The model and musician, 20, hit headlines in the past year with his hip-hop sound, but his new single True suggests Gabriel-Kane has a soul side.

"True is about self discovery and learning," he told Billboard. "(The song is) about how I've learned to let go of my hardships and some of the resentments I used to have. Writing it was extremely therapeutic and it allowed me to move forward in my life."

He tells Billboard, "I'm very proud of who my parents are, but they really set a high bar and cast an immense shadow. It's made it hard for me to find myself."
