The unnamed camera operator was filming a scene for the comedy thriller Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency in Vancouver, Canada when he was struck by an SUV driven by a stunt man early on Wednesday morning (10Aug16).

"We can confirm that unfortunately a member of our crew was injured on set early this morning. He was taken to the hospital and was discharged a few hours later," a BBC America spokesperson told the Hollywood Reporter in a statement.

Vancouver Police Department (VPD) spokesman Constable Brian Montague also told the website the cameraman, 55, was conscious when he was rushed to the local hospital and described the injuries as serious but not life-threatening.

"The VPD Collision Investigation Unit, as well as Worksafe BC, attended and are probing the circumstances of the incident," he added.

Production has since resumed on the eight-part show, a comedic thriller which follows an eccentric detective Dirk Gently, played by Samuel Barnett, and his assistant Todd, portrayed by Wood. The series, which is based on Douglas Adams' novels, which have previously been adapted for radio and TV, is due to begin on BBC America on 22 October (16).
