Carrie Underwood's Song 'Two Black Cadillacs' To Be Made Into TV Show

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood's hit track 'Two Black Cadillacs' tells a very ominous story of two women seeking revenge of the same man after finding out they are both romantically involved with him, so it isn't a surprise that such a compelling plot is being adapted into a television show.

Underwood's tale of vengeance, murder and treachery has been picked up by Fox to be turned into a six-hour limited event series, according to Deadline.com. The 'American idol' alum is also going to team with Jerry Bruckheimer and executive produce the production, which is already in development.

Miranda Lamberts "Platinum" Strikes Gold With Reviewers

Miranda Lambert Carrie Underwood

Miranda Lambert naming her new album Platinum might turn out to be a self fulfilling prophesy. Not only is the record, which came out on Tuesday, already on top of the iTunes sales chart, the critics are in love as well. Lambert’s strength has always been in her clever lyrics, her fiery sound and, well, her sass. Fans will be happy to hear that, despite her being a married woman now, the sass is still strong with this one.

Miranda Lambert
The new record shows a maturity that really suits Lambert, say reviewers.

Says Jamieson Cox of TIME Magazine: “Platinum doesn’t reinvent the wheel in any sense, but it doubles down on the qualities that have helped Lambert become one of country’s most reliable stars: broad, plain-spoken feminism, rousing choruses that split the difference between archetypal country and contemporary pop-rock, and frank, funny, fully realized depictions of the protagonist at the heart of these songs.

NBC To Follow 'Sound Of Music' Success With Live Performance Of 'Peter Pan'

NBC Carrie Underwood Stephen Moyer

NBC will hope to emulate the success they had over the 2013 seasonal period when they aired a live performance of The Sound of Music starring Carrie Underwood and Stephen Meyer. The show was a huge success for the network, earning strong viewer figures and a considerable amount of positive press, paving the way for another similar spectacle for the coming Christmas period: Peter Pan.

NBC took little time to announce its intentions to air another live, theatrical performance this coming Christmas-time, following the convincing success of The Sound of Music last month. At its peak, that performance scored more than 18 million viewers and held on to a strong amount of viewers for much of the telecast. Looking to capture similar audience figures again, the network have opted for a familiar story which translates from the stage to screen well and has a long history of multiple reconstructions. Peter Pan then seems like the ideal choice to keep this festive formula running.

Celine Dion came back with a bang with her powerful single 'Loved Me Back to Life' and album of the same name, but whilst the album and single drew considerable buzz when it was released in October, people seem to have forgotten about Dion without much hassle. In a bid to rejuvenate interest in her singing and her first English-language record for six year, the Canadian singer is planning a double whammy just before Christmas.

The pair will perform the mid-tempo album track on the Tuesday (17 December) finale, which airs on NBC 9 p.m. (ET/PT). As well as releasing the track as her third single from the album, Dion won't be done with the festive giving just there, as she also has another TV performance lined up after her appearance on The Voice.

Was NBC's 'The Sound Of Music' One Of America's Favourite Things Last Night?

Carrie Underwood Stephen Moyer Julie Andrews NBC

The hills were alive last night, as NBC broadcast the live stage version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic stage show The Sound of Music. Favouring the original stage production over the 1965 movie version, the three hour showcase was one of the biggest talking points in America and managed to draw in a considerable audience number throughout its broadcast, but was it actually any good?

The Sound of Music
The show received a mixed reception from viewers and critics alike

The live broadcast was the second highest trending topic on micro-blogging site Twitter, falling just behind the death of former South Africa president and anti-apartheid hero Nelson Mandella. On Twitter, audiences at home wrote of their approval or disapproval throughout the broadcast, with the overall view of the production being skewered down the middle as to whether it was any good. Some people loved it, and were particularly full of praise for Underwood, whilst others loathed the production, and were critical of the lead performance from the country star.

NBC have lined up a very special treat for musical lovers this Christmas, albeit one that initially aroused warning when its lead role was announced. Whilst some people have seen the appointment of Carrie Underwood to portray the kindly nun Maria in their live broadcast of The Sound of Music as a poor casting decision, one person who thinks she'll make a great Maria is the woman who launched the character into the instantly recognisable character she is today: Julie Andrews.

Neil Patrick Harris will look to further his claim as a natural awards show host when he takes to the stage at the 65th Annual Emmy Awards this Sunday, 22 September. Having built up an impressive resume already as co-host of the awards in 2009 and as a four-time host of the Tony Awards, the How I Met Your Mother star needed no incentive to take on the challenge of hosting the Emmy's this year.

Stephen Moyer Hired To Add Extra Bite To New 'Sound Of Music' Adaption

Stephen Moyer Carrie Underwood

Stephen Moyer has been cast as Captain Georg Von Trapp in the upcoming adaptation of the classic musical The Sound of Music. Moyer will star in the three-hour production, which is being based on the original 1959 Broadway production of The Sound of Music rather than the classic 1965 movie version, in what will be a major departure from his more familiar role in the raunchy HBO vampire series. However far away it seems from his True Blood credentials though, the 43-year-old actor has more than his fair share of musical experience, having most recently starred in a version of Chicago at the Hollywood Bowl.

