It may have suffered the loss of Jessica Lange from its cast recently, but the new season of FX’s ‘American Horror Story’ is continuing to build a pretty impressive looking new roll call with the addition of Chloe Sevigny today.

On Tuesday morning, the show’s executive producer Ryan Murphy announced via Twitter that Sevigny would be making a return to the program in a more permanent role. Fans may remember that she made a brief - but memorable - appearance during the second season (‘Asylum’), playing Shelley the nymphomaniac.

Murphy tweeted: “Very excited to announce that Chloe Sevigny returns to the AHS family as a series regular on AHS: Hotel”. Some of Sevigny's TV credits include ‘Portlandia’, ‘Bloodline’, ‘The Mindy Project’ and ‘Those Who Kill’.

The next instalment of ‘AHS’, whose full name is ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’, is shaping up nicely though it will be rather different in terms of its cast. Over the last few months, the show has added Matt Bomer (of ‘Suits’), Cheyenne Jackson (of ’30 Rock’) and a guest star role for Lady GaGa.

Crucially, none of the established cast has been definitely confirmed as returning, and last Saturday (March 14th), long-time ‘AHS’ star confirmed her departure from the series at a panel discussion at PaleyFest.

“Yes, I’m done,” Lange told the audience at the panel. “We've had a great run here. I have absolutely loved doing these four characters that I've had the opportunity to play.” This loss is causing some fans to wonder whether the show has any kind of long-term future without its founding star.

But whatever happens, ‘AHS: Hotel’ is sure to be one of the most watched shows when it returns to FX in October. Shooting is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles this summer.
