Fact: Chicago, Broadway's longest-running American musical, will hit the New York stage for the 7,000th time on Tuesday (24Sep13). The show is currently in its 17th year on Broadway and only two other British musicals have had a longer run - Cats (7,485 performances) and The Phantom of the Opera, which is still on stage.

Fact: Chicago producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have been handed the huge task of producing the 85th Academy Awards on 24 February (13). The appointment for the prestigious 2013 ceremony, the biggest night in Hollywood, was announced by Academy President Hawk Kock on Thursday (23Aug12).

Fact: Stage musical Chicago is to end its run in London after 15 years in the West End theatre district. The curtain will come down on the show at the Garrick Theatre for the last time on 1 September (12).

Fact: Pamela Anderson is reportedly in talks to make her Broadway debut as murderess Roxie Hart in Chicago. According to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, the former Baywatch beauty is set to star in the revival of the John Kander and Fred Ebb musical in the role played by Christie Brinkley, Brooke Shields, Melanie Griffith, Ashlee Simpson and Bebe Neuwirth, among others.

Fact: Actor Christopher Sieber has swapped one Broadway production for another - he's quit his upcoming stint in Chicago to replace Jeffrey Tambor in La Cage Aux Folles. The Arrested Development star stepped into Kelsey Grammer's shoes as suave club owner Georges in the drag queen musical last month (Feb11), but bowed out of the show last week (ends25Feb11), citing "complications from recent hip surgery".
