What Can We Expect From Tim Burton's Big Eyes? [Pictures]

Amy Adams Christoph Waltz Tim Burton

Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz are teaming up with director Tim Burton for his latest project, Big Eyes. The film tells the story of real-life artist husband and wife team, Walter and Margaret Keane, and the struggles their marriage went through as a result of Walter taking credit for Margaret’s work.

Margaret’s staple style of painting was that of kitsch doe-eyed waifs which became very popular in the 1950s and 1960s and made her husband a national celebrity after he mass produced the paintings and claimed the design as his own.

Quentin Tarantino's Scrapped 'Hateful Eight' Would Have Been Bloody 70mm Western

Quentin Tarantino has revealed this week that he has shelved his latest movie project, Hateful Eight, after the scripts that he carefully handed out to a trusted few leaked out, bringing unwanted attention to the director. The filmmaker revealed to Deadline that the script, which was still in its embryonic stages, was handed out to the actors he was courting as leads.

The Hateful Eight script was given to six people, including Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern and Tim Roth but was leaked after one of the actors' agents passed it around. Soon after, Tarantino's longtime agent Mike Simpson began getting phone calls from agents looking to pitch their clients for roles in the proto-movie and the furious director felt compelled to shut the whole project down.

Quentin Tarantino To Make Another Western, But Not A Django Sequel Or Reboot

Quentin Tarantino Christoph Waltz

It’s one of the most enduring questions in cinema: what will Quentin Tarantino’s next film be about? And having enjoyed the process of making Django Unchained and teaching himself the art of the western, the legendary auteur is planning on sticking to the genre, but it’s not going to be a sequel.

Quentin TarantinoQuentin Tarantino is planning on another Western movie

"I can't talk that much about it, but I will say one thing. I haven't told anyone about this publicly, but I will say the genre. It's a western,” Tarantino told Jay Leno on Tonight Show. “It's not a Django sequel, but it's another Western. I had so much fun doing Django and I love westerns so much, that after I taught myself how to make one, it's like 'OK, now let me make another one now that I know what I'm doing.'" (Guardian)

The Venice Film Festival 2013 boasts one of the most intriguing movie line-ups of the year, with two fallen heroes of cinema coming in from the cold and testing out new material after underwhelming efforts last time out.

Terry Gilliam and Jonathan Glazer will screen their new movies, The Zero Theorem and Under the Skin.

Gilliam hasn't been seen since 2009's poorly received The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, while Sexy Beast director Glazer was scolded by the box-office almost a decade ago with Birth.

Gunman And Grenade Wielder At Cannes? Luckily, For Christoph Waltz, Not Quite

Cannes Film Festival Christoph Waltz

The Cannes Film Festival is about glitz, glamour, celebrity and, above all, film. But this year’s event has been blighted some truly bizarre criminal acts.

First of all there was the million-dollar jewelry heist, then a crazed gunman, claiming he had a grenade, has people scuffling for safety. The scary events unfolded at a life TV event, at which Django Unchained star Christoph Waltz was appearing. "I was on a panel at the Studio Canal platform off the beach when a man produced a gun,” explained Waltz. "I think it was a pistol and he fired but luckily for me they were blanks. Then he shouted he had a grenade and again luckily for me there was no grenade. The police have him. They tackled him to the ground." The Cannes festival jury member, added: "I don't know who he was or where he came from or what his problem was." Witness Arthur Laiguesse said: "The bodyguards jumped over the barriers into the crowd and pulled him to the ground. The police arrived and told everyone to run because there was a grenade in his hand."

It was a star-studded (emphasis on 'studded') affair at the punk-themed MET Costume Gala on Monday (May 6th 2013). Among those spotted leaving their hotel in New York City were 'Django Unchained' star Christoph Waltz, model Cara Delvingne, who bravely wore a very spikey dress with a scarily plunging neckline, and 'Bridget Jones's Diary' star Renee Zellweger.

