Dustin Diamond has been jailed for four months for his part in a bar brawl.

The 38-year-old actor - known for his role as Screech in 'Saved By The Bell' - was convicted earlier this year of carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct during the Christmas Day incident in Wisconsin.

Judge Paul Malloy told the court that the sentence ''has to send a message to the community that we're just not going to live like this''.

On hearing the sentence, Dustin told the court: ''I sincerely apologise to everyone involved. This was the single most terrifying experience of my life.

''This is all I've been able to think about for the last six months.''

Witnesses testified that the fight was started by Dustin's girlfriend Amanda Schutz, who shoved one woman at the bar and grabbed the hand of another. She was fined for disorderly conduct.

In today's (25.06.15) hearing, Dustin claimed he used the pocketknife to try stop the group from hurting his girlfriend but then accidentally stabbed the victim during the altercation.

He has also been sentenced to 15 months' probation and was ordered to pay the victim $1,105 in restitution.
