Leah Remini Joins 'Dancing With The Stars,' Scientology Lets Out Huge "Doh!"

Leah Remini Dancing With The Stars

Leah Remini, the American actress and star of The King of Queens, has joined the cast of ABC's Dancing With The Stars, according to sources close to the show who spoke with The Hollywood Reporter.

Now entering its 17th season, the dancing competition will shift to a single, two-hour airing per week, with Valerie Harper, Jersey Shore's Snooki and Showgirls star Elizabeth Berkley also tipped to appear.

Remini's inclusion is all the more notable given her parting of ways with the Church of Scientology for questioning its treatment of church members and allegedly the autocratic leadership of David Miscavige.

Can 'Dancing With The Stars' Survive Without Derek Hough?

Derek Hough Kellie Pickler Cheryl Cole Ryan Seacrest Julianne Hough Dancing With The Stars

Derek Hough, the main professional draw on 'Dancing With The Stars,' is likely to leave the show the good and pursue his other ambitions. After picking up the mirrorball trophy for the fourth time - this time with Kellie Pickler - Hough is believed to be considering his role on the show.

"Derek has always wanted to eventually get back to the stage or other kinds of TV projects and even films," a veteran "Dancing" insider told the Chicago Sun-Times, "I know he's had lots of offers. This seems like the right time for him to pursue all that." Though Hough found fame on Dancing With The Stars, he is known outside of the ABC hit show and was thought to be dating British pop-stat Cheryl Cole for a short time. He is the brother of Julianne Hough, the girlfriend of the hugely powerful TV mogul Ryan Seacrest.

Derek is also a big-name on the stage and has appeared in productions of 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' and 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and played Ren in a West End production of 'Footloose.' Did you know he also played a Hogwarts schoolboy in Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone back in 2001?

Dancing With The Stars Winners Get Emotional After Victory [Spoilers]

Dancing With The Stars Kellie Pickler

Last night on Dancing With The Stars, country singer Kelly Pickler and her professional partner Derek Hough were crowned as the winners of the show’s twelfth season. The finale was a tense one, after the show’s previous episode left Pickler and fellow contestant Zendaya Coleman as the last two standing. Clearly, the audience fell in love with Kelly and Derek’s last dance, performed, in a sentimental twist, to a song written by Pickler’s husband especially for the occasion. In the end, the duo took home the coveted, if a bit tacky, mirror ball trophy.

"It's not about me winning. It's about Kellie," Hough told E!News after the finale. "It's about our celebrities because this is their first and their only time on the show. I am overjoyed and so happy that Kellie got to experience this. It's amazing. And it was such a hard season and everyone was so fantastic.”

Kelly was also overjoyed after the victory, when she realised they had won that is, because initially she couldn’t hear the winners’ names being called out; so Derek had to tell her. “Derek has taught me so much and he's just such an amazing person and I'm so glad that I got to meet him," Pickler says. "I have a big brother in him. We've had so much fun. Win or lose, it's been amazing."

Dancing With The Stars Finale Recap: Who Won? [Spoilers]

Kellie Pickler Dancing With The Stars

In a grand finale that kept everyone on the edge of their seats until the very end, American Idol finalist and country star Kelly Pickler and her partner Derek Hough became this season’s champions. It was definitely a tight race though, stretching between the two final episodes. On Monday night, Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas became the first of the four final couples to be eliminated, in a surprise turn which many didn’t see coming. In typical style, however, Aly took the loss gracefully, congratulating the remaining contestants. Afterwards, all remaining contestants performed their “instant dances” in a segment, where they new the dance, but not the music that they would be performing to, beforehand. All three dances -- the salsa for Jacoby and Karina, and the jive for both Zendaya and Val Chmerkovskiy, and Kellie and Derek -- were given perfect scores by the judges and received ample praise. Afterwards, however, pro football player Jacoby Jones and his partner Karina were voted off, shaping up the finale between Kelly and Zendaya.

"Out of all my trainers, I never had a woman push me like she has. When I go back (to football), I'll have gracefulness, footwork and catch balls like this,” said Jacoby.

The finale became a reunion of sorts, as performances from and Victor Ortiz part of his backup dancers, and Jessica Sanchez interspersed dances by all the eliminated contestants this season. It was a tense battle as both Kelly and Zendaya danced near-perfect renditions. However, in the end, the Mirrorball Trophy went to Pickler, in what was certainly a deserved victory. It was definitely a good ending to an interesting season. Hopefully, DWTS can keep up the good work, when the show returns with just one episode per week next season.

DWTS Idol Contestant Revealed: American Idol Loser Kellie Pickler Takes On Dance Challenge

Kellie Pickler Dancing With The Stars American Idol Aly Raisman Wynonna Judd Sean Lowe

The news has broken that we have a DWTS Idol Contestant in the making. TMZ have discovered the identity of four of this year’s Dancing With The Stars contestants and one of them is a former American Idol hopeful. 26 year-old Pickler was a contestant on the fifth season of American Idol and has subsequently gone on to sell over 800,000 copies of her debut album Small Town Girl.

Clearly, Pickler’s career needs a little pick-me up, or maybe she just misses the pressure of a TV reality show contest, because she’s now signed up for the dancing program, according to sources close to the show, in a bid to win the nation’s hearts once more. The information that was leaked to TMZ, ahead of Tuesday’s official announcement (February 26, 2013), also reveals that another country music star, Wynonna Judd, will be taking to the boards, as well. The 2012 Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Aly Raisman is also rumoured to be amongst the cast members due to be announced tomorrow. And Sean Lowe, former star of The Bachelor will be there to ruffle a few feathers, too.

