ColdplayColdplay announce 2017 North American tour dates

The band announced a bunch of new tour dates today (October 7th 2016), which sees them perform in Canada for the first time in five years. The shows will take place from August until October, kicking off at the MetLife Stadium in New York on August 1st 2017, and finishing up in San Diego, California at the Qualcomm Stadium on October 8th.

The tour has already seen them perform to more than 2.5 million people in South America, the US and Europe this year, with Australia and New Zealand dates to come this December. They have been accompanied by supporting acts such as Lianne La Havas, Foxes and Birdy.

It's all in support of their seventh studio album 'A Head Full of Dreams' which they released on December 4th 2015 to number one and number two in the UK and US charts respectively. The album featured hit singles 'Adventure of a Lifetime' and 'Hymn for the Weekend'.

As well as their general tour dates, Coldplay have had quite the busy year with other high profile appearances. They headlined the Super Bowl 50 halftime show in February, with Beyoncé and Bruno Mars also performing, and in June they closed Glastonbury Festival with a stunning duet with the Bee Gees' last surviving member Barry Gibb. Their second Metlife Stadium show in July saw a surprised collaboration with 'Back to the Future' star Michael J. Fox on the Chuck Berry song 'Johnny B. Goode'.
