Chris Colfer finds fan fiction written about him too ''terrifying'' to read.

The 'Glee' star knows there is a group of female fans of the show who obsess about it, but he tries to steer clear of some of their wilder imaginings of what his character, Kurt Hummel, could get up to which they publish online.

He told USA Today newspaper: ''A lot of the (TV) audience think Glee is a documentary. There's a very select group of young girls that really want everything to be real.

''I don't look at [fan fiction], because it's terrifying. It's scary. I just. I can't. I learned that the hard way.

''I don't mind them writing about the character, but when they write about [the Glee actors] doing things with each other, it's just uncomfortable.''

Chris, 24, has also recently fallen foul of a hacker, who managed to hijack his Twitter account and leave fans devastated by tweeting that Chris wouldn't be appearing in the show's final series next year, while he was on a long-haul flight.

Speaking of the incident, he said: ''Whoever this A-hole was that did this knew that I was going to be on this plane and I couldn't be reached. So as soon as I landed, my phone just exploded.''
