The One Where Jennifer Aniston Was Replaced: 'Friends' Fan Notices Stand In During Season Nine Episode

Jennifer Aniston David Schwimmer Courteney Cox Lisa Kudrow Matt Le Blanc Matthew Perry

Most of us could probably recite episodes of ‘Friends’ word for word, but one keen-eyed fan has made a startling discovery while revisiting the classic sitcom on Netflix recently. In the season nine episode titled ‘The One With The Mugging’ there’s a split second where Rachel Green is NOT played by Jennifer Aniston and the internet’s mind is blown.

Jennifer AnistonJennifer Aniston played Rachel Green on ‘Friends’ (most of the time).

During one scene in the episode, Joey is enthusiastically ranting about the potential of a monkey also being at his audition, while Rachel stands behind him in a printed shirt. But when the camera pans back that’s not Jennifer Aniston standing behind Matt LeBlanc and she’s not even wearing the same shirt.

Lisa Kudrow Jennifer Aniston Courteney Cox Matt Le Blanc Matthew Perry

If you’re still mourning the loss of ‘Friends’ after all these years, then one fan’s bizarre (and kind of believable) take on how the sitcom could have ended might give you something to think about. What if 'Friends' hadn’t ended with them all leaving Monica’s apartment? What if all 10 seasons were instead revealed to have happened inside the imagination of Phoebe Buffay, who didn't actually have any friends at all?

Lisa KudrowLisa Kudrow played Phoebe Buffay in the classic sitcom.

Writing on twitter ‘Friends’ fan Gareth Stranks shared his idea for how the show could have bowed out and it quickly went viral, because, well it’s pretty extraordinary. Stranks wrote that he wanted the series to be revealed as the ‘meth-addled fantasy of Phoebe Buffay as she stared through the windows of Central Perk.’

Lana Del Rollercoaster: Lana Del Rey has had a week she'll never forget. The pop star's new album, Ultraviolence, has been met with positivity by critics and has earned Del Rey her first Billboard 200 number one. However, the singer's album publicity has risked being blighted by certain comments Lana made in a recent interview in which she appears to glamorise the troubling trend of musicians dying young. Decide for yourself here. Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean, lashed out at Lana over her words. Find out what went down.

Gary Oldman Blunder: Silly, silly Gary Oldman. The actor has earned himself a reputation as one of Hollywood's thinkers but his thoughts on political correctness caused a stir this week. In a Playboy interview, the 56 year-old referenced Mel Gibson's infamous 2006 run-in with the police where he voiced an anti-Semitic view. In an attempt to play down Gibson's words, Oldman ended up sounding an awful lot more anti-Semitic than his fellow actor. Find out what was said. Oldman did release an apology, which can be read here.

Courteney Cox Has Said It, 'Friends' Reunion Is Not Going To Happen

Courteney Cox Lisa Kudrow Matthew Perry Matt Le Blanc David Schwimmer

It must be hard for the former cast members of our favourite 90’s sitcom ‘Friends’. It seems wherever they go and whatever they might be doing now, the big question still is, will there be a 'Friends' reunion? Courteney Cox was the latest victim of the oh so familiar question when she appeared on the ‘Late Show with David Letterman' on Monday. Unsurprisingly the answer was “it’s not going to happen”

Courteney CoxIs a 'Friends' reunion happening? Absolutely not, says Courteney Cox

Whilst it might break the hearts of many ‘Friends’ fans, Courteney did her best on ‘The Late Show’ to try and put the reunion rumors to bed once and for all. When quizzed by the chat show host the actress firmly stated, “it’s not going to happen”. The former Monica also added that if she did say she’d like it to happen then all the other cast members would have to be contacted and told “well Coutneney’s into it” and she just doesn't want to be responsible for that headache.

Courteney Cox Says Friends Reunion "Is Not Gonna Happen"

The F.R.I.E.N.D.S gang getting back together has been mooted for a long time now; loads of other shows and bands for reunions, so why can’t one of the most successful sitcoms of all time get one too? Because it would be awful, that’s why. And Courtney Cox has dealt a hammer blow to those who disagree.

Courteney Cox may have still been legally married to ex-husband David Arquette this time last year, but things are already going so well with new beau Johnny McDaid that Cox may be looking at making the big commitment all over again. Well that's what Ed Sheeran has hinted to The Daily Mirror anyway. The British singer-songwriter has been living rent-free with the Friends actress recently which has perhaps allowed him to gauge Courteney and Johnny's relationship status.