Cannes Jury Boasts Stellar Line-Up Featuring Nicole Kidman And Ang Lee

Nicole Kidman Ang Lee Christoph Waltz Baz Luhrmann Steven Spielberg

This year’s Cannes jury boasts some high profile talent, spanning eight different nationalities. The Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman is perhaps the best known of the line-up and she will be joined by the Austrian actor Christoph Waltz (star of Django Unchained) and the Taiwanese director Ang Lee (Life Of Pi). The jury will be led by Steven Spielberg (E.T.) and will be fleshed out with film veterans from another five countries.

The Indian actress Vidya Balan will not only appear on the jury but will also be at the festival marking 100 years of the Bollywood genre at a gala screening, Entertainment Weekly reports. The Japanese director Naomi Kawase has won the Camera D’Or prize in the past (1997) and the Grand Prize (2007) and will now be taking a place on the judging panel. Similarly, Lynne Ramsey, whose movie We Ned To Talk About Kevin was highly praised at 2011’s Cannes festival. They will be joined by the French actor Daniel Auteil, who won the Best Actor award at Cannes in ’96 and three-times Cannes winner Cristian Mungiu.

This year’s festival will be opened by the highly anticipated Baz Luhrmann movie The Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, on May 15. The festival runs until May 26, when it will close with Forest Whitaker and Orlando Bloom’s Zulu, a political thriller.

Oscar Time? Tim Burton To Direct Christoph Waltz, Amy Adams In 'Big Eyes'

Tim Burton Christoph Waltz Amy Adams

This one's got awards written all over it. Tim Burton has signed up to direct the Weinstein Co's new movie Big Eyes, based on the relationship between Walter and Margaret Keane, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Oscar winner Christoph Waltz and multiple nominee Amy Adams are in negotiations to play the real-life couple, who rose to fame in the art world in the 1950s and 1960s for their popular paintings of big-eyed children.

The drama, with a script from Ed Wood's Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander centers on a decade long dispute between the two after their divorce over who actually painted the famous pictures. Walter compared himself to the likes of Rembrandt, while Margaret vowed to prove she was the true artist by demanding a "paint off." After a years-long court battle, the judge finally ordered the two to paint in court. Walter lost and had to pay millions. He continued to insist he was the painter.

An original take on the movie was set to star Ryan Reynolds and Reese Witherspoon, with Karaszewski and Alexander as directors and Burton as producer, though financing and scheduling fell through. Waltz and Adams appears to be a neater fit, while Burton could really get his teeth into this script.

Yeah sure, so winning The Oscars is pretty important, but don't kid yourself too much, it's what people are wearing on the Oscars red carpet that really interests the punters. This year's awards saw relatively few fashion mishaps, though on the other hand also lacked anyone really taking a chance with their outfit - understandable, perhaps, given the scale of the public platform they were all appearing on.

Oscars 2013: Christoph Waltz Wins Best Supporting Actor For Django Unchained

Christoph Waltz Quentin Tarantino Ben Affleck

And the award for Best Supporting Actor goes to Christoph Waltz for his role in Django Unchained. This was an award comprising some real Oscars pedigree, with every single nominee owning at least one award, but it was Waltz who prevailed.

“Mr De Niro, Mr Arkin, Mr Hoffman and Mr Jones – my respect,” began Waltz’ acceptance speech – his tender acknowledgement of his fellow nominees accompanied with a humble bow met with a warm applause. “My unlimited gratitude goes to Dr. King Schultz, that is, to his creator and the creator of his awe-inspiring world, Mr Quentin Tarantino,” he continued. Waltz, of course, picked up a Bafta for the same role, but beat the favourite Tommy Lee Jones to the gong. He went on to thank his fellow cast members, behind the scenes colleagues and a few friends – a customary affair – but such is his charisma, this award speech still had the gravitas to defy repetition. A deserved award, we think.

Djesus Uncrossed – Christoph Waltz Stars In Django Unchained Spoof As The Son Of God

Christoph Waltz Quentin Tarantino

Not content with satirising Nazis or the slave trade, Christoph Waltz has applied his incredible on-screen charisma to a couple of fantastic Saturday Night Live spoofs.

The first (our favourite) sees Bafta-winning Waltz star as Djesus in ‘Djesus Uncrossed’ – a tale of redemption as Jesus (that guy from best-selling book, The Bible) goes on a killing spree having released himself from his cave of doom. The spoof vid features plenty of references to Django, like, “The H is silent,” but also hails back to Tarantino’s other historical movie, Inglorious Bastards, as Brad Pitt’s character gets a makeover.