Raisman’s odds are looking good, to be honest, given that three Olympic champions have won the show in the past; we reckon they’ve got a little bit of an unfair advantage in terms of the training required to take part in the shows, but there you have it. A spokesperson for the show refused to confirm whether or not those four rumours are definitely true, telling TMZ “We do not comment on casting rumors, but tune in to 'GMA' on Tuesday when we reveal the cast live!”

Dancing With The Stars: Sneak Peak At Week 6

Dancing With The Stars Bristol Palin Drew Lachey Joey Fatone Sabrina Bryan Melissa Rycroft Pamela Anderson

For Halloween week Dancing With The Stars has the chance to go full on OTT and get away with it, however the actual result isn't as scary as you may have imagined, with the remaining contestants participating in a Country Week (still quite a scary thought though).

So the remaining stars - remember Pamela Anderson, Bristol Palin, Helio Castroneves and former boy-band-boys Drew Lachey and Joey Fatone have all been given the boot already - this week will be going head to head to see who has the best yee-haw and who can dance in a line with the best of them as the first round of dances will see the stars dance to a country hit, with backing provided by Little Big Town. LBT's appearance also marks the first musical guest of the season.

So what can we expect from the dancers? With the competition hotting up there's only so much the remaining pairs can give to mark themselves from the pack, now is the time to separate the men from the boys. Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan is atop the leaderboard going in to this week, and given her shock 2007 exit we might see her go all the way to the final this time round, but we can't rule out the rest of them just yet. Meanwhile fan favourites Emmitt Smith, Kristie Alley and the remaining Olympiads competing might have what it takes to go all the way, with Alley perhaps the most likely to fail should her batteries die out for good.

'White Powder' Sent To DWTS For Bristol Palin

Bristol Palin Dancing With The Stars

After her elimination on last weeks episode, Bristol Palin is still at the centre of the attention for the show after it was revealed that a mysterious packed, described only as a kind of 'white powder' was delivered to the TV personality on the show.

A FBI sources confirmed with The Hollywood Reporter that it's agents have responded to the report of a suspicious package that has been sent to the CBS Studios set where 'Dancing With The Stars' is filmed. According to the federal report, a number have tests have been performed on the substance and indicated that the substance in question was innocuous, with further tests still underway to determine who sent the mystery package.<./p>

According to TMZ, the substance was not all that was delivered to the set, as an anonymous letter was also sent along with the package that demanded that Bristol be removed from the show. Whilst it is hardly likely this was the reason for her dismissal from the show, with her less than remarkable last performance being the more likely reason for her being booted from the show.

DWTS Bust-Up: Are Mark Ballas And Bristol Palin REALLY Friends Again?

Bristol Palin Mark Ballas Dancing With The Stars Sabrina Bryan Shawn Johnson

Have Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas really put their bust-up behind them? Or are the smiles all for show? Mark Ballas has been pretty chivalrous, as he spoke to the press about falling out with Bristol, behind the scenes at Dancing With The Stars. Palin has hardly been doing well on the show – she’s not exactly a popular character and she’s scored pretty low each week that the show has been on. “We love each other," Ballas explained to People Magazine. "Sometimes people piss each other off. We've swept it under the rug and carried on. We had a rough day out of many, many, many days that we've spent together." Pretty generous behavior, given that she accused him of being mentally and physically absent from some of their rehearsals together.

Palin also accused Mark Ballas of wishing that he had been dancing with his former partners, such as Sabrina Bryan or Shawn Johnson, though he insists that isn’t the case, stressing that whilst he will “continue to support them… Bristol is my number one and I'll always be here 100 percent.” The media, of course, will be looking for the smallest sign of ongoing drama, though Mark insists that the row is behind them. “We're fine," Ballas said backstage after the show. "We've danced together before. This isn't our first season together. The last season we did together, we didn't argue once – nothing, we were just chill. So the fact that we've made it through a season and a quarter and this is now our first fight is amazing.”

Is this just a front from Ballas and Palin though? Bristol herself hasn’t been quite as vocal on the matter – though she’s hardly renowned for being tactful when she’s faced with pressure, so maybe the show’s producers are trying to make sure that Mark does all the talking. It will be interesting to see how the pair get on for the remainder of the series… for however long they remain.

Dancing With The Stars Update: Joey Fatone Out!

Joey Fatone N Sync Bristol Palin Dancing With The Stars

Joey Fatone is the latest of the Dancing With The Stars contestants to bite the dust, as the ex-N Sync boy-bander was voted off the show, reports The Washington Post.

He didn’t seem too perturbed, though: “I’ll miss everybody out here,” Fatone said as the show ended. “I’m actually going to a wedding tomorrow, so I don’t give a damn! I’m going to have a good time...as long as I had fun, I don’t care what your votes say.” As the pair headed to the centre of the ballroom for a final dance, partner Kym put her arms around him and sobbed on his shoulder as he patted her back. The pair had managed a judges' score of 22.5 out of a possible 30 for their Chaplin-esque quickstep Monday night, and come results night, they were out of luck and off the show.

Going into Tuesday's results show, Bristol Palin was way at the bottom of the pack with a low score of 18, but somehow she managed to survive to dance another week, and she’ll have to up her game, as a daunting double elimination looms over the celebs and their partners. “It is what it is, I’m going to get 6’s no matter what,” she moaned backstage to Mark, clearly upset with her low scoring.
