The official premiere date of David Lynch's 'Twin Peaks' revival has finally been announced for the Spring, with a two-hour long first episode. Plus, in case you can't wait a week after seeing episode one, the following two episodes will then be availabe to watch online afterwards.

TV producer and President of Showtime David Nevins unveiled the latest piece of news at a TCA session yesterday (January 9th 2017). 'It's really happening', he said, adding that the series will consist of '18 unforgettable hours'. Lynch shot the whole series as if it were a movie, so the resulting episodes are a result of being cleverly broken down.

After an unpredictable few months, fans of ‘Twin Peaks’ have received two more pieces of big-name casting for the revival of the cult ‘90s show over on Showtime next year, with Naomi Watts and Tom Sizemore added to the already impressive cast list.

On Tuesday (February 1st), Deadline reported that the revival has added the 47 year old English actress Watts to the burgeoning cast at the behest of director David Lynch. She has worked with the idiosyncratic director before, playing the dual identities of Bettie Elms and Diane Selwyn in his 2001 movie Mulholland Drive.

Fans have been waiting 25 years to return to ‘Twin Peaks’ and on Friday they were given their first taste of the show’s upcoming third series. While production has only just got under way, the minute-long trailer was enough to wet the appetite of fans who have been longing to revisit the small Washington town.

Kyle MacLachlan will return as Special Agent Dale Cooper in the new ‘Twin Peaks’ series.

The clip began showing the areas famous scenery as the town’s familiar road sign: "Welcome to Twin Peaks. Population 51,201,” is being rehung. A member of the crew then says: "There's a lot of holy places up here.”

Mean Girls and Les Miserables actress Amanda Seyfried has reportedly joined the cast of Showtime’s upcoming 'Twin Peaks'' revival. The new series of the 90s cult classic will also see the return of Kyle MacLachlan as Special Agent Dale Cooper and will be written by Mark Frost and David Lynch.

Amanda Seyfried will reportedly be starring in the new 'Twin Peaks' series.

According to TVLine.com, Seyfried’s role in the series is being kept a mystery, but her character is said to be 'pivotal' and she is expected to appear in ‘multiple episodes’. The role will be her biggest small screen outing since 2011’s 'Big Love'.

Great news everyone: David Lynch is back at the helm of Showtime's Twin Peaks revival after a dispute over the show's budget was seemingly resolved. The acclaimed filmmaker will direct all 18 episodes of the show after the network increased its order. Lynch tweeted the news to his devoted Twitter followers on Friday, saying, "Dear Twitter Friends, the rumors are not what they seem ..... It is !!! Happening again. #TwinPeaks returns on @SHO_Network."

It was announced last October that Showtime had green-lit a 9-episode miniseries of Twin Peaks, with Lynch and Mark Frost penning all the scripts and directing every episode. Set in the present day, the show was set to premiere in early 2016 to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the classic mystery drama.

David Lynch has pulled out of the planned Twin Peaks sequel claiming that network Showtime were not putting enough money into the project. Lynch, who created the original series with Mark Frost, had been on board to direct the series.

Twin Peaks might be getting a revival, but it'll be missing one crucial piece - David Lynch. The iconic director has just announced that he won't be helming the project, citing financial disagreements. Not over his own compensation - Lynch apparently disapproves of the budget.

Writing on Twitter, Lynch said he had not been given enough money "to do the script in the way I felt it needed to be done".

Time to stop jumping around like idiots, Twin Peaks fans. After the remarkable announcement that a third season of the show could premiere on Showtime in 2016 after 25 years off the air. Though there was no official statement, fans had assumed original creator David Lynch would return to direct, though the man himself doubted that at an exhibition in Australia this week.

Kyle MacLachlan has been confirmed to return as Special Agent Dale Cooper in the Twin Peaks reboot. The actor appeared at Monday's Showtime panel at the Television Critics Association press tour - "You look like you need a damn fine cup of coffee", he said, sauntering on-stage in character.

Industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails have teamed up with prolific filmmaker David Lynch for their new music video for 'Came Back Haunted.' After going on hiatus in 2009, the band's return was announced by lead singer Trent Reznor in February 2013, along with a worldwide festival and arena tour.

In typical NIN fashion, the video is about as disturbing as it can be (see also: the universally banned Broken EP videos), showing shaky images of singer/guitarist/wizard of weird Trent Reznor spliced over an image of what looks like a flobberworm. Add in a red/white flashing screen, a particularly evil eye and strange gas mask-wearing spidergirl images, and you have a pretty good accompaniment for the dark subject matter of NIN's songs. "They put something inside of me/The smile is red and its eyes are black/I don't think I'll be coming back," sings Reznor atop trademark fuzzy guitars and synthesised 'oohs.' The song is catchy and the video is strangely hypnotising - a simple idea that gets under your skin, making you look around to see if anyone's lurking behind you.
