Philip Seymour Hoffman

RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman: The world lost a true talent when actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his apartment last Sunday after a suspected heroin overdose, aged 46. Thougha autopsy results were ruled inconclusive, drugs paraphernalia was found littered all over his house after the Oscar-winning actor suffered a relapse to substance abuse despite having been clean for more than 20 years.

The father-of-three's break-up with his partner Mimi O'Donnell is said to have caused the Capote star to turn to drugs and not the confusion over his sexuality, as was falsely alleged by the National Enquirer. Since the death, four suspected drug dealers have been arrested and are being questioned with regards to selling Hoffman, who was found with a syringe in his arm, a bad batch. Sadly, we have lost one of the only actors working today whose acting prowess meant we'd instinctively trust any film with his name. Philip Seymour Hoffman (1967-2014).

DMX In Trouble Again After Vehicle Arrest, Marijuana Found

DMX

Troubled rapper DMX has been arrested in South Carolina after the truck he was a passenger in got pulled by cops for performing an illegal U-turn. The AP reports that the 42 year-old was in the vehicle that got pulled over and was arrested when police realised he had an outstanding warrant for driving under suspension. According to Lt. Jim Holcombe, marijuana was also found in the truck leading to both DMX, AKA Earl Simmons, and the driver being charged with simple possession.

This isn't the first drugs or driving offence that Simmons has committed, it's just one incident in many since the 90s that has seen 'Dark Man X' come under the scrutiny of the law for his questionable actions. In 1999, he and his wife, Tashera Simmons were arrested and charged with animal cruelty and both weapon and crack cocaine possession.

DMX Gets To Work On Chris Rock Comedy After DUI Arrest

DMX

Great news, DMX is returning to big screen and what's more, it's alongside funny man Chris Rock! The rapper will be playing himself in a cameo for Rock's currently untitled new project.

A photograph up on MTV.com shows Rock and DMX shooting what appears to be a jailhouse scene.

X's publicity rep said: "The scene is comedic, which allowed X to show off his versatility as an actor. X and Rock played well off each other and Rock's character even gets DMX to lead the inmates in a song."  The spokesperson added that the rapper is considering more acting roles and will be attending the Sundance Film Festival next year. He's currently working on a crime movie called 'Blame It on the Hustle,' though details remain scarce.

DMX Falls Asleep In Cop Car During DUI Arrest

DMX

Rapper DMX caught some much-needed sleep in the back of a cop car on Friday (July 26) morning following his arrest for an alleged DUI offence. TMZ - who have footage of the whole incident on their site - reported that the rapper was cited by police and placed into the back of the cop car after a short interrogation with the on-duty officers, falling asleep soon after he was put into the back of the patrol car.

The rapper has denied any wrong-doing

The site goes on to mention that X was arrested at around 3 a.m. in suburban South Carolina after being pulled over for erratic driving. According to the dashboard-cam footage obtained by TMZ, X insists that he was sober enough to drive, although the cop had a different opinion. Although it wasn't immediately clear exactly what substance X had been taking that made him so sleepy, the rapper was later booked for a DUI and makes a reference to having "4 or 5" drinks in the camera footage.

DMX On Driving Arrest: That's Five Hours Wasted For Nothing!

DMX

Rapper DMX was behind bars on Wednesday (February 13, 2013) following an arrest for driving without license. The 'And Then There Was X' star was booked into the Spartanburg County jail around 2am after an officer had spotted him at a local gas station before following him a short distance and making the arrest.

DMZ, real name Earl Simmons, spoke with FOX Carolina on his release from jail. "When I could have just paid the money right there on the spot," he fumed, "Basically it was just five hours wasted for nothing. I don't have a court date or a court appearance." The rapper said he had his five-month old daughter in the car when he was arrested. According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office report, a deputy issued tickets for driving without a license and said the rapper only had a state identification card on him. The car was turned over to a licensed passenger riding in the car - we really hope it wasn't his five-month old daughter.

DMX has sold over 30 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling hip-hop artists of all time. He released his seventh studio album, Undisputed, in September 2012.

Ho Ho 'WHAT!' Ho: DMX Gets Into The Christmas Spirit With Rudolph Rendition (Video)

DMX

That DMX, he’s a good lad really? I mean sure he’s spent more time in jail than we have outdoors - there’s so many they have to divide them by year on Wikipedia – and he’s also been up before the beak for unfounded charges of things like rape and sodomy, but when it comes to Christmas time all evidently must be forgiven, and so we must chuckle at this family friendly version of Rudolph The Red Nose reindeer that the rapper – real name Earl Simmons – gave to US rap radio station Power 105.

Indeed, for a man who has written lyrics about promising to kill Drake should he ever see him again, and who has had a past vicious feud with fellow MC Ja Rule, this performance seems quite out of character for the hardcore rapper. No cussin’, even a bit of singing, although he doesn’t lose that gravelly tone of voice for one bit, giving the whole thing a bit of an air of menace. What adds to the piece though is the fact that his many necklaces jangle freely around his neck, giving the impression of sleigh bells. Aww.

He also shouts “What!” a lot. But we’ve come to expect that. Watch below!

Exit Wounds Review

Bad
To watch a Steven Seagal film, one must fully suspend all disbelief. And to fully enjoy the audacity of Seagal, one must ignore all of the consequences associated with the following: Starting fistfights with large men in flashy nightclubs, destroying everything in sight along the way. Surviving every semi-automatic gun battle and car crash without a scratch. Purchasing Italian racing cars with bundles of $100 bills stuffed in a gym bag. Actually being able to cash out stock options from a dot-com and then creating a private surveillance unit devoted to uncovering a ring of corrupt Detroit cops involved in smuggling heroin inside of sweatshop-produced t-shirts. OK... maybe that corrupt cops thing is a bit hard to swallow.

I remember a time when I used to enjoy Seagal. Such films as Above the Law, Hard to Kill, Marked for Death, Under Siege, and Out for Justice are all solid action films from the '90s. Under Siege is even kind of good. But lately, films like Under Siege 2, Fire Down Below, and The Patriot have shown the age of the Italian stallion of Aikido.

Romeo Must Die Review

OK

Most freely adapted from Shakespeare, "Romeo Must Die" is a pounding-adrenaline martial arts action flick with a rival gang romance subplot that seems to have lifted more from "Macbeth" than "Romeo and Juliet" -- mainly that it's full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

The marquee-topping American debut of Jet Li -- the high-kicking crown prince of Hong Kong kung fu movies and the bad guy from "Lethal Weapon 4" -- this MTV-minded festival of bullets and flying fists is a very slick affair. Taking a cue from "The Matrix," cinematographer Andrzej Bartkowiak (who shot "LW4") makes an action extravaganza of his first directing effort by employing suspension-wire acrobatics and a souped-up version of the now-famous rotating freeze-frame technique to enhance Li's 200-octane fight sequences.

Right out of the gate, Li kicks the asses of half a dozen Hong Kong prison guards, while hanging upside-down, one-legged, from a chain in a torture chamber. The raucous scene turns into a spectacular jailbreak, inspired by Li's desire to get to America and avenge the murder of his gangster brother.
