Chad Smith can't understand what Red Hot Chili Peppers' frontman Anthony Kiedis sings.

The 'Californication' singer is known for his unorthodox vocal delivery, but drummer Chad admits even he finds it hard to make out the words.

He said: ''I'm in the f***ing band and I don't understand what the guy is saying!

''Sometimes he'll get kind of lost and look back at me like, 'What's the verse' and I'm like, 'I don't know it all sounds yabba dabba do to me, I don't know what you're saying!'''

The rockers - which also include bassist Flea and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer - have been performing since 1983 and Chad revealed that even thirty years on, their fans are still as strange as ever.

He added to Australian radio station Triple M's 'Merrick & The Highway Patrol' show: ''I got a zip lock bag of pubic hair not too long ago - what are they thinking? What am I going to do with that? I have some of my own hair down there!

''Back in the day Flea would wear underwear on stage and sweat, people from our road crew would tell us, 'Man those girls came back and found the underwear, and they squeezed the sweat out and drank it' and they're like, 'Oh now I have part of him inside of me' isn't that gross? That's some real dedication.''
