Lady GaGa is to portray the late Cilla Black in a new biopic movie about the life of R&B singer Dionne Warwick, it was announced at a press conference this morning at the Cannes Film Festival.

The movie, titled simply Dionne and based on Warwick’s 2010 autobiography ‘My Life, As I See It’, was unveiled on Friday morning (May 13th) at the French festival by the star herself. Former Destiny’s Child member LeToya Luckett will play the lead role, with Gaga portraying the English singer, whom Warwick described as her “nemesis” in the press conference.

Celebrities have taken to social media to express their condolences over the tragic death of Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of Bobby Brown and the late singer Whitney Houston. The 22 year old died on Sunday (July 26th), six months after she was found unconscious in a bathtub at her Atlanta home.

Stars have been paying their respects to Bobbi Kristina Brown who has died aged 22.

On twitter talk show host Oprah Winfrey expressed her sadness writing, ‘Peace at last #BobbiKristina’, while ‘Empire’ actress Taraji P. Henderson added ‘Rest in heaven’.

Dionne Warwick has recently been released from hospital after falling in a shower at her New Jersey home. 74-year-old Warwick was hospitalised on 24th January after an ambulance was called to her South Orange, NJ home at 10:19AM, according to reports in TMZ. Warwick underwent ankle surgery during her stay at hospital and was released, after almost two weeks, on Thursday (5th February).

Dionne Warwick, one of the biggest names in soul music history, has filed for bankruptcy in the US after racking up worrying debts of $10 million in taxes, since 1991. It's becoming an all too familiar scenario in the celebrity world, with numerous high-profile stars now getting chased up for their owed taxes. The 'Walk On By' singer owes $7 million to the IRS and more than $3 million in business taxes to the state of California, reports BBC News.

Warwick, 72, has sold over 100 million records worldwide since the 1960s, though has fallen victim to poor financial management, according to her publicist. He added that Warwick had paid back the actual amount of taxes but not the penalties and interest accumulated over the years. 

In documents filed in New Jersey, the singer listed around $21,000 in month income and a similar amount in monthly expenses. Her publicist said she had "repeatedly attempted to offer re-payment plans and proposals to the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board for taxes owed."

Dionne Warwick is one of the golden voices of American musical history, but troubling news has emerged of her financial situation, with the one-time Motown filing for bankruptcy amidst claims that she’s some $10 million in debt. A real shame.

The 72 year-old reportedly filed the petition on March 21 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey. According to Today Entertainment, she listed total assets of $25,500 and total liabilities of more than $10.7 million, nearly all of which were tax claims by the Internal Revenue Service California state. The bankruptcy has been blamed on “negligent and gross financial mismanagement” in the 1980’s and into the 1990’s (well who wasn’t splashing the cash in the 90’s ey?) However, from the IRS and California’s figures, it appears that the one-time R’n’B legend wasn’t earning as much as you’d think, with figures for her average monthly income in the 90’s said to be $20,950 with expenses at $20,940.

According to Warwick’s publicist Kevin Sasaki, the actual back taxes owed had already been paid, but the penalties and interest has continued to accrue. "In light of the magnitude of her tax liabilities, Warwick has repeatedly attempted to offer re-payment plans and proposals to the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board for taxes owed," Sasaki said. "These plans were not accepted, resulting in escalating interest and penalties."
