The 68 year-old singer is rushing to her goddaughter's defence after critics constantly slam her for performing in a provocative manner, while wearing raunchy outfits.
Dolly Parton has decided to take aim on critics who so often slam Miley Cyrus for her wild child behaviour.
The country singer, who is the godmother of the 21 year-old, believes Cyrus is receiving an unfair amount of abuse for performing in racy outfits, and behaving crudely.
Parton can also relate to the former Disney Star, as she was also victimized for similar things in her younger days.
The 68 year-old star recently spoke with The Sunday Times, explaining how she was branded “trashy,” which is similar to how Cyrus is perceived to many.
“Back in the day, doing my own things my own way, and dressing sexy and showing my cleavage and all that, I got a lot of criticism,” she explained. “Lots of people thought I was making a mistake and that I was just trashy, which I was.”
Despite experiencing much of the same in her early career, Parton will not try and offer advice to the ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer, she thinks Cyrus needs to learn on her own.
“So I did go through that, but I don't give her advice,” she adds. “Everyone has to walk this journey according to their own rules. That's what she's doing. And I lurve her.”

Since Parton is a close pal to Bill Ray Cyrus, she has closely witnessed Miley grow up, transitioning from a squeaky-clean teen star into a young adult.
“I've known her daddy (Billy Ray) the many years he's been in the business,” she explained. “I've watched her grow up. She's a smart girl. She had to go to extremes to get her point across. I think she got the point across.”
