Carrie Underwood says time apart from her husband is good for their relationship.

The 29-year-old fourth season 'American Idol' winner is married to 31-year-old Ice Hockey player Mike Fisher and says the pair like their space.

She told Us Weekly: ''We don't bring our work home with us very often. Because we're so busy, we make our time together count, like by going on date nights.

''And while we love being together, we also realise time apart is important, so we try not to crowd each other. I love a good girls' night out just like he loves hanging out with his friends.''

While promoting her fourth album 'Blown Away' Carrie says the couple - who have been married for 16 months - are too busy to think about starting a family right now.

She admitted: ''We're not looking to have children any time too soon. Both of our lives are so crazy.

The singer, who will play London's Royal Albert Hall in June, added: ''Something would drastically have to change in our schedules before we can entertain the idea. But for now, married life is wonderful.''