Carrie Underwood, the 30-year-old country star, covers the June issue of Marie Claire wearing a Burberry Prorsum swimsuit with a price tag of $1,195! In the accompanying interview, Underwood opened up about life growing up in Oklahoma and her current home life with hockey pro husband Mike Fisher.

"I'm not a mushy person at all. We were never a huggy family. Or a 'let's talk it out' family. Technically, I have siblings, but they are quite a bit older than me. I was the accident, so I have the only-child syndrome going on," she explained. Underwood, who won American Idol in 2005 and went on to become one of America's biggest country stars, said of her rise to fame, "At the beginning of my career, I used to have panic attacks. People were touching me, screaming - it made me really nervous. In public, I just get nervous. It's a physical reaction, feeling like the walls are closing in.The fans are great. It's not their fault. I don't ever want to come across as ungrateful. But on my end, it is hard for me to process because I am still just me."

As for starting her own family, the singer said she doesn't feel old enough to have children yet, admitting, "I know I am mature. But being responsible for another human?"

Carrie Underwood Replacing Faith Hill On Sunday Night Football

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood is to replace Faith Hill on Sunday Night Football – err, not as a host, she’ll be taking over the theme tune that her country contemporary recently vacated. Hill has been singing Waiting All Day For Sunday Night for six seasons of the NFL show but recently revealed she wouldn’t be returning for a seventh, but the producers have done well in getting Underwood in instead, who will adapt the song to suit her style.

Talking to Billboard, Underwood commented "For me, it just always seemed like something that would be fun to do.” She added "To watch Faith do it week after week, to see that hype for the game, it's something that's so cool." Underwood’s stock is arguably as high as country legend Hill’s; she’s a former American Idol winner and six-time Grammy winner after all, not to mention hugely successful commercially and has come into contact with the NFL before – singing the national anthem at the 2010 Super Bowl.

She’s also married to hockey player Mike Fisher of the Nashville Predators who is friends with several NFL players and is apparently thrilled with his wife’s new career move. "He's a sports dude," she said. "Yeah, he plays hockey, but he definitely loves football, as do I." The first Sunday night game is scheduled for September 8th between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants.

Carrie Underwood 'Very Excited' To Be Joining 'Sunday Night Football'

Carrie Underwood Faith Hill NBC

Carrie Underwood will sing the opening theme to NBC's Sunday Night Football program, the network announced on Tuesday (April 7, 2013). It appears to be a plum deal for the country star, given SNF is easily one of the most-watched television shows in the country. The new season kicks off in September.

Grammy-winner Underwood replaces fellow country star Faith Hill on the show, who had sang the theme 'Waiting All Day For Sunday Night' since 2007. "I'm very excited," Underwood, 30, told Reuters, "I think it's a perfect fit and I am such a sports fan and football fan, and we love Sunday nights around my household, so for me to be a part of it is something really special."

Underwood's signing is probably more relevant to sports fans given she is married to the Canadian ice hockey star Mike Fisher. She also sang the national anthem at the 2010 Super Bowl - the biggest event on the football calendar. A prominent musical introduction has become a staple for prime time football broadcasts in the U.S. since Hank Williams Jr reworked his song 'All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight' as the theme for the Monday Night Football program in 1989.

Standing In The Way Of Control: Carrie Underwood Talks OCD And Punctuality

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood has spoken about her ‘OCD’ approach to time-keeping, arguing that it’s one of the few elements of her life that she can control, so she likes to be early for any appointments, wherever she can. “I'm O.C.D. about time, I'm early for everything to the point where it freaks people out,” says the country music star. “That's my one - it's a good thing I guess, but I know it's annoying to the people around me. I'm on time for everything. If I'm late something's wrong, like I've wrecked my car… My life is so nuts, there are few things I am in control of, but those I am uber in control of. That's why I'm on time, because I can control that.”

The pressures of fame don’t just affect Underwood’s approach to punctuality though. She admitted that she is ‘weird’ about food and cleanliness too, telling the Daily Mail “I'm weird about food, because I can be… There's certain organisational things. Stuff has its place all the time. I'm not a clean freak, but there are certain things that have their place and that's the place they have to stay.”

Carrie is in London, currently, because she’s headlining the Country to Country music festival, taking place at the O2 Arena in the capital city. Carrie told the UK publication that she’ll be mixing up her set a bit so that those attending the event will know some of the songs, as well as introducing them to her newer material. “we definitely want to sing songs we thought people might recognise a bit more, so there's stuff from my first album that I haven't done for a while in my concerts back home.”

Underwood And Swift: Are Carrie And Taylor Really Feuding?

