Chris Hemsworth is wanted by Steven Spielberg for a role in 'Robopocalypse'.

The 'Avengers Assemble' actor is reportedly in line to star in the Hollywood director's upcoming sci-fi blockbuster about the human race fighting to survive an apocalyptic robot uprising.

The Script by Drew Goddard is based on Daniel H. Wilson's epic novel, which Spielberg was so excited about that he agreed to direct the film before the book was even published this June.

The 28-year-old hunk made a big impression on the helmer when they met and the Oscar-winning director is keen to make him the film's first signing, according to Deadline.com.

Chris shot to stardom in 'Thor' in 2011 and has since had stand out roles in 'The Cabin In The Woods', 'Snow White And The Huntsman' and he reprised his role as the superhero in this year's 'Avengers Assemble'.

Dreamworks and Fox have teamed up to co-finance 'Robopocalypse', which is scheduled for released on April 25, 2014.

Chris is also set to play the titular character again in forthcoming film 'Thor: The Dark World', which is scheduled to be released in November 2013.
