Brighton five-piece Cave Painting are here with their stunning new single 'Rio' - the lead track from their upcoming four track EP of the same name set for release on April 28th 2013 through Third Rock Recordings.
As emotive and wonderfully creative as the video is, it certainly remained ambiguous on the subject matter with a montage that even the most astute of minds would struggle to describe after the first watch. We see a lifeless body being dragged along as the song opens, followed by a vacant-faced young woman who later dons some sort of space helmet with numerous artistic additions including the image of some sort of orb the frequently arises and a lot of swirling clouds and smoke. The track is equally as dreamlike with slow, ominous vocals and a repeated backing melody coupled with super slow, high synth sounds that add a fantastical quality to it.
The new EP follows their highly acclaimed debut album 'Votive Life' which even saw them reach the US for the SXSW festival in Texas. They also have a string of UK shows coming up soon, the details of which are yet to be announced, along with a one-off performance at London's Dalston Roof Park on May 10th 2013.
