Eagles of Death Metal have made an emotional return to Paris, appearing as surprise guests during U2’s gig at the AccorHotels Arena on Monday evening. Bringing the band to the stage U2 frontman Bono said: 'They were robbed of their stage three weeks ago and we would like to offer them ours tonight.


Bono then hugged the band’s frontman Jesse Hughes, who told the crowd, ‘'Paris, we love you and we will never give up rock and roll.” The two bands then joined for a cover of Patti Smith's ‘People Have the Power’, before U2 left the stage to Eagles of Death Metal for a performance of their song ‘I Love You All the Time’.

U2 had been due to play in Paris on November 14 and 15, but the gigs were rescheduled following November 13th’s terrorist attacks. At the beginning of the show Bono told fans: “We're in Paris - feels like the whole world is in Paris. We are all Parisiennes tonight. If you believe in liberte, Paris is your home town.”

“Thank you for welcoming us back and allowing us to come here and tell our story and allowing us to tell you a little something about our lives when your lives have been turned upside down.” The band also played new track, Streets of Surrender (SOS), dedicated to the Paris victims.

In a post on their instagram page Eagles of Death Metal wrote: ‘We want to offer our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for everything our brothers in @u2 did for us in the aftermath of the November 13 attacks.’

‘They reminded us that the bad guys never take a day off, and therefore we rock ’n rollers cannot either…and we never will.
