The album peaked at number one in the UK Album chart and in the Billboard Hot 100. 'Sing' was the album's lead single and gained Sheeran his first number one in the UK.

Ella Eyre won't be writing about her ex-boyfriend in her new music.
The 23-year-old singer insists she won't be heading in the studio to get over her split from Rixton's Lewi Morgan because it was the ''most uninteresting break-up ever''.
She said: ''I'm friends with all my exes and Lewi is one of them. I'm still in touch with his family and his band is coming back with new music, so I'm checking up on that to see how it's going. The way me and Lewi split up was so mutual, calm and respectful. I'd struggle to write an interesting song about it because it was the most uninteresting break-up ever!''

The Mercury Prize nominees always includes at least one major star and this year it's 'The Shape of You' hitmaker Ed Sheeran. Surprisingly, it's only his first time being shortlisted for this coveted British award but with his new album 'Divide' making waves, it's certainly well-deserved.

Sheeran's promoter, Stuart Galbraith, and two MPs went to Viagogo's London offices armed with a letter and questions over their practices, but were turned away.
The battle against ticket touting has escalated after Ed Sheeran’s promoter, along with two MPs, was turned away from the London offices of ticket re-sale site Viagogo when they confronted the company with a letter and questions regarding their practices.
They had travelled to the London HQ of Viagogo’s parent company VGL, accompanied by disappointed and irate customers who claimed the company had ripped them off by adding huge fees to the face value of a ticket, as well as VAT. However, Conservative MP Nigel Adams and Labour MP Sharon Hodgson were both told the police would be called if they didn’t leave the premises.
The company is accused of hiking the prices of tickets by up to 34% through hidden fees that only become apparent when a customer clicks through the site to payment details.
Director Jeremy Podeswa defended Sheeran's cameo appearance in the season 7 curtain-raiser in an interview with The Daily Beast.
After his cameo appearance in ‘Game Of Thrones’ this weekend that sharply divided viewers on social media, the show’s director has come to Ed Sheeran’s defence saying that the singer is a “lovely performer” who “deserved to be there”.
In fact, the reaction was such that 26 year old Sheeran quit Twitter altogether in the wake of the season premiere of the seventh series of ‘Game of Thrones’ on Sunday night (July 16th). However, the HBO fantasy show’s director, Jeremy Podeswa, has told The Daily Beast in a new interview that he felt Sheeran’s appearance was appropriate.
Podeswa admitted he was “a bit surprised that people have made that much fuss about it… he looks right in the show; he fits into the fabric of the show.”

The singer received nothing but criticism for his 'GoT' cameo.
He gave us fair warning, but Ed Sheeran has finally decided to scrap his Twitter account altogether now after a stream of hate messages following his 'Game Of Thrones' cameo. There was barely enough screen time for him to have had a poor performance, but that didn't stop his biggest critics.

We have a feeling that Ed's brief spell as a singing soldier in season 7 of 'Game of Thrones' was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek moment for the series, but there were a lot of people out there who felt angry about his involvement in the episode 'Dragonstone'. As a result, he's shut down his Twitter account in a bid to stem the flow of hate.

Ed Sheeran has penned two tracks for Jess Glynne's new album.
The 'Shape of You' hitmaker stormed the charts earlier this year with his comeback LP '÷' following 12 months away from the spotlight but, despite his busy schedule, the flame-haired hunk has still managed to find some time to pen two tracks titled 'Thursday' and 'Woman Like Me', for Jess' forthcoming record as she's hoping to emulate his success when she drops her new sound later this year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: ''After the success Jess enjoyed with her first album, she has been able to pick and choose who she works with but was delighted that Ed came on board. His offerings are set to be major components of Jess's album - his songwriting and her distinctive sound are a perfect fit.''

After her Monsters attacked him, she's urging everyone to be kind.
Following his abrupt departure from social media over a string of abusive comments, Lady GaGa has spoken out in defence of Ed Sheeran and urges people to be kinder to artists and make the internet a friendlier place. It's about time the trolling ended.
Lady Gaga live at Coachella
After a stellar Glastonbury set, all Ed Sheeran got was criticism on Twitter. Now he's decided he'd rather not deal with it at all, and has quit the platform and left all his social media responsibilities to someone else on his team. Someone who knows all too well the harshness of Twitter has sent him her full support.

The singer had been getting one too many trolls attacking him on social media.
Poor Ed Sheeran's been having a really tough time since his Glastonbury appearance. He has faced so much criticism online that he has made the momentous decision of leaving social media altogether - at least for now. His fans will surely be disappointed, but the trolling is getting out of hand.
Ed Sheeran at the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2017
The 'Castle on the Hill' singer played a sensational set as the Sunday headliner at Glastonbury last month, but despite his popularity he has still received an influx of hateful abuse on Twitter. It started out with accusations that he was using a backing track throughout his performance rather than playing live (when he was actually using a loop pedal) and culminated in many telling him that he wasn't worthy of the Glasto slot in the first place.
New chart rules coming into effect this week, affecting the counting of streams and imposing a limit on tracks per artist, will prevent the sight of one artist having huge numbers of songs in the Top 20.
Ed Sheeran shattered all sorts of chart records earlier this year when his latest album Divide was released, with all 16 of its tracks hitting the UK Top 20 singles chart at the same time.
However, it’s now unlikely that anybody else will emulate such a feat, or even come close, after the Official Charts Company announced changes to the rules surrounding the compilation of the charts, particularly regarding the weighting given to streaming.

Here's how Ed managed to get that 'band' sound during his closing set.
Despite the fact that he has just completed an excellent closing set at Glastonbury Festival, Ed Sheeran has still found himself the victim of a whole load of criticism for it. Whether he's been accused of using a backing track, or simply not being Glasto material.

Ed Sheeran certainly doesn't deserve the amount of hate he's getting for his headline performance at Glastonbury 2017, but thankfully he appears to be taking it all in his stride. And, let's face it, it's hardly going to have a negative effect on his career.
