Fashion Week Front Row: Why The Best Seats Go To The A-Listers

Fashion Week is in full swing, so as per tradition, everyone is looking to the front row at fashion shows as much as the runway. For a while now, the front row has been the place to be seen, not just to see next season’s looks. So it’s about time for a round-up of this year’s most fashion-conscious celebrities.

AnaSophia Robb, Pier 40
Robb might play an 80s suburban teen on television, but her style definitely wasn't left behind.

The Rebecca Minkoff show on Friday attracted a whole host of Millenial Hollywood starlets. Anna Kendrick sat next to Carrie Underwood, who sat next to The Carrie Diaries star AnaSophia Robb, who sat next to Girls star Zosia Mamet. In short, it was like a nominees list for a Teen Choice award. Apparently, after taking fashion blogs by storm, Rebecca Minkoff is now steadily conquering young Hollywood as well. And with a collection dominated by short skirts, school girl inspired uniform dresses and uber-trendy dark makeup looks, it’s no surprise that the show appears to the younger crowd.

Carrie Underwood Suffers Backlash Following Emmy's Beatles Tribute

Carrie Underwood Beatles

Carrie Underwood was introduced to the stage by Don Cheadle at last night's 65th Annual Emmy Awards in what was supposed to be a moving tribute to the stars that we have lost over the past year, whilst also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the death of former-President John F. Kennedy and the first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show by The Beatles. As moving as the whole thing was supposed to be, there were plenty of people who thought otherwise, and the singer promptly received heaps of criticism following her performance.

Carrie Underwood CMA
Carrie Underwood was "off key" in her performance

Cheadle introduced a montage of news clips and archive footage from the 1960s featuring the presidency of JFK and his assassination, as well as clips from the height of Beatlemania. Underwood then took to the stage to give her own version of one of the Fab Four's most famous tracks, but as far as a great number of Twitter users were concerned, the clips of the Kennedy assassination wasn't the only murder that occurred on the night.

Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves Dominate This Year's CMA Awards Nominees List

Taylor Swift Kacey Musgraves Miranda Lambert Blake Shelton Carrie Underwood Jason Aldean

The CMA nominations have been announced, y’all, and this year everyone’s favorite country girl Taylor Swift appears to have some competition, in the face of debutante Kacey Musgraves. Both Swift and Musgraves received six nods for the country awards, including categories, which have been almost reserved for Taylor for the past couple of years – Album of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year.

Taylor might have some tough competition in the face of newcommer Kacey Musgraves.

The other favorite to win some of those… pointy… statuettes this year is Miranda Lambert, whose work has been nominated in both solo and group categories (with Pistol Annies) and whose special brand of sass has been making waves this year. Lambert’s husband, Blake Shelton is also up for five categories, including Entertainer of the Year and Album of the Year. No surprises there, but with Swift, Musgraves and Carrie Underwood all competing in the Album category, he’ll have a tough time beating the odds. The same goes for the Entertainer category, where Shelton is once again up against that powerhouse of a performer Swift, as well as Jason Aldean, George Strait and Luke Bryant – all huge names in country at the moment.

Stage Tumble Leads To Some Hilarious Tweeting From Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood Brad Paisley

Carrie Underwood is a talented, rich and beautiful country singer, but she became instantly more relatable to clumsy regular folk everywhere, when she took a rather ungraceful tumble onstage during her Corpus Christi concert on Thursday. To her credit however, Underwood took the fall and subsequent injury, even tweeting a picture of her foot (expertly pedicured, of course) in a walking brace.

Rolling Stones Unite With Carrie Underwood To Rock Toronto

Rolling Stones Mick Jagger Keith Richards Ronnie Wood Charlie Watts Carrie Underwood

The Rolling Stones might have a few years on youngsters in the business these days, but they have no qualms about collaborating with new talent, as their recent performance, featuring Carrie Underwood, clearly shows. The Stones stopped by Toronto's Air Canada Centre last weekend and performed a gig off their 50th anniversary tour.

