Charlie Sheen notoriously had a pretty difficult time a couple of years ago which eventually lead to being sacked from Two and a Half Men, on which he played a character also named Charlie. Now, another star of the show, Angus T. Jones, who plays Charlie's nephew, is also going through a tough time, which has come to a head in a mass of criticism after his testimony for the Forerunner Chronicles was released online. The video included him describing the show as 'filth' and has resulted in many people thinking he's having some kind of meltdown.
Sheen is one of the people both standing up for Jones, but also acknowledging that he's not exactly in his right mind right now. Speaking to TMZ, he said, "Obviously, not having been there for some time, the Angus T. Jones that I knew and still love is not the same guy I saw on YouTube yesterday." Adding, "I dare anyone to spend ten years in the laugh-track that is Chuck Lorre's hive of oppression and not suffer some form of an emotional tsunami."
In a statement, also released to TMZ, Jones made something of an apology, saying: "I am grateful to and have the highest regard and respect for all of the wonderful people on Two and Half Men with whom I have worked and over the past ten years who have become an extension of my family."
Plus, despite Sheen's comments about Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre, Jones added "Chuck Lorre... many others... are responsible for what has been one of the most significant experiences in my life to date. I thank them for the opportunity they have given me..."
Jones' statement is very carefully written and we suspect that someone else wrote it on his behalf. Anyway, now we're intrigued about what Sheen meant about Lorre's 'hive of oppression'. Once all this blows over, perhaps Sheen would care to clarify.
