Fifty Shades Darker Trailer

When Ana and Christian had their first fateful meeting, neither party knew much about the real person they were meeting. Christian didn't know just how naive Ana really was and Ana didn't quite understand just how dark Christian's thoughts ran. Though from completely different backgrounds and living entirely different lives, the pair were attracted to one another and they began a relationship - one mainly brought about after Christian seducing Ana, his latest younger woman. As dark secrets were uncovered, it became known to Ana that Christian was into BDSM. Still wishing to go ahead with the relationship, Ana finds out just how far Christian is willing to go to get his thrills but realises that she can't be with a man who inflicts that level of pain on someone they care about.

Time passes, Christian continues with his business lifestyle and Ana starts a new job at a publishing house and the former lovers reunite whilst at an exhibition of photography put on by one of Ana's friends. Christian begins to realise that his feelings for Ana run deeper than the usual dominant / submissive roles that usually define his relationships. With Ana now setting the rules, the pair begin a true relationship but as stories about Christian's past are revealed and Ana is introduced to some of the women that involve his past, neither party know exactly how they'll make their relationship work without sacrificing certain aspects.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson reprise their roles as Christian and Ana respectively. Kim Basinger is introduced to the plot as Elena Lincoln a lady Ana nicknames Mrs. Robinson after learning that she seduced Christian whilst still of a young age. Whilst Rookie Blue actor Eric Johnson is cast as Jack Hyde and Bella Heathcote as Leila Williams.

How To Be Single Review

Very Good

There isn't much originality in this rude female-led comedy, but its observations on single life are a nicely updated twist on the Sex and the City formula. The film is also often very funny, keeping the energy levels high while refusing to go down the usual narrative route in each of the loosely intertwined plot-strands.

It's set in New York, of course, where Alice (Dakota Johnson) is newly single and starting a new job. Her colleague Robin (Rebel Wilson) takes her under her wing, teaching her how to be single in the big city. Alice's sister Meg (Leslie Mann) is a maternity doctor who's suddenly feeling the need to have a child of her own. Then just as she becomes pregnant using a sperm bank, she meets the outrageously charming Ken (Jake Lacy), who she thinks might be too young for her. Meanwhile, Alice's neighbour Lucy (Alison Brie) is flirting with the womanising local barman Tom (Anders Holm) as she looks for her perfect man.

Yes, this is another movie in which women define themselves by their aching need for a man. This kind of undermines the "you have to be happy on your own" message, although at least the three main romantic-comedy plots don't fit into the usual cliched structure. The film is packed with frank, girly conversations, exploring how it feels to be single in a society in which coupling up is seen as the ultimate goal. So while commenting on every possible aspect of sex and relationships, the script also tries to say that it's perfectly fine to remain happily unattached. Thankfully, the cast is grounded enough to balance the comedy and romance in realistic situations. Johnson, Brie and Mann all deliver funny, revealing performances as smart women who make silly decisions. Wilson, by contrast, is mere comic relief in the same role she always plays.

Black Mass Review

Good

For a biopic of a real-life person, this feels like an oddly standard mob thriller. It's the true story of Boston gangster James "Whitey" Bulger, and it's told with gritty filmmaking and robust performances. But there's very little about the movie that sets it apart, leaving it as yet another depiction of violent criminal ambition and betrayal. And by the end, it's difficult to escape the feeling that we've seen it all before.

It opens in 1975 South Boston, where Jimmy Bulger (Johnny Depp) runs the Irish mafia, while his brother Billy (Benedict Cumberbatch) is a senator. Their childhood friend John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) is an FBI agent who has asked for their help in taking down the rival Angiulo family, which Jimmy sees as a win-win situation: he'll get rid of the competition while avoiding jail himself. Over the next 10 years, Jimmy expands his operation dramatically, and he's not afraid to get his own hands dirty as he sorts out problems that are created by his sidekicks (including Rory Cochrane, Jesse Plemons and W. Earl Brown), all of whom are increasingly annoyed at his control-freak ways. But as Jimmy becomes even more notorious, the FBI boss (Kevin Bacon) pressures John to take him down.

The actors dive into their roles. Depp transforms himself physically into a prowling thug with terrifyingly piercing eyes. He may be a heartless killer, but he's also a caring family man. Opposite him, Edgerton has a trickier role as a federal agent who operates more like the gangster he'd rather be, casually ignoring the law to push his own agenda. In the sprawling supporting cast, only a few characters emerge memorably: Cumberbatch has a sparky presence, Cochrane offers some thoughtfulness, and Bacon gets to chomp on the scenery. Other roles are much briefer, especially the sidelined female characters.