One of the biggest surprises of the night came as the band launched into an amped up rendition of “It’s Only Rock’n’Roll (But I Like It)” Just as Jagger was ripping through the second verse, Underwood, typically a country songstress, strutted up on stage and joined in, launching into a sing-off that must have been worth hearing live. Underwood even got her own moment to shine, with a brief solo right before Jagger joined back in. Then the audience even got treated to a bit of a visual show, when, during the lively instrumental provided by Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts, the two singers bust a move together. You’d think the younger Underwood would have the upper hand in that, but Mick definitely wasn’t letting up.

Carrie Underwood Makes Rolling Stones Cameo Live Appearance

Carrie Underwood Rolling Stones

Yeah, yeah we’ve all been on stage with The Rolling Stones. Oh wait, actually we haven’t. So no wonder Carrie Underwood was tweeting her delight after she got the chance to appear with the grizzled rock veterans during their show at Toronto’s Air Canada Center.

According to E! Online, the country star joined the group for a rendition of ‘It’s Only Rock ‘N Roll (But I Like It)’. She was unable to hide her delight after coming off stage and told her followers "I just sang with the @RollingStones! Holy cow! I walked off stage and said, 'What just happened?!' Still can't believe it!" The exuberance of the 30 year-old mega star just goes to show that the stature of the British group is still sky high.

However Underwood isn’t the only star to have joined the group on their tour of North America, in fact she joins an extended list of stars who’ve turned up to play with Mick Jagger et al. Among the other names who have appeared with the band on their jaunt, include Dave Grohl, Tom Waits, Keith Urban, Gwen Stefani and Katy Perry. Perry decided to grind up against the 69 year-old Mick Jagger during her turn. It was weird.

Carrie Underwood Replacing Faith Hill On Sunday Night Football

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood is to replace Faith Hill on Sunday Night Football – err, not as a host, she’ll be taking over the theme tune that her country contemporary recently vacated. Hill has been singing Waiting All Day For Sunday Night for six seasons of the NFL show but recently revealed she wouldn’t be returning for a seventh, but the producers have done well in getting Underwood in instead, who will adapt the song to suit her style.

Talking to Billboard, Underwood commented "For me, it just always seemed like something that would be fun to do.” She added "To watch Faith do it week after week, to see that hype for the game, it's something that's so cool." Underwood’s stock is arguably as high as country legend Hill’s; she’s a former American Idol winner and six-time Grammy winner after all, not to mention hugely successful commercially and has come into contact with the NFL before – singing the national anthem at the 2010 Super Bowl.

She’s also married to hockey player Mike Fisher of the Nashville Predators who is friends with several NFL players and is apparently thrilled with his wife’s new career move. "He's a sports dude," she said. "Yeah, he plays hockey, but he definitely loves football, as do I." The first Sunday night game is scheduled for September 8th between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants.

Carrie Underwood 'Very Excited' To Be Joining 'Sunday Night Football'

Carrie Underwood Faith Hill NBC

Carrie Underwood will sing the opening theme to NBC's Sunday Night Football program, the network announced on Tuesday (April 7, 2013). It appears to be a plum deal for the country star, given SNF is easily one of the most-watched television shows in the country. The new season kicks off in September.

Grammy-winner Underwood replaces fellow country star Faith Hill on the show, who had sang the theme 'Waiting All Day For Sunday Night' since 2007. "I'm very excited," Underwood, 30, told Reuters, "I think it's a perfect fit and I am such a sports fan and football fan, and we love Sunday nights around my household, so for me to be a part of it is something really special."

Underwood's signing is probably more relevant to sports fans given she is married to the Canadian ice hockey star Mike Fisher. She also sang the national anthem at the 2010 Super Bowl - the biggest event on the football calendar. A prominent musical introduction has become a staple for prime time football broadcasts in the U.S. since Hank Williams Jr reworked his song 'All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight' as the theme for the Monday Night Football program in 1989.