Sheeran said that the couple were already living together and that things are going rather swimmingly: "I'm not sure that it's public knowledge, so maybe I shouldn't have said anything - but, yes, they're already living together. Things are moving fast. He moved in and, judging by the last time I saw them, they couldn't be happier," he said. "They get on really well and are genuinely good friends, pardon the pun," the pop star added.

Tis The Season For Fun, Food And Friends, As Jennifer Aniston And Ed Sheeran Demonstrated

Ed Sheeran Jennifer Aniston Courteney Cox

Yes, we promise the Thanksgiving-related news will be over soon, but how could we help reporting on this unexpected gathering – Jennifer Aniston celebrating with Ed Sheeran. Aleen Keshishian, who is Aniston's manager, posted a pic with the pair on Instagram on Thursday and the folks at People were first to report. Alright, so it isn’t exactly an event (although we hope the chums had a nice time together), but it is a bit of a surprise to even learn that the Aniston and Sheeran are even friends. Apparently the Brit is conquering the hearts of former Friends cast members one by one. Last week, on November 19th, he shared a picture with Courteney Cox. Equally as cute, of course.

Friends fans might have had their dreams squashed by NBC adamantly denying any rumours of a reunion, but so did Lisa Kudrow. During her appearance on Conan this week, Kudrow admitted to having fallen for a false report and a rather convincing graphic. In fact, the Friends actress claimed the graphic was so good, that she began wondering why no one at NBC had spoken to her about joining the project.

Kudrow herself was fooled by reports.

"Okay, first of all. The graphic for this one thing was unbelievable. It looked really real," Kudrow told Conan O'Brien. "And then they were posting this article and the headline was like, 'NBC Confirms 5 out of 6 of the Friends Are In,' and I went, 'Oh my God. They didn't ask me.'"

The couple, who got together in 1999, called it quits in 2010 and have been doing to court song and dance ever since then. According to the Washington Post, a judge officially approved the split this Tuesday, after 14 years of marriage. No details of the divorce settlement have been announced.

Cox and Arquette legally separated on Dec. 31, 2011, about six months before the pair officially filed for divorce. The couple met while filming “Scream” and announced their split in October 2010. Still, the divorce remained civil and the pair vowed to stay friends and continue raising their daughter together. The struggle to get the divorce finalized has been painfully slow, so the fact that the couple managed to remain friends throughout can only be held to their credit.

Additionally, Cox and Arquette also have some shared creative ventures. After Cox gained international stardom on the 90s sitcom Friends, she moved on to the series Cougartown, which is produced, not so coincidentally, by David Arquette. The producer and actor has also appeared in such films as Never Been Kissed. The People website was the first to break the news that the divorce had been finalised.

Friends Reunion 2014: So, Is It Happening Or Not?

Jennifer Aniston Matthew Perry Courteney Cox David Schwimmer Lisa Kudrow Matt Le Blanc

Speculation that the cast of Friends were ready to reunite for a 2014 reunion reached fever pitch last week. Jennifer Aniston, Matt Le Blanc, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox were apparently ready to commit to another season of a show, with a graphic featuring the Friends 'sofa' and 'The One With the Reunion' began circulating online.

The apparent silence of the key stars only added to the rumors, though Friends creator Marta Kauffman finally spoke up at the Call me Crazy premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday night (April 16, 2013). "I'm going to clear this up-it's not happening!" she said, deflating the hopes of thousands of Friends fans. "Friends was about that time in your life when your friends are your family and once you have a family, there's no need anymore." Funnily enough, Kauffman said she first learned of the rumor when overhearing some people talking about it at a bar. Nevertheless, representatives for NBC and Warner Bros are yet to comment, though a source at NBC told E! Online the rumor was "not true."

Last year, Aniston - who played Rachel Green in the long-running series - played down a reunion, especially on the big-screen. "I can't imagine how you would do it, unless you did it years from now.I can't imagine what that would be. It's not normal. Friends is in your living room; Friends is not in a movie theater. It doesn't make sense to me. I think it would be going against its authentic self."

Courteney Cox Reunion With Matthew Perry Set For 'Go On'

Courteney Cox Matthew Perry Jennifer Aniston Lisa Kudrow

Courteney Cox's reunion with her F.R.I.E.N.D.S co-star Matthew Perry will air in April, when the actress, 48, appears on an episode of Perry's freshman sitcom Go On. Cox and Perry - who played husband and wife Monica Geller and Chandler Bing on the NBC sitcom - will reunite nine years after the Friends finale in 2004.

