DMX may not be fighting George Zimmerman in the upcoming celebrity boxing match. The rapper, in response to Zimmerman's plans to be the 'star' attraction in a celebrity boxing match, offered to be his opponent.

The man who Zimmerman was acquitted of murdering, Trayvon Martin, would have celebrated his 19th birthday on Wednesday (5th February). Zimmerman claims to be a 'celebrity' owing the high profile court case last summer in which he was accused of killing teenage Martin during a skirmish in Florida. It was believed he was racially motivated and, in his role as a security guard, shot Martin.

The fight is scheduled for March 1st 2014 and, when Zimmerman announced his intentions last week, stated he would be happy to fight anyone. Zimmerman and his fight promoter said he would fight anyone and that they were not concerned with race.

DMX, also known as Earl Simmons, did express an interest in fighting Zimmerman. He expressed his evident hatred of Zimmerman when offering to be the former security guard's opponent. He said "I am going to beat the living f**k out him. I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I f**k him right up." He further stated he would be involved in the fight in order to represent "every black person who has been done wrong in the system."

Zimmerman's promoter yesterday (5th February) confirmed his client had accepted DMX as his opponent. However, FoxCarolina asked DMX for a comment on the bizarre arrangement. DMX told the news crew: "Well, I was challenged, I was challenged. You know, I still haven't really decided if I would do it. But if I did do it, the money going to him would have to go to charity."

The match is scheduled to take place on March 1st so there is still plenty of time for agreements to be officially drawn up by Zimmerman and DMX's various representatives.