Standing In The Way Of Control: Carrie Underwood Talks OCD And Punctuality

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood has spoken about her ‘OCD’ approach to time-keeping, arguing that it’s one of the few elements of her life that she can control, so she likes to be early for any appointments, wherever she can. “I'm O.C.D. about time, I'm early for everything to the point where it freaks people out,” says the country music star. “That's my one - it's a good thing I guess, but I know it's annoying to the people around me. I'm on time for everything. If I'm late something's wrong, like I've wrecked my car… My life is so nuts, there are few things I am in control of, but those I am uber in control of. That's why I'm on time, because I can control that.”

The pressures of fame don’t just affect Underwood’s approach to punctuality though. She admitted that she is ‘weird’ about food and cleanliness too, telling the Daily Mail “I'm weird about food, because I can be… There's certain organisational things. Stuff has its place all the time. I'm not a clean freak, but there are certain things that have their place and that's the place they have to stay.”

Carrie is in London, currently, because she’s headlining the Country to Country music festival, taking place at the O2 Arena in the capital city. Carrie told the UK publication that she’ll be mixing up her set a bit so that those attending the event will know some of the songs, as well as introducing them to her newer material. “we definitely want to sing songs we thought people might recognise a bit more, so there's stuff from my first album that I haven't done for a while in my concerts back home.”

Carrie Underwood And Jason Aldean Lead Tributes To The Late Mindy McCready

Mindy McCready Jason Aldean Carrie Underwood Leann Rimes

Tributes have poured in from the world of country music after the shocking news emerged that troubled country star Mindy McCready allegedly took her own life in her home yesterday (February 17, 2013). Sadly McCready never fully capitalized on her twice platinum selling debut album Ten Thousand Angels, released in 1996 when she was just 20, and in an all-too-familiar tragic tale, her life was eventually over taken by legal issues and substance problems.

Nevertheless her music, including five studio albums, inspired many who’ve gone on to make waves in the genre, and that was replicated in the messages that came out on Twitter in wake of the news of her death. “Just heard about Mindy McCready. My thoughts and prayers are with her 2 boys and her family” wrote the multiple award-winning Jason Aldean, whilst American Idol alumni Carried Underwood added “I grew up listening to Mindy McCready...so sad for her family tonight. Many prayers are going out to them...”

Other who came forward in homage to the late singer included Leann Rimes, who wrote “My heart goes out to Mindy McCready's family. I knew her well. It's a horribly [sic] tragedy. May peace be with her son's.” Those who were big at the time of her own height of fame chipped in too, with Wynonna Judd writing “Oh my! Mindy. Dear sweet girl. This is so sad. It just breaks my heart what addiction continues to take from this life.” McCready was 37 years old at the time of her death; just last month her boyfriend had died of a suspected suicide.

Underwood And Swift: Are Carrie And Taylor Really Feuding?

Carrie Underwood Taylor Swift Gayle King

Underwood and Swift: is there anything to the feud rumors, or were they devised by the American tabloid press to drum up some excitement ahead of a dull looking Grammy Awards? It's becoming clearer by the day that it may well have been the latter, with Carrie Underwood claiming she knows nothing of any bad blood between herself and the biggest country star in the world. Rumors ahead of the Grammys suggested Swift had made it clear that she didn't intend to sit anywhere near Carrie inside the Staples Center, "Taylor feels Carrie is always rude to her, so she steers clear of her," a source recently told US Weekly.

Underwood addressed the rumors during an interview with Gayle King for a CBS This Morning interview (set to air Wednesday), saying, "No [there's no feud], not that I know of at least." Seemingly in a pleasant mood, Carrie said she was a big fan of Swift, even revealing which song is her favorite. "I really like 'I Knew You Were Trouble.' It sounded a lot different for her. I liked the branching out, trying some different sounds," she told King. Though Underwood's remarks certainly make it less likely that such a feud really exists, we're still to hear from Taylor Swift, who was reported to have ordered the Grammys seating planners to split the pair up in the first place. The question is, why would Underwood be rude to the 'We Are Never, Ever Getting Back Together,' singer?

Both entertainers had prominent roles at Sunday's Grammy Awards, with Swift opening the show and Underwood delivering perhaps the most memorable performance of the night in a 'digital projection screen dress' while singing Blown Away and Two Black Cadillacs.

