Jonah Hill Turns Danny Brown's 'Ain't It Funny' Into A Sinister Sitcom

Danny Brown Jonah Hill

Detroit Rapper Danny Brown has just unveiled a disturbing yet strangely hilarious new music video for his latest single 'Ain't It Funny', directed by none other than Jonah Hill. The song is from his critically acclaimed fourth album 'Atrocity Exhibition' which was released last year.

The video for 'Ain't It Funny' is set like a traditional 80s sitcom on a fictional channel called The Religious Values Network. It features a family of five; the mother, the father, the little brat brother, the older daughter and the uncle. Danny Brown plays the crack-smoking Uncle whose problem no-one takes any notice of.

Max Cussons’ Top Ten Albums Of 2016

David Bowie Every Time I Die Danny Brown Dillinger Escape Plan

A number of historic moments happened with Brexit, the US election and the absurd amount of tragic deaths of some of the most significant figures in the arts. However, what 2016 will also one day be looked back on is an incredible year for music.

This list wasn't easy to compile, and is just a glance at the amount of excellent music 2016 has had to offer. There's been fascinating hip-hop, highly oddball experimental music, refreshing pop music, plenty of punishing hardcore/metal/noise and inspiring passion from DIY scenes. There's also been a great number of emerging artists, displaying much potential with singles, EP's and captivating performances, where hopefully we'll see them put out records soon which will make 2017 a rich year for music. Shout outs in particular to Iglooghost, Yonaka, Mssingno, Miles Mosley and Kai Whiston, be sure to keep an eye on them.

Here we are though, 2016's 10 finest records in my opinion, that display endless possibilities in this thing we call music.

Eminem Rocks London In Very First Wembley Gig

Eminem Dr Dre Danny Brown Odd Future

So Eminem is still a thing. Despite the rapper’s career deflating slightly after the 00s, he is still big. Big enough to fill Wembley Arena with screaming fans. In fact, Slim set sort of a record Friday, being the first rapper to ever perform at the massive London venue. Technically, he shared the honour with Dr. Dre, since the rapper/producer joined his former protégé for a couple of songs. Dre treated fans to a couple of vintage track, including Still Dre, Nuthin’ But A ‘G’ Thang and Forgot About Dre.

Eminem
At 41, Eminem is still going strong and powering through shows.

And he wasn’t the only one helping out Eminem at Wembley. The rapper also brought out Danny Brown and Odd Future to open for him. So overall, it sounds like fans got more than they bargained for with the gig. There was a clear theme to the show, the same one Slim’s been playing on for a couple of albums now: do not mess with Marshall Mathers. He opened with a triple hit of Bad Guy, Square Dance and 3AM.

Danny Brown Gives A$AP Mob A Piece Of His Mind Following Dropped Verse In "Hella Hoes"

Danny Brown

Danny Brown took to twitter to air his grievances surrounding “Hella Hoes”, the A$AP Mob track which, apparently, should have featured a verse recorded by the 33-year-old rapper.

We’re guessing what really stings is that Brown took time out of his increasingly busy schedule and actually shelled out for studio time to record the verse for A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, A$AP Nast, and A$AP Twelvyy, the members of the Mob behind the track.

FBI Sued By Insane Clown Posse And Juggalos Over Gang Labelling

Insane Clown Posse Danny Brown

F***in' Lawsuits, how do they work again? Insane Clown Posse and four of their most devoted Juggalos (fans) have sued the FBI and the Department of Justice after the rap unit's fan group was designated as a gang. ICP rappers Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J have sued on the basis that the alleged mis-classification of their Juggalo fans infringes on the devotees' constitutional rights.

Parklife Festival 2013 Preview

This year's Parklife has quite possibly one of the most appealing line-ups for a UK festival - especially such a small one - that has been seen for some time. Never mind the main stages - you can pretty much ignore the main headliners (Example and Plan B) altogether - just look at that DJ line-up; it's like a house fan's wet dream. But there's so much more than pop stars and house and dance acts lighting up the line-up as rock, hip hop and more are on offer at the Manchester festival.

Parklife Festival 2013 Preview

High up on the list (and deservedly so) we have the Queen of alternative electro Jessie Ware, proving just how much can change in a year in the music business. The London-based singer/songwriter was practically unknown when she released her seminal debut Devotion last year and now she's rubbing shoulders with the likes of Rita Ora and Johnny Marr. Also towards the top of the list are The Horrors who may even have some new offerings for the crowd when they play the Now Wave stage on Sunday night. The Maccabees, King Krule and Liars should appease those looking for some more forward-thinking indie too. It's a shame to see Toro Y Moi so far down the list, but what better way to get you into the mood for the rest of Sunday than the disco-infused indie pop of Chaz Bundick? If Sunday is going to be a party, Chaz is the man to get everyone in that all-day party mood.

The festival organisers have especially outdone themselves with the selection of hip-hop on offer too, with the newly reformed Jurassic 5 standing out as one of the potential highlights of the weekend. There's a quality selection of new school heroes as well, with New Yorkers Action Bronson and wunderkind Joey Bada$$ looking like tantalising prospects, and don't be surprised if Joey brings some of his Pro Era cohorts with him. Also, one of rap's most electrifying and entertaining stars Danny Brown will have hip-hop heads writhing in anticipation when he brings his brand of alternative hip-hop to the Hudson Mohawke curated stage on Sunday. His first proper album Old comes out soon, and what a better place to show it off than here?

We Need To Talk About Danny Brown - The Aftermath Of His On Stage 'Sexual Assault'

Danny Brown

An incredibly interesting, important and above all sad debate has arisen following Danny Brown's concert in Minneapolis's West Bank. The rapper was, as he so often does, delighting the crowd when a girl from the audience decided to force herself upon him, performing oral sex for all of 2 seconds.

Of course, Danny pulled away, but now the drama is over, the talk has begun. A women forces herself upon a man, who, given his stature in the rap game, would hate to be seen as being 'sexually assaulted' by a woman, as his support act the rising star Kitty Pryde notes in her article for Vice. "Brown was put in a situation where calling what happened sexual assault meant being shamed by people who think that straight men should want sex all the time from any random woman who offers it." This was sexual assault, there's little doubt about it; take, for instance, the same situation but with a reversal of gender, and the male actor gets arrested - lambasted by the press and labelled disgusting.

This little article doesn't take sides; it doesn't suggest men are hard done by because this hasn't been labelled sexual assault. It merely highlights the sorry state of affairs where a) anyone feels it's okay to put a penis in their mouth without permission, and b) people don't know what to call it because the person involved is a man and a rapper.
