The battle of the celebrity politicians raged on this week, with Arnold Schwarzenegger taking to social media to taunt the new president Donald Trump over his low approval ratings in a new video.

“The ratings are in, and you got swamped,” Schwarzenegger said in a clip he posted on Tuesday morning (March 21st). “Wow, now you’re in the 30s? But what do you expect when you take away after-school programs for children and Meals on Wheels for the poor people?”

The former California governor, known as the Gubernator during his two terms between 2003 and 2011, was referring to a recent Gallup poll that put the controversial Republican president Trump’s approval ratings at just 37% for those who believe he is doing a good job – and 58% expressing disapproval.

In doing so, Schwarzenegger reignited a social media feud that had been running for a number of months. Specifically, he called out Trump for his budget’s proposal to cut funding for after-school activities.

“That's not what you call Making America Great Again. Come on, who's advising you?” He suggested Trump head to Hart Middle School, just a few miles from the White House, in order to see for himself how the programs work and the impact the cuts will have. “I'll take you there,” he offers.

The public attacks between Schwarzenegger and Trump, both of whom utilised celeb star power in their races to office, started after Arnie replaced The Donald as the host of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ last year.

As president, Trump has publicly attacked Schwarzenegger on a number of occasions, including calling him a “total disaster” as a host. Before his inauguration on January 20th, Trump tweeted that Schwarzenegger had gotten “swamped” in the TV ratings.
