Oscar-winning actor Dustin Hoffman has been successfully treated for cancer.
Actor Dustin Hoffman can now breathe a sigh of relief after the surgery he underwent to treat his cancer was a success. With little confirmed information regarding the nature or type of cancer, Hoffman's fans should simply be relieved that the twice Oscar-winning actor is still alive and well.
Dustin's Wife Lisa Has Supported The Actor Through Cancer.
In a statement reported by People magazine, Hoffman's publicist Jodi Gottlieb confirmed that the 75 year-old is doing well: "It was detected early and he has been surgically cured," she said, "Dustin is feeling great and is in good health." Apparently the actor and director will undergo doctor-recommended preventative treatments to minimise any chance of a recurrence of what was allegedly throat cancer in the future.
Famed for his Academy Award prized performances in Rain Man and Kramer vs. Kramer, as well as more recent comedy performances in Meet The Parents and cartoon voiceovers for Kung Fu Panda and The Tale of Despereaux, Hoffman has enjoyed a long and illustrious career as an actor who audiences can warm to. He made his foray into work behind the camera in his directorial debut with 2012's sweet and funny Quartet.
Doesn't Look Like The Actor Will Be Taking His Foot Off The Pedal.
The LA-born star married his second and current wife, Lisa, in 1980 and the pair have four children together in addition to Hoffman's two children from his previous marriage. Born into a Jewish family, father Dustin says that he has certainly become more religious as he has aged and each of his four most recent children have had their bar or bat mitzvahs.

It was not publicised whether Hoffman had been recently ill with cancer but the acclaimed performer has kept himself busy, having been last seen on set of the food truck comedy, Chef, that is set for release in May next year. He'll star alongside Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr. and Sophía Vergara in Chef and is preparing to shoot Roald Dahl adaptation Esio Trot this Autumn with Dame Judi Dench.
Chef will be released on 9th May 2014.
