Edgar Ramirez is in talks to star in 'Doctor Strange'.

The 'Zero Dark Thirty' actor - who is currently starring as a Jesuit priest in the supernatural thriller 'Deliver Us From Evil' - is in talks with the movie's director Scott Derrickson to star in his upcoming Marvel comic book picture.

Edgar told IGN.com: ''We're talking. We've been talking.''

Official cast details for the movie haven't been announced and the parts of Doctor Stephen Strange and his nemesis Baron Mordo are yet to be filled, although the 37-year-old failed to specify which role he is in contention for.

Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto - who picked up the gong for Best Supporting Actor at this year's Academy Awards for his role in 'Dallas Buyers Club'- is also rumoured to star in the movie.

Meanwhile, 'Prometheus' screenwriter John Spaihts has entered in to talks to pen the script which follows the neurosurgeon - who becomes a Sorcerer Supreme - as he tries to protect the earth from magical and mystical threats.

The first draft of the 'Doctor Strange' script has already been penned by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer and the film makers have called in Avenger's director and Marvel Studio's president Kevin Feige to produce the movie.