Universal Announces Postponed Release Date For "Fifty Shades" Film

E.L. James Dakota Johnson Jamie Dornan Charlie Hunnam

In a new twist, the constant bumps in the road for the Fifty Shades of Grey project may have resulted in the release date being postponed for 2015. Reuters reports that Universal Pictures made the announcement on Wednesday. The original release date – August 1, 2014, has been pushed back for February 13 the following year – just in time for Valentine’s day.

Universal made no comment on the reason for the postponed release date, but it may be related to Charlie Hunnam, who was cast to portray protagonist Christian Grey, pulling out of the project on October 13 this year. Hunnam was quickly replaced, however, when Irish actor Jamie Dornan signed on to star alongside Dakota Johnson on October 24. This means that casting problems are probably not the cause of the delay after all.

The film is slated to begin shooting in December. It will be distributed by Universal Pictures' Focus Features. Despite the 50 Shades trilogy having been panned by many critics, the book became the fastest selling paperback of all time in Britain. It remains to be seen whether the adaptation will achieve similar success. The 2015 release date means that it is possible for the film to lose a lot of the built-in buzz from the book release.

Charlie Hunnam Drops Out Of 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Role, But How Come?

Charlie Hunnam Dakota Johnson Ian Somerhalder Matt Bomer

After things were looking so promising and as though they were finally ready to get off the ground, the Fifty Shades of Grey movie has hit yet another stumbling block. Charlie Hunnam, the man signed on for the lead role as Christian Grey, has officially dropped out of the project, leaving the film's makers with the task of finding yet another Grey.

Citing an "immersive" schedule ahead of him as the reason he dropped out of the project, his own excuse has since been followed by others claiming he had ulterior motives to leave the book adaptation behind. When his decision to leave the project was made clear on Saturday, 12 October, through a statement from Universal, it cited "Hunnam’s immersive TV schedule," as the sole reason for his exit, "which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey."

However, since then there have been other explanations as to why Hunnam chose to drop out of the project. According to E! News, the role of Christian Grey would bring with it more and more media attention and Hunnam was already becoming overwhelmed with the attention the role brought him. It isn't the role of the S&M-obsessed Grey that has put him off of the role, just the constant media and fan frenzy that surrounds it and for this reason he chose to give up the coveted role. The attention and the pressure was intense," the source explained.

So far the 50 Shades of Grey project has brought 50 shades of trouble with Universal, first with casting difficulties and now with Charlie Hunnam exiting the project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Sons of Anarchy actor backed out of the project, claiming that his work on the series would prevent him from adequately preparing for the role of Christian Grey. The initial statement by Universal read: The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam’s immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey.”

After months of dithering over casting confirmations, the Fifty Shades of Grey movie makers have finally added another actor to the slowly growing cast credits. Jennifer Ehle Is The Latest Name To Be Added To The '50 Shades' Cast.

Ehle, best known for her BAFTA-winning role in the Pride and Prejudice television series, will take the role of Anastasia Steele's mother Carla; a no-nonsense Southern woman who is currently on her fourth husband. Jennifer Ehle Joins The 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Cast As Anastasia's Mother

Dakota Johnson Charlie Hunnam

The Fifty Shades of Grey cast list keeps on growing, and the latest actor to be assigned a role in the anticipated adaptation of the erotic novel is Jennifer Ehle. The actress will appear as Anastasia Steele's mother, a passing role in the novels but one that is expected to become much more prominent in the film due to Elhe's appointment.

As confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, Ehle is the third name to be attached to the movie project, after Dakota Johnson was cast as Anastasia Steele and Charlie Hunnam was given the role of the BDSM-obsessed billionaire Christian Grey. Her appointment also adds further weight to the project, which had begun to look as though it was destined to fail before filming had even begun as producers at Universal and Focus Features struggled to find a cast and crew when the rights to the book were initially purchased.

Things are running much smoothly now, and with Sam Taylor-Wood signed on to direct and Kelly Marcel having reportedly finished the screenplay for the film, work on the project is due to begin before the end of 2013. The film is being produced by Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and the novel's author EL James.

The best-selling books, written by E.L. James, are to be adapted into a film due to be released next year. The trilogy follows the romantic relationship between Christian and Anastasia, particularly on his more unconventional sexual habits, namely S&M. The books made E.L. Aaron Paul Has Finished Making Meth, Now Has A 'Need For Speed' [Trailer + Pictures]

Aaron Paul Dakota Johnson Dominic Cooper

When Aaron Paul’s name popped up in a Need for Speed casting meeting, it’s doubtful another name was even considered. The actor has carved out a huge fan base for himself, due solely to his Grammy Award-winning portrayal of Jesse Pinkman in AMC’s Breaking Bad.