Go On focuses on a sports talk radio host (Perry) who finds comfort and several new pals in a support group after his wife's death. Cox will play a new love interest for her former on-screen husband. It's the latest mini-Friends reunion, following Cox's cameo on Lisa Kudrow's Showtime series Web Therapy. Jennifer Aniston and Kudrow have also both appeared on Cox's show Cougar Town. She recently spoke about her 10-year run on the beloved NBC sitcom, telling US Weekly, "I catch reruns of Friends and I don't even remember being there. I'm like, 'That is funny! I'd love to see the rest of the cast," she added, referring to Perry, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer.

Perry has tasted moderate success with Go On, while Matt LeBlanc won acclaim for his BBC series Episodes. Schwimmer remains busy as an actor, producer and director.

Courtney Cox Declares Season Of Cleavage, At Least On Cougar Town

Courteney Cox Josh Hopkins

If you don’t have enough incentive to tune into this season of Courteney Cox’s show Cougar Town, maybe this will change your mind – the star has decided that this season (and why not all of 2013) will be all about her cleavage.

"You will not see one scene that I don't show my boobs," Cox joked to reporters at a Television Critics Association panel for Cougar Town on Friday "You know what? I'm getting older, so I've decided at this point I'm taking less focus off the face, and focusing [on my chest]. By the time I'm much older, I will just be absolutely nude. I think it's gonna work for me, I hope." She was only mostly joking, however. In fact, Cox and her co-star Josh Hopkins really will strip down for an episode of Cougar Town. The plot? The pair try to spice up their marriage and hold a Naked Day.

And if you think that watching a couple of nude 40-year-olds walk around for half an hour, don’t worry, of course no actual nudity will be displayed in the episode. Cox says that it’s all Hollywood magic and she didn’t really prepare for the nude shoot: "Lighting is everything! I'm not kidding. You could walk into a room and go, 'Wow! I look great today.' And one step further, you're like, 'Oh my God, I look horrible!” We’re sure anyone, who’s ever seen themselves in the mirror, under a club bathroom’s fluorescent lights, will agree there.

Cougar Town Moves To TBS And Courtney Cox Leaves Her Clothes Behind

Courteney Cox Josh Hopkins

Courteney Cox’s Cougar Town is moving from ABC to TBS on Tuesday (January 8, 2013) and by the sounds of a new story from NY Daily News, she’s leaving a lot of her clothes behind.

Oh, you want more details? Well, there’s the episode in which Cox’s character Jules Cobb and her new husband Grayson (played by Josh Hopkins) decide to have ‘Naked Day’ to spice their marriage up a little bit, for starters.

Cox told New York Daily News that Naked Day is “a way to keep their marriage fresh” and Cox explains that although the scenes were filmed discreetly, it was still a bit of a challenge to get everything right and still keep everyone’s dignity intact. “It turned out there was only one place in the whole house where the lighting worked for everything,” Cox explained. “Step away from that spot and it all went to pieces.” It’s not quite the raunchy treat that some might be expecting though, as apparently “someone said it was sexy for five minutes, then it was just two middle-aged people with their clothes off.”

New Cougar Town Will Include 'Naked Day' And Courtney Cox's Boobs

Courteney Cox

The TBS sitcom about a middle-aged Mom starring Courteney Cox and Christa Miller will be back for its fourth season on January 8th and its makers and cast have promised fun stuff from the new series.

"You will not see one scene where I don't show my boobs." Cox said. Creator, Bill Lawrence added "Courteney did declare this year the year of her cleavage" reports Entertainment Weekly. Lawrence also joked, "the big difference is we've shifted from Brian Van Holt not wearing his shirt all the time to Josh Hopkins not wearing his shirt all the time. I think that was probably TBS' only big note."

One story line that fans may be looking forward to this year covers 'naked day'. "It was sexy for about five minutes and then it was just two middle aged people standing around naked," Lawrence said. He's really selling it there.

Scream 4 Review

Very Good
More than a decade after Scream 3, Craven and company reteam for another knowing thriller about scary movies. And by both following and subverting the rules of a reboot, they make a film that's both frightening and hilarious.