Quentin Tarantino Next Movie To Complete 'Rewritten History' Trilogy

Quentin Tarantino Christoph Waltz

Perhaps he was abuzz with inspiration after winning Best Original Screenplay for Django Unchained at last night’s Baftas, but Quentin Tarantino revealed plans to make another historical movie for his next trick, turning Django, Inglorious Bastards and what ever he decides to make next into a re-written history trilogy.

Speaking to a legion of journalists at the glitzy even in London, Tarantino – who was looking his usual unkempt yet strangely charismatic self – announced that his previous two films would keep his next project company. “This (rewritten history theme) begs a trilogy, it begs to have a third movie on this theme. I haven’t decided about what yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised…,” he explained, according to Empire. So what could he cover next? “I wouldn’t be surprised,” leaves us with many more questions than answers. Having already made comedies about the dark days of slavery and the suffering and torment inflicted by Nazi Germany, where can he go next? Could he venture into an apartheid movie? Perhaps he could go way back – as he’s shown chronology isn’t important – and look at slavery in Egypt.

Whatever he does, he should take Christoph Waltz with him. With numerous awards, including another one last night, for his supporting roles in both Django Unchained and Inglorious Bastards, it’s surely time for the Austrian to take centre stage and win Best Actor. We can only hope.

We've all had that moment; looking at photos of our favourite celebs and then jumping out of our seats screaming, 'He's HOW old?!' Well, we've been doing a lot of that here at ContactMusic. Some stars seem to have crept up the age ladder pretty sneakily, the odd wrinkle and grey hair barely registering on our radar, while others don't seem to have aged at all! English football player David Beckham was in his twenties when he rose to global popularity and, looking at his recent H&M underwear advert, it seems that his iconic hairstyles and tattoos are our only way of working out the old from the newer pictures of him. However, he is only 37 and has plenty of time to catch up yet. It's the over-50s that have really had our mouths agape in recent times as we've been scouring the net for the most youthful looking middle to old aged stars.

'Django Unchained' Review: A Dazzling Ride To Compare With 'Blazing Saddles'

Quentin Tarantino Leonardo Dicaprio Jamie Foxx Christoph Waltz

Quentin Tarantino’s latest movie, a spaghetti Western-style look at the American slave trade in the 1800s, has been mired in controversy, of late. Not only has Tarantino been fielding the usual questions about cinematic violence that Tarantino always finds himself fielding, but he’s also been dealing with the tricky subject of slavery and, of course, the use of the word ‘n*gger,’ which has caused uproar, with some viewers (as well as an indignant few who haven’t actually watched the movie).

Given all of the controversy, the talk of violence, the less than humorous subject matter, our reviewer was surprised at just how comical Django Unchained was going to be. Of course, Tarantino’s always had an undercurrent of humor in his movies, regardless of the subject matter, but for this “provocative subject matter,” the humor still came as something of a surprise. The violence is balanced by the comedy and the strong performances from the cast (including Leonardo Di Caprio, Jamie Foxx and Oscar-nominated Christoph Waltz) lend the movie “an underlying drive that keeps us engaged through the blood-soaked violence as well as the more slapstick-style sequences (a KKK raid led by Johnson and Hill feels like a lost sequence from Blazing Saddles).”

If the Oscar nominations alone aren’t enough to convince you that Django Unchained is with a trip to the cinema, then heed our reviewers words: “Tarantino's screenplay is beautifully constructed to even out the tone with exciting action, harrowing nastiness and some darkly involving drama. All while quietly exploring the twisted history of racial relations in America… A dazzling ride.”

Django Unchained Review

Excellent

Tarantino takes an unusually comical approach to a provocative topic, and the result is as controversial as expected. And also startlingly hilarious. At its core, this is another revenge-themed thriller, but Tarantino's snappy, constantly surprising aproach spirals out to explore racial issues over the past 150 years with humour, drama and, of course, grisly violence.

