Has Chris Brown plucked defeat from the jaws of victory? Outraged publications and Twitter folk certainly seem to think so after the star made a Tweet on the third anniversary of the incident that led to his conviction for domestic violence. Brown, of course, hit then-girlfriend Rihanna whilst the pair were on their way to the Grammy Awards. An argument started and Brown lashed out at the pop star, leading to an additional five years of probation and six months community service on top of the assault charge. A restraining order placed on him by Rihanna finished last year and it's since been announced that he'll be performing at this weekend's Grammys, with Rihanna also in attendance and performing.
You'd think after the three years Brown has had since that incident, in which he's had to fight tooth and nail to sustain what at one point looked like a ruined career, he might show a little more humility. It would appear that he's feeling no such thing however and on his Twitter, three years on from the event, he elected to Tweet "Middle finger in full effect today!!! Lol."
Those furious at the Tweet are suggesting that Brown is sticking his finger up at those who've sentenced and punished him over the past three years, and have been angry that he doesn't seem regretful about any of it. The other scenario could be that the artist was just having a good day and wanted Twitter to know about it, not realising the significance of the date - who can really tell with that young rapscallion.