Carrie Underwood Opens Up About Her ‘Feud’ With Taylor Swift

Carrie Underwood Taylor Swift Gayle King Grammy Awards

Ahead of the Grammys awards on Sunday, speculation was rife that Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood had made it very, very clear that they didn’t intend to sit anywhere near each other inside the Staples Center. “Taylor feels Carrie is always rude to her, so she steers clear of her,” a source recently told Us Weekly. So was it true? Were the two biggest names in country music really at each other’s throats?

Not according to Underwood.

The 29-year-old Grammy winner was quizzed on the apparent feud by Gayle King for a CBS This Morning interview (set to air Wednesday), saying, “No [there’s no feud], not that I know of at least.” Somewhat ironically, Carrie said she was a big fan of Swift, even revealing which song is her favorite. “I really like ‘I Knew You Were Trouble.’ It sounded a lot different for her. I liked the branching out, trying some different sounds,” she told King.

Beyonce can't put a foot wrong at the moment

Enough about the winners of the Grammy Awards, what we want to know is who won when it came to the fashion parade! Yes, whilst Mumford & Sons might well have taken the evening's top prize, album of the year, their folky style has no place in this piece, the best dressed last night (February 10, 2013) as usual proving to be those who constantly show pedigree when it comes to stepping out of an evening looking glamorous. We'd count Beyonce among those; even when she is putting a foot wrong - like lip-syncing the national anthem - she manages to come out it blooming, so choosing an outift to wear for the Grammy's should be no problem for her. So it proved with the above black and white retro looking number.

Underwood $31 Million Necklace Wows Grammys Audience As Much As Onstage Projection Dress

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood’s $31 million necklace was the talk of the town at last night’s Grammy awards. Most singers want to look a million dollars when they show up to perform at the Grammys but Carrie decided she was going to go one better. Or 30 better, to be precise, as she rocked up wearing a stunning designer necklace, by Johnathon Arndt.

The necklace, according to US magazine, featured 381 carats of oval, pearl, marquis and brilliant white diamonds, a press release from Arndt revealed. Carrie wore the necklace to complement her black, strapless Roberto Cavalli dress. Or, in this instance, we suppose she was wearing the Roberto Cavalli dress to complement the $31 million worth of bling that she was sporting. Underwood, 29, joked that the necklace was “worth more than me.”

It wasn’t just the jewellery that stunned the Grammy’s audience though. During her performance, in which she sang her tracks ‘Blown Away’ and ‘Two Black Cadillacs,' she wore what appeared to be a simple, light grey ball gown. When the performance was under way though, the dress projected a variety of different images. It was a very different look to the one that she opted for off-stage but it seems that both were considered winners in this year’s awards style stakes.

Carrie Underwood Lights Up The Night In Stunning Gown At The Grammys

Carrie Underwood Grammy Awards

To say a person or performer lights up a room is often merely a turn of phrase, but when it comes to Carrie Underwood, it is meant in the most literal of senses. Her sensational performance at the 55th Grammy Awards last night in Los Angeles was given something extra by her extraordinary dress which acted as a screen for which to project a variety of beautiful light imagery onto.

Underwood proved that her win for Best Country Solo Performance was well deserved as she sang 'Blown Away', the track for which she won the award. The incredible Theia couture gown was adorned with roses, butterflies and more abstract shapes as the song went on. The singer had to stand perfectly still for the effect to work, which she managed to do effortlessly.

As the Daily Mail reports, the dress was designed by four people and took 80 hours to make. With hand embroidered Swarovski crystal detailing, and 10 yards of satin, it was managed to bridge the gap between fashion and technology. And despite it being difficult to tear your eyes away from the dress during her performance, that was part of the effect. "There are so many big performances at the Grammys and sometimes I like to just stand still and perform," she said. "So (the dress) was the best way to do it, to create a cool environment."

Grammys Preview: Taylor Swift Plans To Avoid Carrie Underwood, Why?