Set two years before the American Civil War in 1858 Texas, the story centres on bounty hunter Schultz (Waltz), who offers the slave Django (Foxx) what seems like a fantasy job: to work with him to capture white criminals dead or alive. Usually dead. Sure enough, everyone is shocked to see a black man not only riding a horse but carrying a gun. When Django helps find three notorious outlaw brothers, he earns his freedom, and Schultz then offers to help free Django's enslaved wife (Washington). This involves staging an elaborate sting on her owner, the bloodthirsty Mississippi plantation owner Calvin (DiCaprio), who runs a ring of slaves who fight each other to the death. But Calvin's butler Stephen (Jackson) suspects that something is up.

Waltz and Foxx have terrific chemistry in the central roles, with Waltz's lively intelligence bouncing off Foxx's physical and emotional intensity. This gives the film an underlying drive that keeps us engaged through the blood-soaked violence as well as the more slapstick-style sequences (a KKK raid led by Johnson and Hill feels like a lost sequence from Blazing Saddles). But Tarantino's screenplay is beautifully constructed to even out the tone with exciting action, harrowing nastiness and some darkly involving drama. All while quietly exploring the twisted history of racial relations in America.

Christoph Waltz Assures Us, Quentin Tarantino Is NOT Crazy

Christoph Waltz Quentin Tarantino

Christopher Waltz has insisted that Quentin Tarantino isn't crazy after the legendary director got asked about gun violence one too many times, resulting in a bizarre Channel 4 interview exchange.

Unfortunately, the unprovoked assertion that someone is not crazy, really serves one purpose: to remind us that Tarantino is probably a little bit crazy. We don't think crazy is a bad thing, after all, you have to be a little bit 'out there' to make the films he has. "I don't believe what I can read... I know it's media, for example I don't read actor's interviews because I know what happens to actor's interviews," says Waltz, whose fantastic performance in Inglorious Bastards earned him an Oscar. "There's no chance in hell that we would actually come across the same way as it was being done. I don't read about Quentin being crazy and quirky because I want to see it for myself and sure enough I saw something completely different and I liked what I saw infinitely better than what I could have read," he added.

Tarantino is evidently sick of being dragged into the gun control debate in the U.S because of the violent content in his films. Django Unchained also faced criticism for 'over use' of the N-word, and for trivializing slavery. Both claims that Tarantino denies.

Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained And Contemporary Slavery In The USA

Quentin Tarantino Christoph Waltz

Quentin Tarantino kept his word to THR that he believes in what he's doing, and that "Not one word of social criticism that's ever been leveled [his] way has ever changed one word or any script or any story [he] tell[s]". His latest movie Django Unchained Tarantino clearly proves this again and he defended his choices with the movie and all its controversial aspects in a post-Golden Globe interview with THR.

"They [the critics] think I should soften it, that I should lie, that I should massage," he said. "I would never do that when it comes to my characters." His colleague, Christoph Waltz who co-starred in Django Unchained alongside Jamie Foxx, backed Taraninto up, saying :'It should be controversial if you make a movie about a story against the backdrop of slavery... You better be prepared for a controversial discussion. I wish more movies gave us an opportunity to talk about subjects that matter to us today."

As all his films have shown, Tarantino has never shied away from 'controversial discussion', and he referred to contemporary slavery and America's own problems in-land. "If you go to Malaysia, there's sexual slavery going on in places like that, but I'm more concerned about the slavery that is going on in America," he said. " Drug laws put so many black males in jails. The way private and public prisons trade prisoners back and forth. It's like they are not even hiding it anymore."

Forget The Controversy: Django Unchained Comes Up Trumps At Golden Globes

Quentin Tarantino Christoph Waltz Leonardo Dicaprio Jamie Foxx Kerry Washington

Quentin Tarantino’s violent historical slave movie Django Unchained may well be mired in controversy right now but it received the seal of approval from last night’s Golden Globe awards. Django Unchained walked away from the ceremony with a Best Supporting Actor award for Christoph Waltz (who plays the role of Dr. King Schultz) and Best Screenplay, for the movie’s enigmatic helmsman, Quentin Tarantino.

