Ed Sheeran’s third album Divide (÷) is topping album charts and breaking records around the globe, putting the British singer/songwriter on top of the world.

Divide is currently at number one on the UK album charts, as well as in the US, Australia, New Zealand and most of Europe.

In the UK, Divide is now the fastest-selling album by a male artist ever, according to the Official Charts Company. The album also has the highest opening week album sales for a male artist ever, after shifting 672,000 units.

The album also sold more units than the rest of the albums on the chart combined and four times more than the fastest-selling album of 2016, David Bowie’s Blackstar.

Stateside, Divide topped the Billboard 200 albums chart, selling 451,000 equivalent album units in the week ending March 9, according to Nielsen Music, giving Sheeran the largest sales week for an album in 2017 so far.

Over in Australia Divide is also on top of the albums chart, but it’s in the singles chart that Sheeran is really dominating. Shape of You has now been at the number spot for nine consecutive weeks.

The album’s 15 other tracks have all charted on the Australian Top 40, which is the first time any living artist has had more than 14 singles in the Top 100 at the same time.

Divide is also currently topping the charts in Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Belgium and Sweden, among others, meaning Ed really is on top of the world.
