Ed Sheeran's 'Perfect' Video Is So Cheesy, But We Love It

Ed Sheeran

Christmas is the 'Perfect' time of the year for cheesy videos; and, indeed, if Ed Sheeran had dropped the video for his new single any other time we'd be uber-cringing. Luckily for him, we're starting to feel rather festive, so romantic cliches are totally allowed.

The singer appeared alongside 'Before I Fall' star Zoey Deutch in the 'Perfect' visual, which dropped today (November 9th 2017). Why Ed Sheeran's Next Album Could Be A Folk Release

Ed Sheeran

It might not be a mainstream sound, but Ed Sheeran got some serious airplay for his folk-tinged third single this year 'Galway Girl'. There is something of a traditional edge to the chart hero's music, which has got us wondering if he's preparing us for a stripped back full-folk release next.

Ed Sheeran at the Q AwardsEd Sheeran at the Q Awards

So 'Galway Girl' might not be a purely folk aesthetic, despite the fact that it was co-written and co-performed by the Irish band Beoga, but that's not the only thing that's convinced us he could be heading for a brand new sound.

Ed Sheeran's Promoter Turned Away From Viagogo After Confronting Them Over Ticket Touting

Ed Sheeran

The battle against ticket touting has escalated after Ed Sheeran’s promoter, along with two MPs, was turned away from the London offices of ticket re-sale site Viagogo when they confronted the company with a letter and questions regarding their practices.

They had travelled to the London HQ of Viagogo’s parent company VGL, accompanied by disappointed and irate customers who claimed the company had ripped them off by adding huge fees to the face value of a ticket, as well as VAT. However, Conservative MP Nigel Adams and Labour MP Sharon Hodgson were both told the police would be called if they didn’t leave the premises.

The company is accused of hiking the prices of tickets by up to 34% through hidden fees that only become apparent when a customer clicks through the site to payment details.

However, the HBO fantasy show’s director, Jeremy Podeswa, has told The Daily Beast in a new interview that he felt Sheeran’s appearance was appropriate.

A source told The Sun newspaper: ''After the success Jess enjoyed with her first album, she has been able to pick and choose who she works with but was delighted that Ed came on board. His offerings are set to be major components of Jess's album - his songwriting and her distinctive sound are a perfect fit.''

He may have sung 'I won't stay put, give me the chance to be free/ Suffolk sadly seems to sort of suffocate me' on his song 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' from his debut album '+ (plus)', but these days he has a lot more love for the county that raised him and proved it with his latest single 'Castle on the Hill'. Ed Sheeran: Jumpers for Goalposts Trailer

In July of 2015, Ed Sheeran played his biggest gigs to date, selling out Wembley Stadium to tens of thousands of his most loyal fans. When asked where the name 'Jumpers for Goalposts' came from Ed explains 'because we keep on moving them' explaining that when he hits one target, the bar is continuously being risen.

When Atlantic Records first signed Ed Sheeran, it's easy to believe that even they didn't envisage his rise to fame to hit such heights in a short amount of time. Since the release of his debut album + in 2011, Ed's had a number of number one singles and both albums have hit the top of the chart in the UK with his follow-up X finally giving him a number one album in the states (in 2004) reaching Platinum status in the UK, US, Australia, Canada & New Zealand.

Jumpers for Goalposts will be available to watch in select cinemas from October 23