Waltz beat off fierce competition from Tommy Lee Jones (Lincoln), Alan Arkin (Argo), Leonardo Dicaprio (Django Unchained) and Philip Seymour Hoffman (The Master). This was by no means a one horse race and in his acceptance speech, he thanked Leonardo DiCaprio, his Django co-star. Accepting the award, Waltz sounded shaky-voiced, clearly overcome with gratitude for the award. Addressing his director, he said “Quentin, you know that my indebtedness to you and my gratitude knows no words” and described his time on the movie as a journey, adding “I can thank all my travel mates, Jamie Foxx and Leo DiCaprio, Sam Jackson, Kerry Washington…” the list went on.

In his own acceptance speech, Tarantino appeared surprised to have won the award. “Wow, I wasn’t expecting this,” began, before thanking his actors and also thanked his friends that he reads the script to. “I don’t want input,” he joked, “ I don’t want you to tell me if I’m doing anything wrong… but when I read it to you, I hear it through your ears.” There was, of course, no mention of his highly publicised spat with interviewer Krishnan Guru Murthy, recently, which ended with Tarantino refusing to answer questions about movie violence and telling him “I’m shutting your butt down.”

Kerry Washington, Django Unchained PremiereHorsing Around: Kerry Washington Stuns At The Django Unchained London Premiere

The Django Unchained cast appeared to have a spring in their steps at the London premiere of Quentin Tarantino's new movie on Thursday evening (January 10, 2013) and quite rightly so. The action-western flick scored numerous nominations at the Oscars announcement earlier in the day, including one for the all-important Best Picture.

It was 35-year-old Kerry Washington - who plays Jamie Foxx's wife in the film - that turned heads at the premiere, outdoing tons of UK celebrities with a dramatic white ball gown emblazoned with a large horse print. Sounds bizarre, though it actually looked pretty elegant. The acclaimed actress teamed the dress with dark lipstick and heels. Co-star Foxx was on-hand to ensure Washington didn't have it all her own way at the premiere though, showing up at The Empire in Leicester Square in a bright purple suit and aqua coloured shirt! Samuel L Jackson was also in attendancing, looking as swarve as ever.

Django Unchained: Have The Bookmakers Drastically Underrated Tarantino's Latest?

Quentin Tarantino Leonardo Dicaprio Christoph Waltz

Django Unchained - Quentin Tarantino's latest movie that briefly held a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes - is a 66/1 shot to win Best Picture at the Oscars in March. In other words: it has no chance. Or so the bookmakers think.

The odds suggest that Clint Eastwood's poorly received baseball flick Trouble With The Curve has more of a chance of landing the Academy Award, as does the animated flick Brave, and British movie Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. The bookmakers' reluctance to give Tarantino's movie any sort of chance is a little confusing, given that it's one of the five films up for Best Motion Picture Drama at the Golden Globes. Django stars Christoph Waltz and Leonardo Dicaprio are both up for Best Supporting Actor, while Tarantino is up for Best Director and Best Screenplay. Ok, so the likes of Lincoln, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Steven Spielberg and Tony Kushner are the hot favorites in those respective categories, but it wouldn't be a huge surprise should Django nick a gong or two. Let's remember, the Golden Globes differs to the Oscars in that the organizers want the biggest stars available crammed into one room. Having Leonardo DiCaprio in the audience would be a coup for the Globes.

The nominations for the Oscars will be announced on Thursday, January 10, 2013. Don't be surprised should Django Unchained get a Best Picture nod, and watch as those odds of 66/1 tumble.

Did Jamie Foxx Just Confirm A Django Unchained Sequel?

Jamie Foxx Quentin Tarantino Christoph Waltz

Django Unchained has sort of taken everyone by surprise. Sure, movie fans were expecting something pretty decent from Tarantino, armed with a cast including Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz, but critics are unanimous in their praise for the film which briefly held a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Producer Harvey Weinstein had floated the idea of splitting Django into two movies, though Tarantino insisted that cinemagoers must follow the story through to the end, in one go. Though rumors of a sequel have been bubbling away for a couple of weeks now, Jamie Foxx is the first cast-member to speak enthusiastically about a second movie. During an interview with Vanity Fair, the Oscar winner spoke in detail about the prospect of furthering Django's story, saying, "I would definitely be interested to see where Django and his wife go. Or just other adventures. There's stories of John Brown, the abolitionist-maybe he runs into John Brown or Harriet Tubman. But he's definitely on the run up in the North, and down South there's "Wanted" posters, but no one really knows what Django looks like," he added, "They only saw him for a second. So there could be a poster and it could look like Don Cheadle or something. You know what I'm saying?" Hmm, seems as though his ideas are pretty vivid - perhaps he's been speaking with Tarantino?