On the 10th anniversary of the original killings, Sidney (Campbell) returns to Woodsboro, having put the darkness behind her. Although the Stab movies based on her experience have reached number 7. Then a new spree of grisliness starts, and Sheriff Dewey (Arquette) and his journalist wife Gale (Cox) are on the case. Meanwhile, Sidney's cousin Jill (Roberts) and her pals (Pannettiere and Jaffe) are both fascinated and terrified by what's happening. So are the school's movie geeks (Knudsen and Culkin) and Jill's ex (Tortorella).

Bedtime Stories Review

Good
After dozens of movies, Adam Sandler remains hard to figure out. Most of Sandler's films slavishly follow the mold of most film comedies of the last decade or so: a somewhat funny male star (Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell, Seth Rogen, Adam Sandler) is dropped into an unfunny premise with a lot of gross-out scenes and poop jokes to make up for the lack of laughs.

But the other part of Sandler's "oeuvre" consists of movies like Spanglish and Punch-Drunk Love -- odd hybrids of broad humor and quirk -- and toned-down, frothy mainstream comedies like Click and Bedtime Stories. It would be unfair to accuse Sandler of selling out his artistic vision in these films -- not only because Little Nicky wasn't art, but because the non-manic goofiness of Bedtime Stories may be closer to the real Sandler. And with some script consulting help, someday the real Sandler might make a really good film. Bedtime Stories isn't it, but at least it's mostly aimed in the right direction.

Zoom Review

Weak
Upon its release, Zoom was instantly reviled not only as one of the worst movies of 2006, but one of the worst movies ever made. As I write this it's hovering as the 15th worst film ever per the IMDB's (admittedly unscientific) "bottom 100," one run below Troll 2.

Is Zoom worse than #17 Phat Girlz? Worse than Glitter (#23)? Worse than Alone in the Dark (#38)? Zoom is hardly a masterpiece, but, really now, it isn't that bad.

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective Review

Very Good
Where to start for a film like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is beguiling. Discuss its introduction of quite possibly one of the best comedic and dramatic actors of the last decade? Yammer on about its role in the eventual behemoth of the gross-out/slapstick comedy boom that would finally explode with the Farrelly brothers' There's Something About Mary? Dissect, with careful words, the forgotten, amazingly brief acting career of Funky Cold Medina's biggest fan, Tone Loc? One is at a loss of words as to where to begin to talk about this profoundly absurd film.

It begins with a dolphin. Snowflake, the Dolphins football team's mascot, has been kidnapped and after a brief search, it is decided that only one man is right for the job: Ace Ventura (Jim Carrey). Ventura specializes in crimes involving animals being stolen, lost or mistreated. He's also a total loon; hiding about two dozen species of animal in his apartment, taking dips in shark tanks and harboring an affinity for making his butt talk. When Ace, along with the football teams business assistant Melissa Robinson (Courteney Cox), takes the case, it leads him to a football player, Ray Finkle, who was fired after missing a field goal in the Super Bowl. The murder count rises and the morale of the Dolphins' players' dips as Ace tries to track down Snowflake before the "big game," while also butting heads with Lieutenant Lois Einhorn (a particularly thorny Sean Young).

Barnyard: The Original Party Animals Review

Weak
The animals populating Steve Oedekerk's Barnyard: The Original Party Animals remind me of the plastic Little People figurines with which my two-year-old plays. The cows wear snap-on noses and hold objects in synthetically smooth velvet hands that look more like designer gloves than hooves. The bulbous pigs each sport perfectly positioned mud blotches, as if the spots were painted on by toy factory workers. The visuals fit the overall mood, because Oedekerk has penned a Lion King clone that's tailored to the Fisher-Price crowd. Instead of an MPAA rating, the Barnyard poster should carry a warning: "For ages 5 and below."In this environment - as in many animated scenarios - the animals behave like people whenever humans are out of sight. They talk, dance, sing, belch, blow bumblebees from their nostrils, and cower in fear of wild coyotes (because hyenas were already used in the aforementioned King). Our hero, Otis (Kevin James), is an immature teenage cow sowing his wild oats... or whatever it is cows sow. Think of him as Simba. Otis is nagged by dad Ben (Sam Elliott) - or Mufasa - to take more responsibility. But the selfish cow would rather spend his downtime entertaining his adolescent buds during late-night concerts in the barn.Yes, Barynard forces itself to follow a musical format. It mimics Disney's animation formula to the letter, which means every 10 minutes of exposition must be interrupted by a serenade - in this case, it's a series of barnstorming ditties that includes a slow-churning country cover of Tom Petty's plucky pop castoff, "I Won't Back Down."The predictable Barnyard brings some balance to this summer's animated output. We began with Cars and Monster House, enjoyable features that married relevant messages to their impressive art. Since then, we've chipped away at their progress with noisy, colorful but hollow adventures like this and The Ant Bully. Kids are entertained, but parents are cheated.During my Barnyard screening, a boy who had giggled at every kick, drop, and tumble turned to his mom and asked with sincerity, "Why are you not laughing?" She didn't respond. The kid is Oedekerk's ideal audience member - old enough to chuckle and too young to know better.Out, damn spot!

