Harry Potter director David Yates is swapping the wizard world for post-apocalyptic Earth - he's set to adapt Stephen King's acclaimed book The Stand for the big screen.
Yates is now in advanced talks with Warner Bros. bosses to direct a movie version of the classic 1978 novel, according to HitFix.com
The lengthy tome, which is nearly 1,500 pages long, tells the story of survivors after the planet is decimated by a flu-like virus.
Screenwriter Steve Kloves, who worked on the Potter franchise with Yates, will team up with the filmmaker again for the horror project.
Rob Lowe starred in a TV miniseries based on The Stand in 1994.
