The first trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of 'Baywatch' is finally here and it's almost like it's a parody of the original series. One thing's for sure, Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron make for an excellent team - even if their characters are totally at odds with each other.

It looks like 'Baywatch' is going to be everything we wanted it to be if the trailer is anything to go by. Complete with slow-mo beach runs and death-defying rescues from burning boats, it's got all the colour of the 90s TV show but with a thick layer of humour and exaggeration.

It's not just beach-goers that need to be saved in this tale, however. Unfortunately, the Baywatch lifeguard team are in danger themselves as the council cuts important funding for them as a brand. When some new blood joins the team, the confident and super athletic Matt Brody (Zac Efron), Mitch (Dwayne Johnson) isn't too sure about his suitability when it comes to bringing some good press to the brand, given that all he seems to do is promote dangerous stunts. But could he be the voice of reason when a dead body shows up on their shores? Mitch is determined to investigate, though Matt loses his confidence a little and thinks it's a matter best left in more capable hands.

'Baywatch' reunites Dwayne Johnson and Alexandra Daddario in their second film together after 2015's 'San Andreas'. The latter plays lifeguard Summer Quinn, with Kelly Rohrbach as C.J. and Ilfenesh Hadera as Stephanie Holden. The film has been directed by Seth Gordon ('Horrible Bosses', 'Four Christmases') with a script from screenwriting duo Damian Shannon and Mark Swift ('Friday the 13th'). Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff are expected to make cameos in the movie, despite the fact that there are new actors in their roles of Mitch Buchanan and C.J. Parker.

'Baywatch' is set to be released in the US on May 19th 2017.