Carrie Underwood Taylor Swift Gayle King

Underwood and Swift: is there anything to the feud rumors, or were they devised by the American tabloid press to drum up some excitement ahead of a dull looking Grammy Awards? It's becoming clearer by the day that it may well have been the latter, with Carrie Underwood claiming she knows nothing of any bad blood between herself and the biggest country star in the world. Rumors ahead of the Grammys suggested Swift had made it clear that she didn't intend to sit anywhere near Carrie inside the Staples Center, "Taylor feels Carrie is always rude to her, so she steers clear of her," a source recently told US Weekly.

Underwood addressed the rumors during an interview with Gayle King for a CBS This Morning interview (set to air Wednesday), saying, "No [there's no feud], not that I know of at least." Seemingly in a pleasant mood, Carrie said she was a big fan of Swift, even revealing which song is her favorite. "I really like 'I Knew You Were Trouble.' It sounded a lot different for her. I liked the branching out, trying some different sounds," she told King. Though Underwood's remarks certainly make it less likely that such a feud really exists, we're still to hear from Taylor Swift, who was reported to have ordered the Grammys seating planners to split the pair up in the first place. The question is, why would Underwood be rude to the 'We Are Never, Ever Getting Back Together,' singer?

Both entertainers had prominent roles at Sunday's Grammy Awards, with Swift opening the show and Underwood delivering perhaps the most memorable performance of the night in a 'digital projection screen dress' while singing Blown Away and Two Black Cadillacs.

Carrie Underwood Opens Up About Her ‘Feud’ With Taylor Swift

Carrie Underwood Taylor Swift Gayle King Grammy Awards

Ahead of the Grammys awards on Sunday, speculation was rife that Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood had made it very, very clear that they didn’t intend to sit anywhere near each other inside the Staples Center. “Taylor feels Carrie is always rude to her, so she steers clear of her,” a source recently told Us Weekly. So was it true? Were the two biggest names in country music really at each other’s throats?

Not according to Underwood.

The 29-year-old Grammy winner was quizzed on the apparent feud by Gayle King for a CBS This Morning interview (set to air Wednesday), saying, “No [there’s no feud], not that I know of at least.” Somewhat ironically, Carrie said she was a big fan of Swift, even revealing which song is her favorite. “I really like ‘I Knew You Were Trouble.’ It sounded a lot different for her. I liked the branching out, trying some different sounds,” she told King.

Beyonce can't put a foot wrong at the moment

Enough about the winners of the Grammy Awards, what we want to know is who won when it came to the fashion parade! Yes, whilst Mumford & Sons might well have taken the evening's top prize, album of the year, their folky style has no place in this piece, the best dressed last night (February 10, 2013) as usual proving to be those who constantly show pedigree when it comes to stepping out of an evening looking glamorous. We'd count Beyonce among those; even when she is putting a foot wrong - like lip-syncing the national anthem - she manages to come out it blooming, so choosing an outift to wear for the Grammy's should be no problem for her. So it proved with the above black and white retro looking number.

Underwood $31 Million Necklace Wows Grammys Audience As Much As Onstage Projection Dress

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood’s $31 million necklace was the talk of the town at last night’s Grammy awards. Most singers want to look a million dollars when they show up to perform at the Grammys but Carrie decided she was going to go one better. Or 30 better, to be precise, as she rocked up wearing a stunning designer necklace, by Johnathon Arndt.

The necklace, according to US magazine, featured 381 carats of oval, pearl, marquis and brilliant white diamonds, a press release from Arndt revealed. Carrie wore the necklace to complement her black, strapless Roberto Cavalli dress. Or, in this instance, we suppose she was wearing the Roberto Cavalli dress to complement the $31 million worth of bling that she was sporting. Underwood, 29, joked that the necklace was “worth more than me.”

It wasn’t just the jewellery that stunned the Grammy’s audience though. During her performance, in which she sang her tracks ‘Blown Away’ and ‘Two Black Cadillacs,' she wore what appeared to be a simple, light grey ball gown. When the performance was under way though, the dress projected a variety of different images. It was a very different look to the one that she opted for off-stage but it seems that both were considered winners in this year’s awards style stakes.

Carrie Underwood Lights Up The Night In Stunning Gown At The Grammys

Carrie Underwood Grammy Awards

To say a person or performer lights up a room is often merely a turn of phrase, but when it comes to Carrie Underwood, it is meant in the most literal of senses. Her sensational performance at the 55th Grammy Awards last night in Los Angeles was given something extra by her extraordinary dress which acted as a screen for which to project a variety of beautiful light imagery onto.

Underwood proved that her win for Best Country Solo Performance was well deserved as she sang 'Blown Away', the track for which she won the award. The incredible Theia couture gown was adorned with roses, butterflies and more abstract shapes as the song went on. The singer had to stand perfectly still for the effect to work, which she managed to do effortlessly.

As the Daily Mail reports, the dress was designed by four people and took 80 hours to make. With hand embroidered Swarovski crystal detailing, and 10 yards of satin, it was managed to bridge the gap between fashion and technology. And despite it being difficult to tear your eyes away from the dress during her performance, that was part of the effect. "There are so many big performances at the Grammys and sometimes I like to just stand still and perform," she said. "So (the dress) was the best way to do it, to create a cool environment."
