If only our elementary school music classes sounded this good! Ed Sheeran joined Jimmy Fallon and The Roots on 'The Tonight Show' for an unusual rendition of his newest single 'Shape Of You' using only instruments found in children's classrooms. It's certainly impressive.

There's a reason why The Roots are one of the most hugely respected house bands in showbiz. They have a uniquely gifted approach to performing music, and they prove that every time they do a Classroom Instruments segment on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'.

Their latest gig was a remix (of sorts) of Ed Sheeran's number one single. The band were equipped with a tambourine, a ukulele, a couple of xylophones, bongos, a kazoo and a melodica among other things, while Jimmy Fallon was on wooden blocks/ bass drum/ güiro/ Casio keyboard duty. Ed Sheeran paired his vocals with a shaker in the shape of a banana - it didn't seem like he got the best deal.

You could say that the clip comes a little too late, because it didn't come close to matching the creativity and resourcefulness of Walk Off This Earth's recent cover of the song. The Juno Award winning band (who famously covered Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used To Know' in 2012) did a mash-up of 'Shape Of You', TLC's 'No Scrubs' and Black Street's 'No Diggity' to jaw-dropping effect.

Still, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots have bossed 'Classroom Instruments' covers in the past, most tellingly with Adele's 'Hello' last year, as well as Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Call Me Maybe', and 'Let It Go' with Idina Menzel from 'Frozen'.

'Shape Of You' is one of the first two singles, alongside 'Castle On The Hill', from Ed Sheeran's long-awaited forthcoming third album 'Divide' which is set to be released on March 3rd 2017.