Django Unchained hits theaters in the U.S. on Christmas Day, for all who movie buffs who fancy a generous helping of blood, gore and violence to go with your turkey.

The Golden Globes Nominations, No Surprises For A Great Year Of Film

Quentin Tarantino Leonardo Dicaprio Daniel Day Lewis Rachel Weisz Naomi Watts Helen Mirren Richard Gere John Hawkes Joaquin Phoenix Denzel Washington Maggie Smith Michelle Dockery Ben Affleck Marion Cotillard Christoph Waltz Ang Lee

The Golden Globes are one of the biggest film and television awards in the world. Winning an award from them will almost always top the C.V.s of anyone involved in film. 2012 has been one of the best years in film for a long time, with many films being deemed 'instant classics'. Although, of course, that's said every year, with just a quick glance at the calibre of performances, narrative and cinematography this year it's easy to see why it's being said.

2012's nominations were revealed today with few surprises. The favourites during speculation included Argo, Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty and The Master, and they haven't failed to impress in the Globes' nominations. Lincoln's set to be a big winner with seven nominations, while Argo has 5 nominations, Zero Dark Thirty has 4 and The Master has 3. All four, except The Master, are also in the running for Best Motion Picture, competing alongside Ang Lee's Life of Pi and Quentin Tarantino's re-envisioning of a slave narrative, Django Unchained

Tarantino's film received 5 nominations, which included two in the category for Best Supporting Performance by an Actor, for Christoph Waltz and Leonardo Dicaprio, which proves to us that it's more than worth the watch. Best Director nominations mirrors the Best Motion Picture, and include Ben Affleck (Argo), Stephen Spielberg (Lincoln), Ang Lee (Life of Pi), Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty) and Quentin Tarantino (Django Unchained), which is no surprise really.

Tarantino's Django Unchained: The Reviews Are In And It's Looking Good

Quentin Tarantino Jamie Foxx Leonardo Dicaprio Samuel L Jackson Christoph Waltz

Quentin Tarantino is an exemplary film maker. Not only are his movies infinitely enjoyable, they don't allow for a passive audience. He takes risks with content as well as context and the opening scene of 2009's Inglourious Basterds was a 15 minute conversation, all talk, no action, which requires a fair amount of audience concentration, and is a rare and delightful thing to get right. Tarantino got it right.

Devising difficult chronologies and asking your audience to work things out themselves is also a risk that he has taken repeatedly, and with great success, as in Resevoir Dogs. This time around his potentially controversial offering is Django Unchained, a movie about the 'employment' of a slave in the Deep South as a hitman, on the promise of his ultimate release from slavery.

Starring Jamie Foxx as Django, Leonardo Dicaprio as the 'good German' who offers the promise of eventual freedom, as well as Christoph Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson. Its team is pretty good, to say the least. The premier was held this evening and preliminary reviews are in, with glowing reports. The Guardian's reviewer Peter Bradshaw gave it a full five out of five stars. He said "I can't wait to see it again." Adding that "Django delivers, wholesale, that particular narcotic and delirious pleasure that Tarantino still knows how to confect in the cinema...  It's as unwholesome, deplorable and delicious as a forbidden cigarette."

Quentin Tarantino Still Editing Django Unchained: Will It Be Ready For Christmas?

Quentin Tarantino Leonardo Dicaprio Christoph Waltz Jamie Foxx

From Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained trailer, we sort of grasped what the gonzo-western was all about. Plenty of guns, plenty of violence, plenty of blood, some sharp lines of dialogue and production that somehow manages to be slick and intentionally ramshackle at the same time. Or at least that's what we thought it was all about.

