The hip-hop stars launched What a Time to Be Alive with little fan fare, and it has captured the number one spot with an impressive 375,000 units, the third biggest first-week sales of the year (15).

Drake's other unexpected album, If You're Reading This It's Too Late, shifted 535,000 units to secure the number one spot in February (15) and holds the title for the largest sales week of 2015 to date.

The success of What a Time to Be Alive also makes Drake and Future the only two rappers since 2004 to score two chart-toppers in the same calendar year.

Meanwhile, Lana Del Rey debuts Honeymoon at two and last week's top pick, The Weeknd's Beauty Behind the Madness, slips to three.

MAC Miller is new at four with Go:od AM, and rocker David Gilmour slides in at five with his new release Rattle That Lock, the same disc which topped the U.K. chart on Friday (25Sep15).
