Veteran singer Chris De Burgh made a massive $552,000 (£345,000) when he sold his precious wine collection at auction on Thursday (24Mar11).
The collection, which De Burgh has spent 30 years amassing, was made up of 320 bottles and 84 magnums of mainly red wines which went under the hammer at Christie's in London.
A set of 62 magnums of Chateau Mouton Rothschild vintages dating from 1945 made $248,000 (£155,000) - breaking the world record for the sale of a magnum collection of post-World War II wines.
De Burgh said of the sale, "I'm thrilled at the success of my wine auction through Christie's and glad all the wines have found new homes."
