The 57 year old singer went public with his voice problems last month (Jul15), revealing he had been diagnosed with a hemorrhagic polyp on his right vocal cord, and he booked in for treatment with throat specialist Dr. Steven M. Zeitels.

He underwent surgery this week (beg10Aug15) and Osmond has now revealed he has been ordered not to speak.

In a series of posts on Twitter.com, he writes, "The vocal surgery is over. Now the waiting game. Thank you Dr. Steven Zeitels and Mass Gen Hospital (sic) staff in Boston... Because I must be silent for 3 wks (weeks) after vocal surgery, it's funny how many people are posting on my FB (Facebook), shhhh, be quiet and shut up Donny..."

Osmond also tweeted a picture of himself posing with his doctor and another to his Facebook.com page which showed him lying in a hospital bed. He added in the caption, "The recovery is going to be quite tough. Three weeks of absolutely no sound. Not even a whisper. I'm certainly going to have a lot of time on my hands..."

Zeitels has previously treated stars including Adele, Lionel Richie and Sam Smith.

Osmond is due to resume his Las Vegas residency with his sister Marie at the Flamingo Hotel on 29 September (15).