Taylor Swift Carrie Underwood Frank Ocean Fun Mumford And Sons

Though Frank Ocean is going to win every award, it might be worth tuning in to the Grammy Awards this Sunday (February 10, 2013) if only to witness the possibility that Taylor Swift might bump into fellow country star Carrie Underwood. According to an insider, Grammy executives have been ordered to keep Swift, 23, and Underwood, 29, "from crossing paths." Their reason? "They hate each other!"

The feud appears to have begun when Underwood and Brad Paisley mocked Swift's split from Conor Kenned while hosting the Country Music Association Awards in November. "The greatest trade of the year had to be the Kennedy family. They somehow traded Arnold Schwarzenegger for Taylor Swift," Paisley joked about Swift dating the 65-year-old bodybuilder's nephew through marriage. When Underwood whispered in his ear that the young couple had split up, Paisley feigned disbelief "What? Why don't I ever hear about these things?...I'm the last one to know. Are they ever gonna get back together?" Underwood, of course, said, "Never, ever." The whole thing was rather cringe-worthy, but was enough to get Taylor's back up, according to the insider. A source close to the singer - known for writing songs about her failed relationships - told US Weekly magazine, "Taylor feels Carrie is always rude to her, so she steer clear of her."

It's set to be a big night for Swift in particular, who will open the show at Los Angeles' Staples Center on Sunday." What's interesting is we presented this performance to the Grammy committee . . . and they said, 'Okay, cool, you have a performance spot.' And then like a week ago they call us and are like, 'Oh, by the way, you're opening the show," Swift told Ryan Seacrest Thursday. Despite her prominent live slot, it's unlikely that Swift will walk away with anything too prestigious at the biggest night in music, with Frank Ocean, Fun, Mumford & Sons and Goyte likely to lead the charge for the major prizes.

Luke Bryan Smashes American Country Awards With Nine Accolades

Luke Bryan Jason Aldean Eric Church Miranda Lambert Lady Antebellum Carrie Underwood Brad Paisley Jake Owen Lauren Alaina Little Big Town Zac Brown Band

Luke Bryan scooped a whopping nine awards at the American Country Awards on Monday (December 10th 2012) missing out on only two other possible titles.

The artist won nine out of 24 awards which, considering fifteen of those were reserved for females, groups, collaborations and new artists, isn't bad at all as he only lost out on two other possible accolades for 'Touring Artist of the Year' which went to Jason Aldean and Song of the Year which went to Eric Church and his song 'Springsteen' featuring Jeff Hyde and Ryan Tyndell. Luke's awards included Artist of the Year (general and male category), Album of the Year for his Tailgates & Tanlines, Single of the Year (both general and male) for 'I Don't Want This Night To End' - a song which also earned him Music Video of the Year (general and male, again) and Most Played Radio Track (once more, for the general and male categories).

Miranda Lambert was the highest female earner of ACA accolades, winning three for her song 'Over You': Single of the Year (Female), Music Video of the Year (Female) and Most Played Radio Track (Female). Lady Antebellum won the most awards for a group including Artist of the Year (Group) and Single of the Year (Group) for their song 'We Owned The Night'.

Carrie Underwood To Star In New Adaptation Of Sound Of Music

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood has some big shoes to fill, but hopefully she will ease into them nicely when she takes on the role of Maria Von Trapp in the latest adaptation of The Sound Of Music.

The TV adaptation, which will be filmed next year to air around the 2013 festive period, is the latest take on the Rogers and Hammerstein classic, whose most famous incarnation came in 1965 when Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer starred in the multi-Oscar winning 1965 film version. The show has constantly been on the stage since it was first debuted in 1959, becoming an instant classic.

Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment, referred to the appointment of Underwood in a statement to the press, saying: "Speaking for everyone at NBC, we couldn't be happier to have the gifted Carrie Underwood take up the mantle of the great Maria von Trapp."

Carrie Underwood Set To Star As Maria Von Trapp In New Version Of Sound Of Music

Carrie Underwood Julie Andrews Christopher Plummer

The hills are set to be alive with the sound of Carrie Underwood, when the country-pop star takes on the role of Maria Von Trapp in the upcoming TV adaption of the Sound of Music.