Need for SpeedNeed for Speed is coming in Spring 2014

He’s as marketable as Breaking Bad is critically acclaimed, and the two aren’t mutually exclusive. But this project represents a risk for Paul; Need For Speed is a video game franchise being adapted for the cinema, and that doesn’t always mean guaranteed success, critically, anyway.

Inside The Fifty Shades Of Grey Auditions. "I Really Can't Do This"

Chloe Bridges Dakota Johnson Charlie Hunnam Sam Taylor-Wood

The Fifty Shades of Grey auditions were shrouded in mystery - nobody really knew who auditioned, until now of course. With Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson now the proud owners of two of the biggest roles of 2014, the actors and actresses who failed to convince Universal that they were right for Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele are beginning to come out of the woodwork.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan.com at the Alice + Olivia presentation for the New York Fashion Week, Chloe Bridges - best known for her role in The Carrie Diaries - dished on her audition for the role of Anastasia, and it ain't pretty.

"There were three pages of sides that I was going to audition with," she explained. "I read them and then was like, I really can't do this."

Finally! Charlie Hunnam Addresses His '50 Shades' Role As Cast-Change Petition Reaches 75K Signatures

Charlie Hunnam Matt Bomer Alexis Bledel Dakota Johnson Sam Taylor-Wood E.L. James

If the prospects of having to get his kit off many times on screen as well as learn how to deftly wield whips and paddles may have flustered Charlie Hunnam, the actor who'll play Fifty Shades of Grey's Christian Grey, then the news that over 75,000 furious 50 Shades readers had taken their discontentment towards him playing the lead male role to Change.org to demand a casting reshuffle, should by rights make him feel practically terrified.

Charlie Hunnam
Charlie Hunnam Is Confident In His Acting Ability & Interaction With Dakota.

However, it seems that the 33 year-old English actor could not be more confident in his skills, and quite probably takes all the petitioning and hate tweeting as a challenge to be the best Grey possible. Describing his experience of the hotly anticipated adaptation of EL James' erotic trilogy so far as "exciting and fun and weird and compelling," there's little sense of fear or trepidation in Hunnam's words as he talks to Hollywood Life.

Charlie Hunnam Finally Speaks Out Following '50 Shades...' Casting

Charlie Hunnam Dakota Johnson Sam Taylor-Wood E.L. James

Charlie Hunnam has at last broken his silence and spoken in public for the first time about his appointment as Christian Grey in the hotly-anticipated 50 Shades of Grey movie adaption. Since he was announced as the star of the film version of E.L. James' smutty text, both he and co-star Dakota Johnson have received little backing from fans of the book, who question the credentials of the two stars.

Charlie Hunnam
Charlie Hunnam is ready for to take on Christian Grey and the naysayers

The star of Sons of Anarchy was speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at the premiere of the newest season of the hit biker series and seemed totally unfazed by the heaps of criticism sent his way by fams, before he's even had a chance to film a single scene for the movie. Arguing his case, Hunnam claims that both he and Johnson exuded chemistry during the initial readings for the film and said that his work on the British series Queer As Folk has prepared him for the explicit scenes he will be performing in the film.

Charlie Hunnam On "Fifty Shades," "Queer As Folk" And On-Screen Chemistry

Charlie Hunnam Dakota Johnson E.L. James

Some fans of Fifty Shades of Grey might disagree, but it does seem like Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam is the perfect choice to play the racy role of Christian Grey – in that he’s willing to do it, at least.

The film’s director Sam Taylor-Johnson still hasn’t revealed how much of the sexual content of E. L. James’ novel will make it on screen, but it’s likely to be quite a lot, considering that sexual scenes make up most of the trilogy.

This might also be part of the reason why several actors and actresses turned down the lead roles before Hunnam and co-star Dakota Johnson agreed.

Nothing Can Stop "Excited" Charlie Hunnam From Starring In "Fifty Shades"

Charlie Hunnam Dakota Johnson Sam Taylor-Wood

Fifty Shades of Grey readers might not be all that happy about the casting of Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam for the lead parts in the film, but the actors themselves couldn’t be more thrilled. Hunnam shared some of his excitement in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter and explained why the role of billionaire Christian Grey, which several actors had reportedly turned down before he was approached, wasn’t enough to make him nervous. Like the source material, E. L. James’s Fifty Shades series, the film will feature a number of very explicit sexual scenes. However, Hunnam, who acted in the Channel 4 miniseries Queer as Folk during his teenage years, is no stranger to the idea. He explained for THR.

Fans are revolting against Hunnam's casting.

