Dustin Hoffman has undergone successful cancer treatment, his representative announced on Tuesday 6th August.

His representative, Jodi Gottlieb, announced Hoffman's cancer "was detected early and he has been successfully cured." However, reports suggest the 75-year-old will continue with preventative treatments in the next few years, as recommended by his doctor. Further details on the procedure have, as yet, not been disclosed to the press.

Gottlieb, speaking to People, said her client was "feeling great and in good health" following the treatment. 

The Luck actor is married to attorney Lisa Gottsegen. He has six children and two grandchildren. Hoffman's family have made no comment on his condition. 

Hoffman is best known for his roles in Rain Man, Midnight Cowboy and The Graduate. More recently he has worked on such films as Meet the Fockers and its sequel; Last Chance Harvey and he made his directional debut in 2012 with Quartet

The award winning actor, despite being unwell, has not slowed down this year and has spent most of this year filming Chef, alongside Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson and Sofia Vergara. Chef, due to be released in the US next year, follows a cook as he starts up his own mobile kitchen and attempts to reunite his family, according to IMDb. Hoffman finished this project in mid-July, according to reports in People.

However Hoffman is not taking a breaking much of a break as his next project, Esio Trot, will begin filming later on this year. The adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic children's book will star Hoffman and Dame Judi Dench