The former American Idol winner will take on the famous role in a new TV production for NBC, based on the much-loved Broadway original. The latest adaptation will see Underwood perform live over a three-hour broadcast, set to air next year, a network executive revealed yesterday (Nov 30th).

The TV adaption is being produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the production team behind NBC’s well-received musical series Smash, as well as having helmed the acclaimed film versions of musical hits Chicago and Hairspray, so there's few worries over whether those in charge will know what they're doing. The pair are also in charge of the upcoming Academy Awards Ceremony in February, so expect a song and dance or two for then.

Carrie Underwood To Play Maria In NBC Version Of The Sound Of Music

Carrie Underwood

The Sound Of Music as a play has been done to death, surely no one can breathe new life into the character of nun gone wild Maria. Well, NBC think they’ve found someone capable of it; none other than American Idol alumni and bona fide country music smash hit Carrie Underwood!

The Daily Mail reports that the network will be putting out the live special of The Sound Of Music that’ll air around the holiday period of next year. Underwood will be playing the role first made famous by the great Julie Andrews and it will provide a significant step up in her acting profile. The star’s past experience is relatively limited, having had a small part in the 2011 film The Soul Surfer. She’s also co-hosted the Country Music Association Awards for five years, though we’re not sure if that’s going provide her with any help for the forthcoming role. Her singing certainly will though, and it’ll be a treat to hear her belt out the many classics from The Sound Of Music.

Although Julie Andrews might be the name forever synonymous with the role of Maria Von Trappe, the play actually debuted six years before the 1965 film, playing on Broadway in 1959.

Justin Bieber arrives for the AMA Awards in Los Angeles

THe 40th anniversary of the American Music Awards brought out all the big names that you'd expect from the US music industry and more, with stars past and present rubbing shoulders at a truly star-spangled gathering at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles yesterday (November 18, 2012). However, despite the presence of Youtube sensation Psy - who closed the evening by being joined by MC Hammer for his huge hit 'Gangnam Style' - the US biggest selling artist of the year Taylor Swift, and pop royalty Usher and Christina Aguilera, there was only name on everybody's lips. Justin Bieber took home the top award of the evening, Artist Of The Year, and his mom Pattie Mallette was there to celebrate it with him.

Out Now: US Album Releases (Nov 6) Aerosmith, Ne-Yo, Skyfall OST, Third Day

OK, so the majority of the US public have just one race on their minds today and that’s the US Presidential race. But once that’s been decided in a few hours, all thoughts will surely be turning to the all-important albums chart race… surely? Can any of this week’s releases threaten Taylor Swift’s position at the top or will she get a second term at number one?

Aerosmith have returned, after an 11-year hiatus from writing any new material. Time appears to have stood still on Aerosmith-land in those eleven years and Music From Another Dimension is pretty much as you would expect an Aerosmith album to sound. Of course, Steven Tyler’s presence on American Idol has brought the attention of Aerosmith back to a new generation of fans, so much of this material may well even sound fresh to them.

Out Now: UK Album Releases (Nov 5), Robbie Williams, JLS, Aerosmith, Ne-Yo

Robbie Williams Calvin Harris Take That JLS Aerosmith Ne-Yo Carrie Underwood Sia

Calvin Harris will most likely be taking a peek at this week’s UK album’s releases (Monday November 5, 2012) and resigning himself to handing over the albums chart crown to Robbie Williams, come Sunday. In fact, it’s quite appropriate that Robbie has named his album Take The Crown, because that’s exactly what we think he’ll be doing this week.

Take The Crown is Robbie Williams’ ninth solo studio album and if the first single to be lifted from the album is anything to go by, it’s heading straight for the top of the charts. ‘Candy’ went in at number one yesterday, following an appearance from Williams on the UK’s X Factor show the previous weekend. The former Take That singer recently welcomed his first child into the world – what better way to celebrate than with a number one album?