"My first job was on a Channel 4 miniseries called Queer as Folk. It was incredibly explicit sexual scenes with a man," Hunnam said. "I mean I'm 16 and 17 years wiser now. So if I could do it when I was 18 with a guy, I can certainly do it at 33 with a lady."

Charlie Hunnam: Who He Is And Why He's Perfect For His 'Fifty Shades' Role

Charlie Hunnam Dakota Johnson E.L. James

So fans all over the world have waited more than a year for news on the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' movie adaptation, but there was a definite resounding disappointment when author EL James finally spilled the main cast over Twitter earlier this week.

With everyone expecting one of a series of major actresses for the role of small, dark-haired, big blue-eyed Anastasia Steele, Alexis Bledel being the favourite, the fact that tall, blonde 'Ben and Kate' star Dakota Johnson was selected caused more than a flicker of annoyance among serious readers. However, probably the more outrageous side of the update was who would take on the challenge of the dark and mysterious Christian Grey: not Matt Bomer or Robert Pattinson as fans had hoped, but 'Sons of Anarchy' actor Charlie Hunnam. As the world reached for Google for a reminder as to who this Newcastle born 33-year-old was, his welcome into the project became the coldest he'd ever received.

Fifty Shades Of Grey Casting Under Fire: Which Major Stars Rejected The Roles?

Charlie Hunnam Dakota Johnson Sam Taylor-Wood

The Fifty Shades of Grey cast, headed by the relatively unknown actors Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson, has come under fire in recent days with fans of E.L James' novel starting a petition to get the decision overturned.

Of course, the 17,000 people who called for producers to remove the duo from the adaptation of the trashy erotic novel need to wake up and smell the coffee. The story - dubbed mummy-porn and critically derided for its silly tale of a domineering billionaire and his submissive student - was never going to attract the likes of Ryan Gosling, Channing Tatum and Michael Fassbender, who were the early frontrunners or the male lead.

Harry Potter star Emma Watson publicly ruled herself out of the running after being repeatedly linked to the Universal Pictures project.

Charlie Hunnam And Dakota Johnson - The Only Choices For "50 Shades"?

Charlie Hunnam Dakota Johnson E.L. James

By now it’s a well-known fact that the actors, selected for the lead parts in 50 Shades of Gray – Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam – don’t really appeal to fans’ tastes. In fact, some avid readers of the book went so far, as to express their distaste with an online petition. It’s written mostly in caps, so you know they mean business.

Charlie Hunnam, Pacific Rim Premiere
Hunnam's credits include roles in Sons of Anarchy and Pacific Rim.

According to The Hollywood Reporter however, at the time of Hunnam and Johnson’s casting, the studio was running out of options. Rumors about possible casting choices, from the somewhat plausible to the downright ridiculous, have been swirling for months. During this entire time, Universal Pictures were working to find the perfect Ana Steele and Christian Grey. According to the Reporter, Ryan Gosling was the first actor to be considered. Unfortunately, he wasn’t interested. The studio’s interest then went to Garett Hedlund and British TV star Christian Cooke, both of whom reportedly passed on the controversial role.

Fans may have their own ideas about who should portray the characters of E.L. James' bestselling series. However, it seems unlikely anything will change despite the outcry. The film's producer, Dana Brunetti, has defended the casting; tweeting in mock surprise of the negative comments. He went so far as to accuse those attacking the casting decision of not being "true fans".

"That's So Wrong!": '50 Shades' Movie Casting Choices Creates Reader Backlash

Dakota Johnson Charlie Hunnam E.L. James Sam Taylor-Wood Alexis Bledel Matt Bomer

They once read Fifty Shades of Grey secretly on the train using Kindles, but now the readers of EL James' notorious "mommy porn" erotic trilogy have stood up and banded together in sheer outrage. With all page-to-screen adaptations, there will always be those who think "I didn't imagine that character to look like that actor," and maybe grumble about it amongst their friends or on the murky depths of a fan forum. However, 50 Shades fans have launched a petition for the male and female leads - Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson - to be changed.

Dakota Johnson
For Some Reason, Many Fans Aren't Digging Dakota Johnson.

The furious petition, launched on Change.org, has now gathered 23.5K supporters who feel that White Collar's Matt Bomer and Gilmore Girls' Alexis Bledel should take the main roles of kinky billionaire Christian Grey and student-turned-sex-slave Anastasia Steele. It's perhaps true; Bomer and Bledel do perhaps fit EL James' character descriptions a little better than the (both blonde) Hunnam and Johnson so there's little wonder as to why these actors were imagined when 50 Shades fans were reading.