Really bad Jim Carrey vehicle, his first to make any kind of money at the box office and establishing him firmly in the goofball pantheon. Carrey's gotten way better since then, but whew! this one's a stinker.

November Review

Good
I remember when Greg Harrison was going to be The Next Big Thing. It was 1999, and he was shooting Groove, a movie about this crazy "rave" scene that the kids were into, which was going to be the next Blair Witch Project.

Well, the lackluster Groove eventually made a little over a million dollars at theaters, despite a crush of marketing and hype. (Blair Witch earned $140 million in the U.S.) And Harrison slipped back into obscurity.

Scream 3 Review

Very Good
Normally, as a critic, we are exempt from the cost of seeing a movie. Normally, we get in for absolute zero when we attend a press screener of a film. However, since Dimension, for what appear to be highly mysterious (and controversial) reasons, cancelled the screener of Scream 3 I had to pay.

This is one movie that I did not waste my money on.

The Opposite Sex, And How To Live With Them Review

Weak
Hardly a classic, but Brown and Pollak provide decent comic relief, and Courteney Cox fans will enjoy the many scenes shot with her in a half-open blouse.

3000 Miles To Graceland Review

Bad
Those of you hoping to hear about a clever casino heist picture in the style of Ocean's Eleven are in for a sore disappointment. From this movie's opening frames, featuring dueling CGI-animated scorpions, it's obvious that we're in for some punk-ass director's idea of a snazzy action film.

3000 Miles to Graceland is not the realization of that dream.

Scream 2 Review

Good
Two Words: Flying Camel.

Ha! I got you. You thought it would be "Good Sequel," didn't you? The reason I say Flying Camel is because, in an ordinary universe, Flying Camels do exist (although they do in Wim Wenders' The End of Violence). In the ordinary universe, good sequels are just as rare.

Scream 3 Review

Weak

The minute Kevin Williamson said no to writing "Scream 3," that should have been the end of it. The only thing that made "Scream" special in the first place was the writer's dark, self-aware wit regarding the conventions of the cheesy teen horror genre.

But then, Williamson had already run out of steam when he wrote the series' second installment, which was little more than an unnecessarily convoluted, workaday slasher flick with a couple well-placed sardonic remarks.

Continuing the decline, now comes "Scream 3," which Wes Craven -- the director of the whole series -- swears will be the last one. Good thing, too.

3000 Miles To Graceland Review

OK

All action, MTV editing and bad attitude, "3000 Miles to Graceland" is the kind of movie that happens when a music video director decides he wants to be the next Michael Bay -- reigning king of the brain-dead explosions-and-ammo genre.A fast-paced barrage of gunplay and catch-phrase quips, "Graceland" has the adrenaline-fueled demeanor of Bay's "Bad Boys," "The Rock" and "Armageddon," but its plot revolves around the brazen daylight robbery of a Las Vegas casino and its double-crossing aftermath.

Director Demian Lechtenstein opens with a couple character-establishing scenes in which recent bad dude parolee Kurt Russell meets up with habitual criminal bad dude Kevin Costner and his crew (Christian Slater, David Arquette and Bokeem Woodbine) at a dusty desert motel. Then Lechtenstein jumps right into the action, as this quintet rolls into Vegas dressed as sequin-jumpsuited Elvises and carrying guitar cases hiding high-caliber arsenals within.

They hit a casino and nab $3.2 million in a rip-roaring, very violent shootout sequence in which a seemingly endless supply of $9-an-hour security guards line up to get blown away. Once they escape -- via helicopter from the rooftop -- "Graceland" is never quite that exciting again. But it certainly never slows down.