Three Week Reign: Jason Aldean Tops Country Chart With Take A Little Ride

Jason Aldean Miranda Lambert Carrie Underwood Dustin Lynch

Jason Aldean’s ‘Take A Little Ride’ has taking a pretty long ride – straight to the top of the country music charts.

The latest single from Aldean has ben at the top of the charts for three weeks now and is showing no signs of shifting just yet. According to tasteofcountry.com, the success of ‘Take A Little Ride’ is not just good news for Aldean, but also for the three writers involved in penning the chart-topping track: Rodney Clawson, Dylan Altman and Jim McCormick.

‘Take A Little Ride’ is the sixth in a string of Jason Aldean songs to top the country music charts; it certainly seems that he has the Midas touch when it comes to creating chart success for himself (with a little help from his record label of course… and the songwriters). Prior to the release of this current track, Aldean had found success with ‘My Kinda Party,’ ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay,’ ‘Dirt Road Anthem,’ ‘Tattoos on This Town’ and ‘Fly Over States.’ On October 16, 2012, Jason Aldean will be releasing his fifth studio album, Night Train, from which the current track is the debut single.

Girl Power At The 2012 American Music Awards: Nicki Minaj And Rihanna Lead The Way

Nicki Minaj Rihanna Justin Bieber Katy Perry Maroon 5 Drake Mariah Carey Adele Taylor Swift One Direction Kelly Clarkson Train Carrie Underwood Miranda Lambert Usher

Nicki Minaj and Rihanna are expected to clean up at the 2012 American Music Awards, with four nominations apiece, reports Reuters.

Rihanna is top of the table for the main category, as she wards off competition from Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Maroon 5 and Canadian rapper Drake for artist of the year. She’s also in line for female soul/R&B artist and best album, and will lock horns with Minaj for the female pop/rock artist category. Minaj could be recognized for her album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, in both the pop/rock and rap/hip hop categories this year, and she’s nominated for favorite rap artist, too. Minaj has been attracting extra attention recently; her very public feud with Mariah Carey on American Idol culminated in a strange gun threat, but most seem sure the ‘diva-off’ is being played up by Fox to boost the talent show’s viewership.

Elsewhere in the awards, teenage singer Bieber landed three nominations this year, tying with British boy band One Direction, Maroon 5, Drake and R&B star Usher. Adele and Taylor Swift – who dominated the awards last year - received one nomination apiece. Swift will fight for female country artist against Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert, while Adele was nominated in the favorite adult contemporary artist category alongside Kelly Clarkson and Train. The AMA’s - which will be celebrating its 40th anniversary this year - are determined by fans through online voting, which starts on Tuesday. The ceremony and performance show will be broadcast live from Los Angeles on November 18.

Nashville Cry-line: Carrie Underwood Performs Emotional Brad Paisley Duet

Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley performed a surprise duet in Nashville on Sunday night (September 23, 2012). Carrie was so overwhelmed when her fellow country music star Brad appeared onstage alongside that she could be seen wiping a tear from her eye, as they sang their hit duet ‘Remind Me’ in front of the huge crowd at the Bridgestone Arena. The former American Idol singer was watched in the crowd by former contestants David Cook and Lauren Alaina, as well as Kix Brooks and Vince Gill.

The Nashville Arena is fast becoming a familiar haunt for Carrie Underwood. Not only has she headlined the venue three times since 2008 but her husband, Mike Fisher, now plays for Nashville Predators NHL team, making the Bridgestone Arena his team’s home ground. When they walked around the venue earlier on in the day, Mike said to Carrie “you’re on my turf now.” It didn’t take Carrie long to come up with a response and she quickly shot back “I was here first.” She’s got a point, as Mike only joined the Predators last year.

According to a report from the country music radio station WWGP AM1050, during her headline show Sunday night, Underwood was also joined by Hunter Hayes, who had also served as her opening act. Carrie and Hunter performed a duet of ‘Leave Love Alone.’ During his own opening set, Hunter was surprised onstage by staff from his record label, who presented him with a platinum plaque for his hit song ‘Wanted.’