It’s the end of days, people. Not delighted with the choices of Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson to play the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, fans of 50 Shades of Grey – or at least one with plenty of time on his-or-her hands – have started a petition to get them replaced.

Why Don't '50 Shades Of Grey' Fans Want Dakota Johnson & Charlie Hunnam In The Film?

Dakota Johnson Charlie Hunnam E.L. James

It was announced earlier this week that after months of searching Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam have been chosen as the lead actors to bring E.L. James' hugely successful erotica novel 50 Shades of Grey to life. After such a long time waiting, you would assume that Universal would have gotten the casting right at the first attempt, but according to a number of disgruntled, internet-based fans, this is not the case.

Dakota Johnson
Dakota Johnson has been chosen to play Anastasia Steele in the movie

Hunnam could have found himself the role that turns him into a fully-fledged mega-star when he takes on Christian Grey, the young billionaire S&M enthusiast, but that is providing that the angry online fans don't scare him out of the job before he's even begun filming. Having been picked ahead of favourites Ian Somerhalder and Robert Pattinson, various commentators are complaining that Hunnam just doesn't fit the description of Grey in in James' books. He may posses the gym-sculpted body, the necessary age gap and the element of badass needed for the role, but without the right looks he apparently won't cut it in the movie.

Who Is Dakota Johnson & Why Has She Landed The '50 Shades' Role Of Ana Steele?

Dakota Johnson Charlie Hunnam E.L. James Sam Taylor-Wood

The swirling rumours have been confirmed: Dakota Johnson will take the lead female role in the movie adaptation of EL James' erotic trilogy, Fifty Shades of Grey. The 23-year old Social Network acress will join Pacific Rim actor Charlie Hunnam in bringing to life the bondage whips-and-chains-filled story.

Dakota Johnson
Dakota Johnson Has Been Picked For The 50 Shades Role.

Many actresses publically distanced themselves from the role, which will inevitably involve plenty of unhinged sex scenes, including Mila Kunis and Emma Watson, who probably weren't even offered the role, but wanted to make sure everyone knew it wasn't their kind of character. The books have been extremely successful, placing EL James at the top of Forbes richest author list of the last year. However, there has been plenty of criticism too, where James' writing, storyline, characters and just about everything else have come under fire as the book was branded "mommy porn."

Dakota Johnson Set For '50 Shades' Lead: Would She Make A Good Ana Steele?

Dakota Johnson E.L. James Sam Taylor-Wood Charlie Hunnam Ian Somerhalder Mila Kunis Shailene Woodley Emma Watson Garrett Hedlund

It's less than a year until the Fifty Shades of Grey movie is due in cinemas yet there doesn't seem to have been any firm casting decisions made. The movie, which will be an adaptation from EL James' best-selling erotic fiction of the same name, will have British director Sam Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy) at its helm but nothing more appears to have been set in concrete.

Dakota Johnson
Will Dakota Johnson Really Take The Lead 50 Shades Character?

The role of Christian Grey - the billionaire with a BDSM fetish - has been the most media-covered role so far, with Ian Somerhalder wanting the role, Garrett Hedlund rejecting the role and Taylor-Johnson's own husband, Aaron, rumored for the part. However, it has emerged that we may know who plays student-turned-sex-slave Anastasia Steele first, namely Dakota Johnson.

For Ellen Review

Good

One of those mopey independent dramas that drifts through a mere hint of a plot, this film is worth a look for its unusual setting and a superb central performance from Paul Dano (last seen in Looper). Filmmaker Kim focusses so closely on him that everything else on screen kind of fades into the background, turning the movie into a deeply personal odyssey. Although there isn't much more to it than that.

Dano plays an aimless rocker named Joby, who travels to a snowy town to settle his divorce from Claire (Levieva). She's so angry with him that she won't even see him for the sake of their young daughter Ellen (Mandigo), preferring to talk through lawyers. And since she knows Joby is deeply in debt, she makes a cruel offer: he can have half the value of their marital home if he signs over sole custody of Ellen, whom he barely knows anyway. But this isn't an easy decision, and Joby can only get so much help from his inexperienced lawyer (Heder). As part of the negotiations, Joby gets to spend two hours with his daughter. And then he has to make up his mind.

Dano is superb as the hapless Joby, who finds it so difficult to concentrate on his life that he's about to be thrown out of his own band. As a result, his life seems to be one mess after another, leading to this key moment when he needs to snap to attention. So it's especially intriguing that we can feel the internal pull toward his daughter: he wants to be a good dad, but is terrified of doing something wrong. And the film finds a lively counterpoint in Heder's comically clueless lawyer, another grown man who is painfully ill-equipped to face the real world.
