Duncan Jones has welcomed his first son, exactly six months after his father David Bowie’s death from cancer. Jones and his wife Rodene Ronquillo welcomed Stenton David Jones on July 10, saying that his grandfather had ‘made room for him’.

‘Stenton David Jones. Born July 10th, exactly six months after his grandad made room for him. Love you both so,’ Jones tweeted on Friday, July 29. Jones named his son in honour of Haywood Stenton Jones, his grandfather, and of course his own father David Bowie.

Jones' happy news was shared on twitter by his stepmother Iman who retweeted his announcement. The filmmaker also paid tribute to his wife Rodene tweeting: ‘All my love and awe to the incredible @rodeneronquillo who made a human being in her belly. Warrior woman & every day, my hero.’

One month after his father’s death, Jones shared that he was expecting his first child and the music legend’s first grandchild. ‘1 month since dad died today. Made this card for him at Christmas.,’ Jones tweeted. ‘Due in June. Circle of life. Love you, granddad.’

Speaking about his father’s death on the Nerdist podcast in May, Jones said: "I’m OK, I’m good. I was very fortunate, we got a chance to say our goodbyes. It’s a weird one for me, I don’t really know how to talk about it or what to say about it – other than the fact that we got a chance to say our goodbyes."

"Weird things make me miss him, but it’s still early days. I’m sure I always will, but it’s tricky. He was a big gravitational pull in my life as far as who I saw myself as. How I separated myself from the world and how I saw myself,” he added. “It’s bittersweet because right now my wife is very pregnant and she’s due in June."