Speaking at the Hollywood Film Awards this week - now considered the first stop on the awards-season circuit - Tarantino admitted he hadn't even finished the move yet, and was still in the editing phase. A little odd, considering he picked up the award for Best Screenplay, telling the gathered audience, "It's strange to get an award while I'm still in the editing room," before joking, "I'll be able to say, 'Hey, you want to take a line out of my award-winning screenplay?" The film is likely to be in contention for the major prizes in the coming months - particularly the acting categories with Leonardo Dicaprio, Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz thought to have turned in strong performances - though will it even be ready in time? It has a Christmas Day release date, so Tarantino had best get a move on to get it perfect for those movie geeks who opt against the traditional turkey dinner this year.

Elsewhere at the Hollywood Film Awards - set up by Carlos de Abreu a couple of years ago because, well, it didn't exist - Bradley Cooper picked up Best Actor for Silver Linings Playbook and it was nice to see Robert De Niro win Best Supporting Actor for the same movie.

Django Unchained Alternative Trailer

German bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz is on the hunt for a brutal gang of murderers, the Brittle brothers. His search leads him to the only person who has information on the group, Django, who is a slave living in the deep south of the States. Schultz crosses his path as he finds Django shackled to a group of other slaves who are all being taken to auction. Posing as a dentist, Schultz requests to buy him from his owners. On the owners' refusal, Schultz ruthlessly shoots them to death and takes the slave. The bounty hunter promises to free Django and take him to rescue his wife, Broomhilda, who has been enslaved by a Mississippi plantation owner on the dead or alive capture of the Brittle brothers. On their success, Schultz frees Django as promised but the pair decides to stick together as bounty hunters full time. Their search for Broomhilda leads him to the 'Candyland' plantation owner Calvin Candie who has trainer Ace Woody train slaves to fight each other for sport. The bounty hunters arouse suspicion from loyal house slave Stephen as they arrive to explore the property under a false guise and soon become under threat by a dangerous organisation who are determined not to let them escape with Broomhilda.

This western drama is directed by the award-winning director, writer and Quentin Tarantino ('Pulp Fiction', 'Kill Bill', 'Reservoir Dogs') and includes a star-studded cast. 'Django Unchained' is a thought provoking story set in the deep south of America two years before the Civil War. It was inspired by 60s western 'Django' along with its sequels and includes a cameo appearance from 'Django' star Franco Nero.</p><p>It is set for release on December 25th 2013 in the US and January 18th 2013 in the UK.

New 'Django Unchained' Trailer Revealed

Leonardo Dicaprio John Foxx Christoph Waltz

Another new trailer for new Quentin Tarantino film Django Unchained has been revealed as anticipation builds towards what promises to be the most gritty of westerns. You can go and have a look at the trailer over at the Apple website if you feel so inclined; the clip once again promises more swashbuckling and gun fighting, with Leonardo Di Caprio taking early attention with a decidedly cocksure, sinister look (a vintage trait for many of Tarantino's characters through time). There's plenty of dialogue between him and Django - played by John Foxx - this time round too, including one tense scene where the slave stands up to him and tells him "I find you curious."

Epic Trailer

Mary Katherine is a regular teenage girl who somehow mysteriously appears in an enchantingly beautiful forest full of talking slugs and miniature soldiers. In this strange new world, a war is waging between the forces of good and those who do everything within their power to try to defend nature, and the forces of evil; those who are responsible for its destruction. Wishing she'd dreamt it all at first, Mary eventually joins a team of weird but friendly characters to help protect this world as well as her own which is also, consequentially, under threat.

Carnage Review

Excellent
Based on Reza's play God of Carnage, this claustrophobic film features only four characters in a single New York apartment. But the acting and directing, as well as a fiendishly entertaining script, make it absolutely riveting.

After their 11-year-old sons are involved in a playground fight, their parents meet to make sure everything is fine. Penelope and Michael (Foster and Reilly), parents of the injured boy, are happy to let bygones be bygones until they begin to suspect that Nancy and Alan (Winslet and Waltz) aren't properly punishing their son. Over the course of the next hour or so, liaisons shift as their civilised surface gives way to seething bitterness. And it certainly doesn't help that they open a bottle of Scotch.
