in the follow up.

Production crew have been spotted filming the latest instalment in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Members of the cast were seen in full-costume filming a chase scene with a futuristic, hovercraft-style vehicle.
