Canadian electro rockers Crystal Castles were at the centre of an emergency at a recent Los Angeles concert after riot police shut down the event over safety concerns.
The duo, comprised of Ethan Kath and Alice Glass, took the stage to open the all-night rave party in front of 17,000 people at the Hard Festival outside of Inglewood on Saturday (08Aug09).
As the band finished its set, rowdy fans began jumping from the raised bleacher section and onto the ground, prompting riot police to halt the concert to escort the crowd out of the arena.
A statement on the festival website reads: "We are terribly sorry. Inglewood PD (Police Department) made the decision to shut down the event tonight much to our astonishment and yours. There are many questions to answer, rest assured you will not be left hanging. Please get back soon. The show must go on..."
Other acts scheduled to perform included electronic band Underworld, Canadian DJ/producer Tiga and American rapper Rye Rye.
